In all seriousness though, the system is borked. My buddy works as a technician during spinal/neural surgeries. They charge $7000 for a screw.

What all this talk about the rates paid by individuals vs. insurance companies shows is the power of larger pools in negotiations. If we could all negotiate our prices together as a nation, maybe we could work something out that is fair for everybody. Sure, it might cost more than it currently costs those with insurance, but we wouldn't be pushing the costs on to the self/un insured. It's not as though the unconscious guy laying on the hospital bed has much opportunity to shop around and let the free market work its magic.

This video is actually not from the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull, this is from the eruption on Fimmvörðuháls that was before the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull.
Fimmvörðuháls is located between two glaciers called Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. The eruption on Fimmvörðuháls started on 20th of March and ended on 13th of April, the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull started the night after on the 14th of April.

GwizWe are growing too many channels, the way it works now. By having super-narrow channels on the same level as much broader channels (like music) we are hurting everyone trying to use the channels.

Saw the article in the NYTimes last night, and went to check them out. Frankly, it's just too early and they're too swamped to get any kind of read on them. The only thing I -can- tell you is that their forum software is completely borked...you can read initial posts, but none of the replies.

It probably won't surprise anyone that many of the posts are distinctly tea flavored...I don't know if those are supporters, or detractors, that's not yet clear. I'll be keeping an eye on the whole thing to see where it heads.

America is not a pure democracy. Pure majority rule isn't advisable for anything larger than small communities. The US is republic and there are very numerous essays and such out there on the advantages of that system with all its characteristics such as the Senate.

BTW I did bork up the polls. I missread and article which actually was talking about Obama's Healthcare polling, not the public option. Recent polling... and old polling too places the public option at just over 53% on average, but it did recently take a dip to lower numbers. Bloomberg says 46%... whatever. The only number that matters at this point is 60. There's a number the Dems should enjoy while they have it 'cause it's not going to last.

Of course I feel horrible for this guy, but this is precisely what has been happening to non-whites since 9/11. And contrary to the Paultard/AlexJones POV, non-whites have constitutional rights as well.

Non-whites not only have Constitutional rights, they have something "Whitey" isn't permitted to have: a special, dedicated single race "civil rights" group like CAIR or the NAACP, ever vigilant for signs of payouts and lawsuit settlements discrimination.
