Skit For Gamers: New Consoles, Then and Now

Commodore 64 turns 30: What do today's kids make of it?

ant says...

My next door neighbor had a C64. I used to go over to his house and play so many games on it. It was SO fun during our childhood days. It was awesome to use my old Atari 2600 on it for two players games!

Xbox 360 and PS3 Are Just Very Crap PCs

ant says...

>> ^messenger:

I haven't played a console since SNES. What I liked about them then was that they always worked and never ever crashed. PCs still crash. Do consoles crash now? If not, that would be a significant advantage they have over PCs.

I haven't had owned a video game console since Atari 2600. I did borrow a Turbo Graphx 16 for about a week at my grand(ma/mother)'s house. I am more of a computer gamer with Texas Instrument (TI) 99/4A, Apple //c, IBM PCs, etc. Yes, computers crash a lot except for Apple //c and TI 99/4A since they were mostly the same like video game consoles.

Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates. Epic Rap Battles of History

kceaton1 says...

The only problem with HAL, is that, well we all know he looks like he is actually a street lamp sticking out of a Atari 2600...

I had to say it. Not fear inducing exactly.

(But, that was the point...)

A Brief (Musical) History Of Video Games

shinyblurry says...

I've played every single one of those games up until about the 2 minute mark. I probably enjoyed the 8/16 bit era more than anything else. I started out with an atari 2600..I remember playing "fire fighter" and thinking how amazing the graphics were. hehe. Adventure is the best game of all time.

Humility in a nutshell. Your current employment of saving us Sifty sinners from eternal damnation is a definite improvement on your previous occupations.

(just curious, mind mentioning a few of the "best games ever made" that you've contributed to? You know, so I know as if to thank you, being a gamer myself)

>> ^shinyblurry:

As a used to be hardcore gamer, who spent countless hours beating hundreds upon hundreds of games, from atari 2600 on, who worked for video game companies and contributed to some of the best games ever made, I can safely say that I wish I had used all that time to do something productive. I could be a piano playing, juggling, multi-lingual artistic black belt by now. I have great reflexes, sure..I can hit a guy two miles away with a railgun without crosshairs, that's true..but I really don't think thats adequate compension for all my wonderful memories of sitting in front of a screen for a good portion of my life. When you count the time I've spent on the internet I barely register as a human being. Nostalgia is great until you process it into reality.

Yeah hindsight is 20/20..and I probably won't start playing the piano or doing any of that..my one regret was never learning japanese, which ironically I originally wanted to do so I could play unreleased games from Japan..but also because I wanted to travel there and be an English teacher..I may still go as a missionary, but if I go anywhere it would probably be to the middle east. Wasting time, I've just done too much of that..so I've quit nearly cold turkey..life has a habit of passing you by you know..

Well wishing doesn't do much good does it. Why don't you start playing piano now? How about that kung fu? Yea if I saved every dollar from the day I started working I'd have loads of money by now. And if I started working out this time last year, I'd have a six pack. Who doesn't think like that? It's just the way it is...you spent the time they way you felt like spending it, there's no use in crying about it now.
edit: (but yea videogames are kind of just a time killer)>> ^shinyblurry:

E3 2011: Prey 2 - Holy goddamn, Blade Runner, anyone?

NaMeCaF says...

Meh. Unless its in game it dont mean shit. These live action/CG trailers are as bad as the cool ass covers to old Atari 2600 games that had nothing to do with the game they were meant to depict.

Also, I dont understand why they need to try and label this as a sequel to Prey. Why not just make it a new IP / Franchise if it has little if anything to do with the first one?

I have it on my PS3 Just as fun BIGGER screen!

OK, good thing I don't have a video game console. I haven't had one since Atari 2600 unless a port exists on it.
