There are fans who think Star Trek has good continuity??? It's FAMOUS for it's lack of continuity! Within the original series itself there were plenty of examples of self-contradiction. Add to that all the movies, books, and what, 4 other TV series, and it would be impossible to keep everything straight.

No, Star Trek finds its strength in its malleability, where the facts of the universe conform to the story being told, not the other way around. And the fans who try to make everything fit together perfectly are laughed at by those who just like a fun sci-fi show.

Still, it is funny to see some of the big booboos, like Troi kissing Riker with a beard so many times...
