Dad Confronts Abortion Protesters

Serious upvote.
My cousin and his wife recently suffered a miscarriage of their first child, everything about it was horrible.
To start things off, she gets migranes, seriously bad ones. And the medication she was taking needed to stop if she wanted to have a child, so, she did.
After a few months (remember, months, and she suffered severe migranes) they finally were able to conceive, and they were going to announce it at my cousins wedding. (she would have been about 5 months pregnant at that point, so about 8 months of no medication, and morning sickness, etc.)
The day of one of my cousins wedding, none of that family (aunt, uncle, coussin & wife) showed up. Nobody knew why (We didn't know they were trying for a baby at this point) but around noon, someone finally got word of what was up.
Apparently Beth had suffered a miscarriage, for a few days she had noticed the baby wasn't kicking, and found out the day before the wedding that, sure enough, the baby was lost.
She had to wait 3 days before she could get to an abortion clinic to have it removed, or she would've had to wait longer in a hospital.
And to think of all the pain and suffering she had already been through, coupled with the trauma of losing her first child, and having to walk into one of those clinics, tears most likely streaming down her face, and having to deal with people like those two women?
My heart breaks for her. I can't honestly believe people would do that and think they're solving anything.

This is the reason why we need *promotepost or *qualitypost. (Maybe transfer a power-point for recognition, max of one per comment, etc...)

It's a sad story, but it shows that these stories are out there. I have a lot of problems with what basically is temper-tantrum rallies/protests. The only protests that should be in anger are when a right is denied by the government. Write your Senator or Congressman for the other stuff. (This would force them to think out their ideas when it's penned on paper.)

I'm in Schmawy! Although a 10c dirty roof day 2 would suck. That 5.7 chimney would rock so hard... I agree with Beth though, climbing in the cold blows, and I'm still not 100% on trad climbing

Dolphin at a wedding

alizarin says...

From Wikipedia (which has said image of dog riding a dolphin's back across a sunset)

This is a film about a boy, Jordan, and his dog Zeus. A marine biologist, Mary Beth, who is a single parent and leads a hectic life with her two impossible daughters, Judith and Nora. She, along with her partner Becky, are trying to study and save a beautiful dolphin named Roxanne. Unfortunately, Mary Beth's greedy partner, Claude Carver, tries to capture the dolphin and sell her. Terry finds out that he has relationships with Mary Beth, and they start going out, under the watchful eyes of the kids. Zeus stows away one day on one of Mary Beth's boat trips, which really annoys Mary Beth. However, when she finds out that the dog and the dolphin can do "interspecies communication," she is intrigued and curious. In the end, it's a race to save the dolphin and Zeus, who was kidnapped by Claude. At the end Claude gets caught by Becky, and gets peed on before he gets arrested. In the end Terry marries Mary Beth, and Roxanne finally finds a pod to live in, and has to say goodbye to Zeus.

Ah, Rollins is just displaying his ignorance. For every terrible run-of-the-mill dance track or mindless slab of Eurodisco, there's something amazing by Orbital, Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Lemon Jelly, Portishead, Basement Jaxx, Leftfield...
you forgot zero 7,gotan project,dead can dance,amon tobin,sneaker pimps.
those are actual bands...they play instruments..trip hop is amazing.
again,as i stated..i like techno, but i do not agree that having the ability to use reson or acid pro should be a validation of supremacy over actual musicianship.
talented?creative? of course.
more relevant than actual musicians? never.
the bands you posted are just that...bands.
oh..and i am in LOVE with beth gibbons!!!!

Wow! That girl is just so amazing. And I have to say, I believe this is the best I've heard from the band (they've never quite seemed up to Beth's speed, IMO).

That said, she definitely leaves me with mixed feelings. From a purely auditory standpoint, she deserves all the success in the world, but like it or not, the real world won't let that be the only criteria (maybe not even the biggest). It's not so much that she's fat (although that's a definite strike against her chances of commercial success), as that in so many of their performances, she seems to go out of her way to be...the only word I can come up with is "repulsive". It's almost like she's trying hard to sabotage any hope of real commercial success. Maybe she is...or maybe I'm reading too much into a mindset I just don't share (punk attitudes, fashions, body mods and ink have never been appealing to me).

But lordy, that lady can sing.

What's your first memory of rock & roll? (Rocknroll Talk Post)

Sagemind says...

Growing up in a radio Station, (my mom has worked in the same station my entire life), I have just always been around rock and roll. I remember meeting everyone that came through town, even Wolfman Jack on several occasions. There were so many, and I was young, I don’t even remember names…. You just don’t care at that age when you are around it all the time.

I used to get all the demo records to bring home. I remember at one of my birthday parties (10th?) I gave out 45s as party favors. (Five to each guest.)

My mom had a collection of 5-600 albums and several hundred original 45s with songs like “Robert Mitchum-
Ballad OF Thunder Road (1958), Janie Grant-Greasy Kids Stuff (1962) 45’s by Jan & Dean, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Little Richard, Richie Vallens, Elvis and that era. I remember putting on CCR albums as young as 6 or 7 years old.

My personal first 45s were Kiss-Beth, Jerry Doucette-Mama Let him play, Eagles-Liyin’ Eyes. My first Albums were Kiss, Rock and Roll Over and Bay City Rollers.

Into grade eight, my favorites became stuff like, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kiss, ACDC, the Ramones, The Cramps, The Moody Blues, Meatloaf, Styx and so much more. At one point I amassed over 1000 albums…

I thinned my selection down after getting married thinning down to around 50-100 albums and cassettes and have regretted it ever since. Music has been such a large part of my and there is a story to go with every song I ever remembered.

My first Rock Concert was Red Rider, opening for them was (Don’t laugh) Honeymoon Suite !!!

Long live the Music!
