The Militarization of the Police Force

enemycombatant says...

The same thing happened in response to the increasing power of Chicago's bootlegging mob. And, since when is a SWAT officer the same as a beat officer? Of course there will always be abuses, but it takes a lot of mischaracterization to depict that as the norm.

"Heroes" - David Bowie

ulysses1904 says...

I got to see Bowie at Madison Square Garden in 1976, on the Station to Station tour. I still listen to the bootleg from the Nassau Coliseum Long Island show from that tour, his band was so tight, they were amazing. Then came "Low" which along with "Station to Station" was Bowie at his peak for me. A lot of the "Heroes" album was pretty disposable but the title track really does stand out. I stopped listening to him after "Lodger".

Senator Ted Kennedy Dies At Age 77

Rotty says...

Never properly prosecuted for his crime at Chappaquiddick. You can say what you want, but he left the scene of a crime where a woman drown and he got a TWO MONTH sentence. Another Kennedy family financed crime. I, for one, am glad to see the Kennedy "legacy" die. Bunch of bootlegging criminals.

I just find Naruto to be fantastically entertaining, especially the end of the first show (as in episodes after 300 or whatever it is, hulu makes it easy) and all of the second. It's just gotten more and more fun over the years... if you can stand the 15 minute episodes and the DBZ-esque teaser episodes. The series starts out really basic and gets better as it goes along, but yeah, it's just basic entertainment and by no means artistic.
Fair warning on Lain... it only gets weirder, but its short.
P.S. The only way you'll likely find the Memories series (3 short movies) is through the internet for sure... and if you want to buy them on a disc, you'll probably pay quite a bit unless it's a bootleg or something.

Dark Knight Pencil Trick: Boom Headshot!

Pablo Francisco - Performing in Iceland (HILARIOUS!)

spoco2 says...

"I would leave, but the car works" Gold

I seriously doubt the title on the video of 'bootlegged' is true, looks pretty professional to me.

I do enjoy his stuff. I was reticent to when I first saw his stuff as he does a lot of low brow kinda stuff... lowest common denominator and all... but I can't help but crack up at his various voices...

Although, I had seen pretty much everything in this in previous performances, so I don't know whether he's run out of ideas or not these days.

Falcor, the original... flying... dog?

Crosswords says...

Yeah it creeped me out when I was a kid too. Whenever it rained during recess this is the movie they played off some teacher's oft copied bootleg, that and the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (the before CGI version).

Smashing Pumpkins - Thirty Three

lucky760 says...

Was a big fan of the Pumpkins (aka Amazing Tomatoes, as they were going to originally call themselves) in high school. I'm always surprised to see music videos of songs I really, really love and realize I've never seen them before. Never been an MTV watcher, especially not now that they don't play music videos any more.

Still have an old bootleg of them in a tiny club performing acoustically the songs of their then unreleased upcoming album Siamese Dream. Billy's voice cracks a few times trying to hit the high notes and he just laughs. It's great.

They were sure something awesome.

Indiana Jones 4 Trailer

spoco2 says...

Indeed this too would be a 'bootleg' version. if this could be changed to the Yahoo or Indianajones.com version it'd be great as they are far better quality.

But I think it looks promising... promising indeed.

Actually Finch, technically you had yours up first, even if it was just the bootleg. You could have just updated your post with the higher quality version, and Tymbrwulf would have had to discard his as a dupe since you had it up first.

You beat me to it by 40 minutes. Up until an hour ago, I could only find the bootlegged version online. Good quality find!
