Comedian Attacked By Woman

Now for those that wish to know a bit about that little monument...
I'll assume since he's a comedian he does actually know a bit about the Washington Monument (that is "typically" true for many comedians, they may make fun of something, but they tend to have a fairly in-depth knowledge of just what they ARE making fun of; though not always).
It is, of course, an obelisk. An obelisk was chosen for Washington (probably due to some of his Freemason views, who knows; they may have played a part--a decently big one in my eyes--lots of Washington D.C. is like that) as obelisks are some of the oldest structures in Egyptian culture--for George it was to mean this: "...to evoke the timelessness of ancient civilizations, the Washington Monument embodies the awe, respect, and gratitude the nation felt for its most essential Founding Father..."!
It was fairly hard in "its day" to make and complete; its original design was a HUGE undertaking but was scaled down along the way as resources and support dwindled. It took a very long time to finish and holds a great many distinctions, and most certainly isn't a, "...cement structure." (if you took that literally). It's marble and put together like a puzzle (kind of like brick and mortar, all the way up; a lot of it is marble--two different kinds, Pre-Civil-War, Post-Civil-War). For the time this was an actual engineering feat, from a degree due its height and size (when completed, it was the tallest BUILDING in the entire world--again explaining why it wasn't an "easy" build at all) and from there many of the "goodies" that were included within the project. BUT, the original design that would have made that monument quite different (not so "clean" or "empty") was changed by the final person with the say so, changing MANY details about the whole Monument from its original framework.
Look that up yourself, but one part is the fact that both the ground around it would be FAR different AND the Obelisk would look FAR different as it would be decorated with all the ornamentation, wording, symbolism, etc... From 1848 to 1884; from one idea to a fairly different one; one that was more attention getting and true to the Egyptian building, and their new ideas; to something different; a blank, clean look as it is now.

That's what I thought, but if Payback is right then it was all done and they messed it up to make this.
Far from lazy, but definitely awesome.

PaybackActually, it's pretty simple.
Lay them all down first, then tilt each up, one at a time. It's just easier with bricks due to their size. Dominoes would be horrifically difficult to do the same way.
The precision this would take tempts me to think it's fake, but it's such a good idea that I can't resist it.

spawnflaggerI think Nerdwriter's knowledge of AWS is superficial (he admitted just finding out about them). AWS are not licensing their tech to other companies, they are renting time out on servers using their tech (mostly software). That graphic he showed of market share is also misleading - if you look closely it's just survey results of "do you use x,y,z cloud provider(s)?" (although undoubtedly AWS is the most popular by any measurement of # of customers, but it's not necessarily the biggest - hard to say because Microsoft, Google, and Amazon don't publish their numbers).
Renting time out on a server is orders of magnitude more scalable than installing and maintaining a bunch of sensors at thousands of retail locations.
Since their patents are vague enough, they could license that "idea" out to other companies who want to attempt the same thing, but probably they want full control of any brick-and-mortar store, to minimize support costs, and provide a consistent experience.
Plus, not every retail experience is like a grocery store, so it's a bit of a stretch to say they'll take over all retail everywhere...

oritteropoIf you could grow a pineapple you should be able to grow oranges and lemons. We have roughly socal weather here, and have no problems with either... but it never freezes here. You would need to protect the tree from freezing if you have temperatures much below 0°C for more than 10 hours at a time (google didn't answer that question for nocal, my query must've been off) but planting against a south facing brick or stone wall would help if it's marginal (obviously we'd be using a north facing wall).
p.s. worked out the right query, and nocal looks ok on the coast, and even OR and WA, but going further north to BC looked a bit iffy... but then people do manage it - http://www.5dollardinners.com/oranges-from-canada/

WeedandWeirdness says...Is he painted in brick camouflage or something? That damn troll, lol! How you ever saw it to begin with is a story I have yet to hear, and I am sure it is a good one. Still can't believe I never found it noodle!
Oh, and the gnome was always on the chimney about half way up.
Making a model Steel Bridge for a 3rd grade project
TheFreakOpposite experience: in 4th grade me and a partner were suppose to make a model church (catholic school). I had made stained glass windows with that fake stained glass paint - arts and crafts stuff, we had made brick walls out of clay on wood...for a couple of 10 year olds it was pretty impressive. Then my partner's rather insisted we finish it at his house. His father scrapped everything we'd done and made it himself in his wood shop, letting us do nothing. Thing is, he had a wood shop but he sucked. Made it out of fake wood paneling and it didn't even make sense. It was just a crappy looking box that in no way resembled a building. I hated that thing. His need to take over stole the creativity from children.
You might think what your kid makes will be better for your help and they'll be happier because of it. But what you end up with will never be theirs. Hope you're really proud of your grade school project.
