Eklek says...

G, the dark and trippy channel-ideas fall into my Dreamtrip 2.0 playlist
http://www.videosift.com/playlists/Eklek/Dreamtrip-20
An indie film channel could complement the cinema channel, but indie film is also cinema I think.

Björk talks about music snobbery: If you like it, play it

spoco2 says...

i agree with Björk, but i also think there's more to it. it's like what is art? for instance compare a 10 minute monotonous computerized drumbeat to a beautifully crafted dynamic masterpiece of emotion. it's a question of taste, but i think to the human ear some music will have more emotive content, it's still subject to taste though...
But that's not the point, we're not trying to say which has more integrity or worth, what we're saying is, why is a bad thing to like many different things? To suggest that one is only allowed to listen to or enjoy 'high art' pieces is utter crud. Let everyone enjoy what they want.

I wish for more 'good' music in the popular charts, but that doesn't make me attack people for liking what's currently on there. (Unless it's hateful, blatantly sexist or the like, but that's a different kettle of aquatic life)

What's That Smell? It's a MINK Roast! (Parody Talk Post)

Zifnab says...

I always thought a mink was a dark-colored, semi-aquatic, carnivorous mammal of the family Mustelidae, which also includes the weasels and the otters. Yet you *say* you don't eat meat, very suspicious.

I did manage to find a picture of MINK (he's on the right arm).

Alizée with J'en ai marre (the live sexy version)

oxdottir says...

In English, the song is called, I'm fed up

Bubbles and water
Legs up for hours
My goldfish is under me
To bathe for hours
Makes my mouth water
I'm foamely ecstatic
It's not a problem
I lazy 'round
Bubbly and stubborn

I lazy 'round
Melon and water
Is just a dream
It makes me wonder
Is it a sin?
Bubbles and water
Legs up for hours
Bombs, you keep away from me!
Today lying low
Twisting up my toes
I swim in such harmony
So what bothers me:

Chorus :
I'm fed up with loneliness
With my uncle overstressed
Fumbling, crawling for something
That never shows, just a dream.
I'm fed up with creeps crying
Over the past, such a sin
Not to be cool, but a fool
If I could mess up their rules.
I'm fed up with your complaints
Baby, well I'm not a saint!
Fed up with the rain, the plane
That makes me throw up again.
I'm fed up with all cynics
Bathing caps and all critics
I'm fed up with being fed up! Poor me !

Bubbles and water
Legs up for hours
My goldfish still under me!
Delight of pleasures
Aquatic treasures
A place out of misery, my fantasy

Jump in, the waters great!

spoco2 says...

supersparky... man, way to take something with which you haven't even bothered to look into, and conclude that science is wrong.

How about the description is actually a little out, in reality these islands rose out of the ocean as small islands are a want to do, and this lake was created as it happened, also through changes in sea levels. (http://www.fishnfins.com/Jelly%20Lake.html)

Now, a lake which is not kept fed by sea water will usually become fresh water over time via evaporation, except in this case:

"Fissures in the limestone island allow for the transfer of saltwater from the ocean, yet keep other forms of aquatic life outside."

So, yeah, we kinda do know how it came to pass.

Extraordinary Underwater Sculpture Gallery

mlx says...

An underwater gallery creates a whole new perspective on the world. Submerged objects are affected by different conditions both physical and emotional. Objects appear 25% larger and closer, colours are changed as light is absorbed differently by the water. The surface of the sea creates an ever-changing kaleidoscope of light, whilst its turbidity acts as a filter. The aquatic medium affords the viewer a multitude of angles and perspectives and thus transforms the traditional role of passive observer into an active process of discovery and engagement.

GOP Congressman: "Blacks...May Not Even Know How To Swim"

charlatantric says...

*sigh*.....

[...minorities make up a disproportionate number of drownings in the United States every year. In 2002, the most recent year for which statistics are available, nearly 650 children between the ages of 5 and 19 drowned. More than 40 percent of the victims were minorities.

The problem is even worse among black children between the ages of 5 and 19, who are 2.6 times more likely to drown than whites.

Such high rates among minorities, who make up less than a quarter of the U.S. population, signal a systemic problem in the aquatics industry. Experts say minority kids are not learning to swim as often or as well as their white counterparts. They blame a number of thorny issues surrounding the problem — race, class, culture, privilege, poverty — that make it difficult for the industry and minority groups to attack the problem head on.]

Harold and Maude: The First Date

Bird smokes a cigarette

daphne says...

Yeah, Polish birds are known for their debauchery...sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. That's all they ever think about. What about the children, man???

When I visited last year, we were caught in the midst of a street rumble between the Aquatic Warblers and the Three-toed Woodpeckers. I have never been so scared in all my life. Cut ya as soon as look at ya, those Warblers. Man, those birds are TOUGH.
