Ya know what I see being cool with this. Video Games that you play in the real world. You can have augmented reality created by people, certain things you can do within their world they created in a city or part of a city or even in a field somewhere. It could be as simple as a ball program that try to work around the city to score a goal or something. I don't know there just seems like a ton of possibilities and I think it would be really cool. This is the first thing I've seen in my lifetime that has the chance of being something seriously science fictiony that I'd actually want.

Heh, think of a version of Assassins Creed multiplayer with these glasses.

I can see lots of people with shattered kneecaps screaming in pain surrounding 2-3 story buildings they thought they could jump off of easily.

Or, you know, I more meant the compass marker towards your target, all the while someone else has you as a target.

yeah, for once I can agree with QM on something. Never underestimate the market shills that will milk this crap for all it's worth.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of augmented reality...for things that really matter like research, work, science, and heck..yes...military applications.

I just get sick and tired of amazing tech like this being marketed to the hipster/fashion/leisure crowd I just really have no need to be that hooked in when it comes to social/leisure things. God forbid he actually interact with someone ask them directions or where something is. Nor am I looking forward to another round of peer pressure bullshit when it comes to new gadgets like this.w

Augmented reality displays are already here, its just a matter of form factor and profitability before we have them closer to our eye ... or you could tape an iphone under a hat and be cool like that

Some notes:

* A lot of the tech by then should be voice-operated, using natural language. The idea of using palm-sized anything 10 years from now will seem ridiculous. If anything, screens will be flexible and foldable OLEDS.

* "They" are working on contact lenses with screens built in. The Augmented Reality glasses were probably closest to something useful.

* The tech is highlighting uses it defeats. Example: the idea of sending a meat-sack to another city across the world for a meeting seems ridiculous with the advent of holographic teleconferencing.

* Where is the pr0n?

Nothing invokes a positive thought-exercise like an affluent, depressing world in which every surface has been turned into a screen with notifications telling you what to do or think, atrophied interpersonal relations, and muted emotions and sensations

I know, much more likely it's going to be a dingy, depressing world in which every surface has been turned into a screen with notifications telling you what to do or think, atrophied interpersonal relations, and emotions that haven't been muted, but diverted towards the convenient scapegoat of the hour, all brought to you by nearly flawless software from a variety of companies with happy-sounding names like Apple, Google, and Microsoft.

You know, sorta like the world I see when I look out my window...

Dark sci-fi brooding aside, I guess I don't see any really revolutionary technology here. Most of this kind of UI and network integration already exists, or is coming in the next year or two. There's a lot of paper-thin borderless screens and a couple augmented reality projections that are still a ways off, but not really that far either -- I'd expect both to be available before 2020.

This dystopian future is already here today!

probably the future of gaming but not using a projector , it would use augmented reality on vr glasses/contacts/headset , the tek already exists just need better vr glasses really.
saying that thought it was a realy good video clip I do however feel he missed an opportunity to do something that was likely/realistic.
visually i thought it was pretty cool and easy for people to understand and i'm sure that's what his main proities were

Yeah, I had basically that exact idea bout 10 years ago. Then I realized you can't just 'invent' things that use technology that doesn't exist yet.

Augmented reality glasses are going to be a huge deal when they finally get it right. And then it's just a couple of years until they start implanting that shit in your eye and we all have personalized HUD's

Then next thing you know you can't tell what's real if 'they' don't want you to. Like people going all Laughing Man from Ghost in the Shell.
