Walmart Pulls Illegal Alien Costume

therealblankman says...

As a card-carrying bleeding-heart Liberal, I'm gonna' have to go with "Mildly amusing satirical Halloween costume which may be construed as offensive to those with no sense of occasion, nor sense of humour whatsoever".

Next thing you know, people will get offended at Ted Danson dressing up in Black-face.

Australian Tribute To Michael Jackson Offends American

Westy. You obviously have no idea what the connotations of black face are, Racism and group superior.
If you have no problem with black face then you have no empathy for the millions of black americans it was use to offend belittle and degrade. It depicts blacks as unintelligent uneducated dancing singing jesters for your amusement.
" See, this what those silly blacks act like all the time when we aren't around. "
Black face was, and still is, an attack on black culture. No matter if you're aware of the offense or not.
It's racist and a flagrantly inaccurate stereotype encompassing people like Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass who were by no means unintelligent or less valuable than any of us today.

In conclusion, I submit your comment here is insensitive, ignorant and prickish.
I'm sad to see the videosift community has to endure statements of that nature. = /

I somehow dobt that genuinely openly racist people would get on live tv I also think if you look at the context of the whole joke , the wog face paint is entiraly appropriate and is fundamental to the joke in the first place .

you didn't actually understand what was going on , you comment is the one that's simple small minded and shows a general lack of understanding. Its more likely the case that people like you are a detriment to video sift. please engage your brain before commenting.

if it was just the wogs then I could see how a dipshit oversensitive prick could be offended , but because Michal Jackson is white it makes 100% seance and anyone that's offended should be thrown into a pit of cow testicles and urinated on.

Nas - I can

Norsuelefantti says...

I know I can
Be what I want to be
If I work hard at it
I'll be where I want to be
[Kids]
I know I can (I know I can)
Be what I want a be (be what I want a be)
If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it)
I'll be where I want a be (I'll be where I want a be)

Be, B-Boys and girls, listen up
You can be anything in the world, in God we trust
An architect, doctor, maybe an actress
But nothing comes easy it takes much practice
Like, I met a woman who's becoming a star
She was very beautiful, leaving people in awe
Singing songs, Lena Horn, but the younger version
Hung with the wrong person
got her strung on that heroin
cocaine sniffing up drugs all in her nose...
Coulda died, so young, now looks ugly and old
No fun cause now when she reaches for hugs people hold they breath
Cause she smells of corrosion and death
Watch the company you keep and the crowd you bring
Cause they came to do drugs and you came to sing
So if you gonna be the best, I'm a tell you how,
Put your hands in the air, and take a vow

I know I can (I know I can)
Be what I want a be (be what I want a be)
If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it)
I'll be where I want a be (I'll be where I want a be)

Be, B-Boys and girls, listen again
This is for grown looking girls who's only ten
The ones who watch videos and do what they see
As cute as can be, up in the club with fake ID
Careful, 'fore you meet a man with HIV
You can host the TV like Oprah Winfrey
Whatever you decide, be careful, some men be
Rapists, so act your age, don't pretend to be
Older than you are, give yourself time to grow
You thinking he can give you wealth, but so
Young boys, you can use a lot of help, you know
You thinking life's all about smoking weed and ice
You don't want a be my age and can't read and write
Begging different women for a place to sleep at night
Smart boys turn to men and do whatever they wish
If you believe you can achieve, then say it like this

Be, be, 'fore we came to this country
We were kings and queens, never porch monkeys
It was empires in Africa called Kush
Timbuktu, where every race came to get books
To learn from black teachers who taught Greeks and Romans
Asian, Arabs and gave them gold when
Gold was converted to money it all changed
Money then became empowerment for Europeans
The Persian military invaded
They heard about the gold, the teachings, and everything sacred
Africa was almost robbed naked
Slavery was money, so they began making slave ships
Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went
He was so shocked at the mountains with black faces
Shot off they nose to impose what basically
Still goes on today, you see?
If the truth is told, the youth can grow
Then learn to survive until they gain control
Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes
Read more learn more, change the globe
Ghetto children, do your thing
Hold your head up, little man, you're a king
Young Princess when you get your wedding ring
Your man is saying "She's my queen"

human scum confesses to rape and torture

BicycleRepairMan says...

Signs that this is a viral:

1.Context:

Given that this has a home video theme to it, it seems improbable that it is always clear exactly who and what the individual is talking about, and to convenient how it is tied to known scandals

2.Time:

For the same reasons, it seems improbable that all the vital pieces of just enough incriminating confessions are given on a point-by-point basis in the short timeframe of the video

3.Clarity:

Again, througout the video, despite this apparently being recorded at a party of sorts, his confessions and admissions are surprisingly in good sound quality, with little or no disturbances (ie: music, talk)

4.Black face.

Despite the clear and audible nature of the video, and the otherwise acceptable visual quality of the film, the mans face is suspiciously, and conveniently almost completely black throughout the film, which makes him almost impossible to identify.

5.Friends:

Despite the horrific nature of the crimes described, his "friends" seems to play along just the right amount, given that they might have wanted to expose this, it could be an act on their part, but there is surprisingly little of the perhaps awkward pauses etc. that you'd might expect.

6. Steady camera
The first half second of the film, shows a convenient "homemade intro" with a Cloverfield-ishly convenient "gotta get this on tape, man, say it again" while shaking and lifing the camera into place. For the rest of the video, the camera is rock steady. Despite the professional and sudden steady-ness, the cameraman makes no effort to correct the mans black, anonymous face.

Overall, the above points, and the small signs convinces me that this is indeed a viral/fake of some sorts, unless it can be verified by some outside source.

SNL Digital Short: Japanese Office

clamps says...

Not sure if anyone else here cares, but all the Japanese language used in this skit is technically correct, though badly pronounced. Well done SNL! Frankly this is a million times more effort than the Japanese go to when attempting to lampoon any other country. Usually they just glue on a fake nose and paint their faces black (yes, classic black-face with the white lips and everything) or they paint them pink and draw round eyes. It's surreal.

John McCain booed giving speech about MLK

NetRunner says...

>> ^dgandhi:
McCain's speech writers suck, why even bring up that you voted against MLK day? I understand having an answer if asked, but putting it out here, especially when standing near where the man was shot in the anniversary of his death. Tactical incompetence.

That's the thought I had when I first saw this too. As soon as I saw a member of the right-wing media respond to it, I got it.

The jist of it is that we should all praise McCain for his "bravery" and "honesty", and see how wonderful a person he is for changing his mind.

Juxtapose that with the audacity of how wrong he was. It's not like he voted against it because MLK was some obscure member of some obscure ethnic group he'd never heard of. It's not like there hadn't been enough time for history to reflect on the importance of what MLK did -- MLK was assassinated 15 years before McCain's "no" vote.

Personally, I think it was the same old juvenille hostility I've come to expect from this party. It was an opportunity for McCain to stand before a sea of black faces, and say "I didn't think this was important", while spinning it as lovely self-deprecation that we should respect him for.

Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs (1943) Banned Looney Toons

swampgirl says...

That was my point basically with the Chappelle/Borat rant. I'm sure if one spent all day here searching, one would find tons more. (edit: looks like I have already )
Usually, I would have simply read this thread without participating, but something Joedirt said changed my mind:

"I will start to post every black-face clip, Amos and Andy, and other "historical" documentation of the early 20th C. "

That would be unnecessary JD, and counterproductive ...we have so many examples already here. Let's just have a look at the content we have already voted on and *accepted.

Well...that's if you agree that the examples I gave are racist. (which I don't since the racism/race related content is parody)

Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs (1943) Banned Looney Toons

joedirt says...

If it was a documentary, or discussion of attitudes in any way.. well, that would be different. But given your policy statement (which makes sense), the offensive nature (regardless of historical context), and this quote "Some feel that this cartoon is so offensive to African-Americans that it should be consigned to the censor's vault for all eternity, lest any showing of it at all spark an outpouring of anger, shame, and outrage among blacks and indeed, all who rightfully seek to eradicate racism from our society."

I tend to agree with that quote and don't forget there are many people who still hold these views and stereotypes.

I will start to post every black-face clip, Amos and Andy, and other "historical" documentation of the early 20th C.
