Russell Brand Interviewed By A Very Excited Fan

CreamK says...

I've worked with disabled children and i know exactly how you feel. It takes a lot of effort and the main thing is to know them as a person. Us non-disabled beings, we have a complex set of rules and customs, we can pick up personal traits in seconds, sometimes milliseconds and a lot of it involved body language, subtle little nuances in the speech patterns. Interacting disabled, that layer is affected. In the end, when you have established a connection, when you know what they think, how they, needs, wants, dreams etc. the interaction is exactly like it is with anyone else.

Even after working with this children successfully and actually loving them to bits (my departure from that field was heart breaking, i still get tears in my eyes) it's still a hurdle each time i meet a new person who has disabilities. But don't worry, they have this interaction as a default, it's the same with everyone they meet. Disabled have gotten used to it and know that if you hangs out long enough to know them as a person, it's worth the effort. Some act that they don't have that hurdle at all when they feel it, overact and try to show empathy which is even worse as it turn into patronizing very fast. Just be natural, if you're shy, you're shy. If you're reserved, you are reserved. One trait was very common with all kids i had the chance of knowing: they see your emotional state like you see colors so don't try to act or pretend. Just be yourself.

That really brought a smile to my face. I personally don't know how to act around people I meet in every day life, so interactions with disabled people have always been extra difficult. I do my honest best to be a kind person to everyone, but I fail miserably in that (phobias and avoidance, nothing mean, ever). I dig Russell Brand for his insane dip into celebrity and then the rationalization and intelligence to come out the other side seeing things as they really are for everyday individuals (politically, etc).
This video just makes my day because he's so wonderful to this girl, and she makes my day for pursuing her goals so honestly (or deceptively, in terms of affection).

Scumbag Seals

rich_magnet says...

Then apparently you've never dived with large seals before. On land they're comically clumsy but in the water, you move as silly as they do on land, whilst they move with grace, speed and strength. Look up under-sea videos of sea lions or leopard seals. Beautiful to dive with, though you have to pay attention to their body language.

OK, I don't think I have ever thought of seals as scary before.

Drunk off-duty deputy tries to arrest female soldier at bar

chingalera says...

He's a person who became a marine (a shitty one), then a cop (gang member) to abuse power and illicit control over others. His character screams it, his words, his body language. A broken human in need of serious therapy.

I read now where officer Bell has been suspended without pay as a result of the incident. He'll be back on the street in no-time, harassing more innocents and abusing women with a badge and a gun soon, residents of South Carolina who don't want his shit on the streets should demand his accountability in this matter. But they won't, they are too busy being programmed by the television and officer dickbag will be back on the street in no time.
Welcome to America. YOUR AMERICA

If she wasn't a soldier, a member of a large institution that would have probably looked into it themselves, I doubt it would have backfired on the cop as much as it did. In my opinion of course. I just don't see a common college student getting that fast of a turnaround on this guy getting canned, etc...where there would be a lot more "doubt" (read doubt as: chance to cover up because the college probably isn't going to look too hard) as to what happened. Even with a video.

How Steve Irwin Reacts to the Deadliest Snake in America

yellowc says...

I upvoted, I'm not hating on the joke.

Being on land and in control of the environment and approach is a calculated risk, where his expertise negates a lot of the danger. If you listen and watch his body language, Irwin is actually very very focused on not dying, as you'd imagine he would be. He was good at hiding that behind the entertainment.

He died because he was in water, with no mobility and no control of the environment, trying to interact with creatures who can move in an instant. To me it feels like TV got in the way here, a small lapse of judgement on a "peaceful" creature, it was really just unfortunate. Not to mention piercing his heart, even that was unlucky, a hit in the leg may have had him live.

A grizzly/shark. That I'd like to pet, in the wild.

Note from her narration she can read the shark's body language. People who megafauna usually know how to read their body language, and how to approach them in a way that's non-threatening. Neat encounter, cute story.

The Punisher: Russian Bus Driver Deliberately Rams Cars

aimpoint says...

You know, something like this had me pissed off at first considering road rage is something that demonstrates what happens when we take away a few "communicative devices" like body language and differences in "personal space" comfort levels, but....

All those cars jumped in front then applied their breaks TO A BUS

Wait for it ..........

I figured it would be a face. Recognizing faces is something that, for humans, has to be very precise if we are to also understand the subtle cues it provides. Read a book about body language, they showed the same thing with imagery only they flipped the face upside down and left the smile right side up.

The image is smiley/happy/positive

However when they flipped this very image...

I thought you didn't give pretty girls tickets?

mindbrain says...

To be clear, in the original video the cop's lines from: "Pardon me" up to "sign here" are fabricated. Replacing the original soundtrack and dialogue of the lady relaying her address to the cop as he copies it down and spins the clipboard around for her to sign.

I'm an experienced sound editor. If there's one thing I understand in this world, it's audio and how to hide an edit. At its core this video fails to do that on several levels and all I hope to accomplish here is to educate people who want to learn how to spot a fake in the future.

I am 100% certain this is a fake, rendering it zero true value to the sift.

Don't you find it at all suspicious that in the original video the lady is audible whenever she speaks except for when she supposedly asks the cop the implied question? Why wouldn't she be heard then? It's because when he asks for her present address (actual dialogue) her actual dialogue (stating her address while he writes it down) is removed and the cop's zinger is shoe-horned in.

Notice the awkwardness in the jump in time between the the end of the zinger "sign here" and "This is not an admission of guilt"(actual dialogue). The difference in the fidelity of the audio (the fake dub vs the actual dialogue) is apparent. Besides that, it's just an unnatural rhythm of speaking forgetting that the dubbed voice is way off in terms of a match for the cop when listened to back to back at such a close proximity. The dubbers didn't have a large window of time to work within giving the dialogue a rushed quality which helps to expose it as a fake.

Also note the cop's body language while he is speaking to her throughout the original video. He frequently looks at her making eye contact when addressing her. During the false exchange his body language in no way reflects the bewilderment that is expressed when he repeats her assumed hushed dialogue.

On top of all that the dubbers failed to add foley of the sound of him handling his clipboard, a sound close enough to the cop to be picked up or cause interference with the cop's mic. There is just silence instead since they removed all sound during the exchange added a background ambiance loop (plenty of b-roll to draw from) and then dubbed in the lines which has fooled 110 (as of this post) into voting it into the #1 spot.

These are the exact kinds of tricks that are used in "reality" tv to take raw footage of people and construct characters in post utilizing the most sensational dialogue available and place a musical backing track to let you know how you are supposed to be feeling about a certain person or situation.

TL:DR See funny thing, upvote and move on.

While it might be dubbed for sound quality for the TV show, I saw nothing in the original vid that made me think they changed any of the dialogue. Seems unlikely she said, "I like peanut butter sandwiches." Followed by the cop saying, "You didn't think we gave pretty girls tickets?" The cop clearly repeats/paraphrases what she is saying to him, or at least it's a fair assumption.

What is it about this woman's presentation, body language, choice of words, perspective that is so deeply moving? It isn't as if there is anything really different here, really. But dang. Yeah. This is quality, isn't it?

Thanks for the quality acknowledgement.

United States is the Most Corrupt Country in the World

It looks like the host's body language is suggesting he is in disbelief of Jackie's statements. Like he is just wanting to wrap the segment up because his guest is clearly an idiot and fawning over a country that would not take kindly to anything less.

Who Did It??

Payback says...

That's not guilt, it's expectation of punishment.

I'll try to find the anecdote, but basically, someone kept coming home to find a mess their dog made, then punished their dog. Before he even found a mess, he "could tell there was one cuz the dog looked guilty". One time, a friend said to have the dog stay outside, create a mess, put the dog back in, walk away for a couple minutes and come back.

The dog still "looked guilty". Not because it had made the mess, but because of the mere existance of the mess, the dog knew it was going to get bawled out.

Moral: If you can't stop the dog WHILE IT'S DOING THE PROBLEM BEHAVIOUR, you might was well not react. It won't understand. Dogs neither rationalize, nor understand cause and effect without immediacy.

This dog could very well be reacting to the mess being there, while the other dog actually did it, but if he never got bawled out for it, so he was ok with it. She, however, may get blamed all the time, or merely reacts to the owner's attitude and body language.

What's disturbing to me is the body language. That girl does NOT want to be here, she's saying one thing and her body is saying completely the opposite of "Don't Touch Me."
