Billy Joel - Piano Man

Just to be clear... this particular video was indeed filmed in the '80s, but the song - including the recording used in this video - is from the early '70s. 1973 to be exact. People often forget just how long he's been in the biz. (This video was released in 1985 when they were promoting his mid-'80s greatest hits collection.)

There was actually a near identical video shot in '73 for the song, with the same recording used. It's here (and is cooler, methinks! - check out Joel's shaggy hairstyle):

Abortionplex: 'The Onion' Story Fools Republican Congressman

waynef100 says...

These Yelp reviews are completely blasphemous. What happens at Abortionplex stays at Abortionplex.>> ^longde:

282 hilarious reviews of the Abortionplex on Yelp, e.g.:
5 Stars---The buffet on the mezzanine level is great (avoid the seafood though- they don't replace it often enough) and the gift shop downstairs has cool tchotchkes and stuff (I got a coat hanger license plate frame). And I really like the combo deals- bring a friend and get 1/2 off the 2nd abortion, every third abortion get a free trip to the buffet, etc.
But the Abortionplex Funzone is the best part. Classic 80s arcade games like Joust, Rampage and Tron, all set to play for nickels, plus a row of top-notch skeeball machines. Most places that have skeeball feature machines that are broken or run down, but these are all brand new, and the prizes you can win with game tickets are much better than the plastic junk you usually get at Chucky Cheeze and Peter Pipers. I am definitely having my next birthday party at the Abortionplex! I hope my wife is pregnant again by then.

Anti-Gay Senator Kicked Out Of Restaurant -- TYT

quantumushroom says...

Bullshit. Discriminating against a willfully ignorant individual is not even close to discriminating against an entire population. Not. Even. Close.

>>> According to the left, it is, but that's another argument. THIS argument is: if you own a business, you should have the right to decide who you will and will not serve. If we still had freedom, a business owner could decide whether s/he allows smoking on the premises, not the State.

>>> Senator No-Gay wasn't doing anything disruptive in that establishment. I'm defending the right of the owner to kick him out, but I'm also defending the right of a biz owner to kick Dan Savage out because he pokes fun at certain types of Christians, or kick Je$$e Jack$on out for referring to a majority Jewish area of New York as "Hymietown".

People are generally punished, directly or indirectly, for saying and doing stupid things, especially when it causes damage to other people.

But as any good liberal knows, some people are to be punished more than others for exercising their rights.

Perhaps if there were an entire sub-population of humanity that was born willfully ignorant and could do nothing about it, was enslaved, killed with impunity once freed, and eventually given some lip service to equal rights, the Organization for the Advancement of Ignorance would have some moral high ground upon which to stand.
But of course, it is the choice to be ignorant that is the key distinction. Spouting stupid shit from a position of power is not the same as being born with DNA that makes your skin dark, your eyes slanted, or your dick hard for other dicks. People are generally punished, directly or indirectly, for saying and doing stupid things, especially when it causes damage to other people.

If the fascist, politically correct laws that force everyone to associate with everyone else applied to leftists, Senator No-Gay could successfully sue the restaurant for discrimination.

FDR: I Welcome Their Hatred

quantumushroom says...

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong … somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. … I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot." --Henry Morgenthau, Jr., U.S. Secretary of the Treasury during the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt

The myth of FDR is the edifice on which the modern welfare state wobbles.

So what did FDR do, exactly? If big biz (that old reliable satan of the left) really "controlled" government then all FDR did was make government bigger and more tyrannical, and to this day the left claims big biz still runs it.
FDR's antics extended the Depression. "High tariffs and government-sponsored deflation followed by enormous taxation and unthinkable government expenditures turned a stock market stumble into a decade-long nightmare."
Obama's cut from the same fictive cloth, a dragon pretending to be dragonslayer.

These statements are from a reputable historian or economist I take it?
