Little Britain - Muscle Men Express Their Manhood
This is maybe the most un-subtle british comedy I've ever seen. Could they be a bit more graphic? How much time and effort went into creating this shit?
Karl Pilkington on Satellite Navigation
Aww come on, putting each other down is a staple of British comedy. It's all in good fun.

I have tried watching these a dozen times. Each time I just see two guys bullying someone who doesn't appear to be bothered by it.
Yeah, I do love Gervais and Merchant, but these have always seemed unnecessarily cruel, and I get shirty with them when Karl is actually making a good point.

Thanks for the link, mentality. Just watched it.
Am I the only one to think Ricky Gervais was a bit of a fish out of water? The others are life long standup legends.
I don't know what it is about Gervais. I'm a huge fan, and I love the Office - I'm a big fan of British comedy - but sometimes he seems to be trying to hard. I also didn't really rate the way he sold out to Hollywood, with some fairly ordinary work. I got the impression Chris Rock doesn't rate him too highly.
Fair enough, and I'm also a huge Gervais fan. But is Seinfeld really known for his standup? If it weren't at the intro of every episode of his show, I personally would have never seen it.
He's totally known for his stand-up. He just played himself in Seinfeld, the role of a stand-up comic. And since the show he's continued doing that. I think he's got a return date lined in up in London during the summer.

Karl Pilkington - Satisfied Fool
As an American raised on British comedy (Python, the Goodies, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Eddie Izzard, Ricky Gervais....) it appears that the strain of snobbery still runs deep in the English psyche. There seems to be a sense of entitlement among the upper class that its fine to be horribly rude to those you consider to be less educated. While the Cambridge-Oxford educated Python's took the upper class to task for this, I wonder if Ricky Gervais, who has working class roots, has affected this as a social climbing technique. He is very funny, and obviously very intellegent, but he is unbelievably cruel to Karl, and other people he considers to be friends. The woman and last man that Karl talks to treat him with the contempt that I find offensive.
"F*ck your Honda Civic, I've A Horse Outside!" A pikey rap..
Yes sir, me as well.
The quote was more homage to my introduction to pickeys via, what quickly became, one of my favorite British comedies.

I sometimes struggle with this dialect, but I could understand everything these guys were saying. >> ^chicchorea:
"Now, there is a problem with Pikeys or Gypsies: you can't really understand much of what's being said. It's not Irish, it's not English, it's just . . . well, it's just Pikey." Turkish in Snatch.

Yup, those are both him! Never seen those before. Good stuff.

I've seen this guy do a few skits before, and something about him just really hits my funny bone. The first clip I saw of his was the American/Canadian border patrol officer (I'll find the link). He also did a dating video that was pretty popular. I'm an Aussie, and I'm usually more into British comedy - this guy has something different to almost all American comedians, but I'm not sure what it is.

Hope I haven't got the wrong guy.

This is a really funny guy I knew in college. He's in the Groundlings, which is sketch comedy and improv. This is the first time I've seen him make a video, and I thought it was hilarious. Half the humor comes from how real the video seems at first, so I could understand some people getting upset at being "tricked".

Ah, was wondering why this didn't get more votes from the Poms when I first posted it. Fantastic British comedy!
