Amy Goodman detained & questioned about 2010 Olympics

As a Canadian and a Vancouverite, I am embarrassed that this happened. What has happened to my Canada?

Amen brother, as a fellow vancouverite I have never felt more shame for my city and my country. I hope we don't win a single medal on our own soil (again), due to all the horrible karma stirred up from this situation, taking billions of our tax dollars, not letting other countries practice on the turf THEY WILL BE COMPETING ON, and now this blasphemy, it makes me so disappointed and mad. Fuck you Vanoc, fuck you both provincial and federal government, and fuck you olympics in general.

There called olympic GAMES, not olympic I'm better then yous.

Canada...if you fall to the right-wing bullshit, we are all going to hurt in a major way.

Amy Goodman is one of the faces we should see on network TV; she is one of the voices who has proven true, time after time.

I drove home from a Thanksgiving Feast in Las Cruces and was stopped at the checkpoint.

Read Police State.

Fat fucking idiot with a 9mm asking me where I lived, where I came from, where I was going.

Canada, don't go the way of your idiot paranoid neighbors.

Amy Goodman is probably the truest voice on cable/dish TV.

Don't go the way of the knuckle-draggers.

Watching that man and hearing him speak makes me physically ill. I really loathe his extreme smugness and the constant grin on his face. The way he emphasizes his speech is also annoying, how it appears that he thinks every single thing he says is some kind of fundamental truth no matter how mundane a topic or point he brings up.

I'm sure he's a nice enough man in person, but for some reason there's just something about him that's extremely irksome. Just seems like some people just can't stand each other, most of the time for little to no real reason. For me it's this guy and that newswoman Amy Goodman.

G20: Epic Undercover Police Fail

Despite the fact that organizing an anti police brutality rally during G20 is a stupid attempt at attention mongering, if those were cops that's fucked up.
Of course, if the anarchists whiny bitches really wanted to stop that shit from happening they would just stop wearing masks and bandannas like that and show their faces.

Sounds like someone has never protested and doesn't understand how much the police/military/national guard/private security forces can fu** with your life if they know who you are...

Several news organizations were raided under false pretenses and all their audio/video/computer equipment taken "as evidence" to be returned weeks later at the national political conventions (e.g. - that NY group that broke the stories about NY police brutalities and blatant false official statements.) Most of the footage was from journalists embedded with the police, journalists that have national renown (like Amy Goodman - who was arrested anyway), or people who hid where they were staying so the police couldn't raid them.

There are several cases of instigators from the police trying to incite violence at a peaceful protest for, essentially, PR and crackdown purposes. One notable case up on Canada - I don't remember the details, but I saw the sift here. And many more cases of illegal behavior with a barely-shamefaced apology... only because they were caught.

Well, my point is that I don't think that you know what you are talking about, but you are more than welcome to your opinion.

added note: I don't support the breaking of personal property. I understand the argument that some people make for it, but I believe that people doing that are completely in the wrong.

Amy Goodman would do good for her cause to get some exercise before she looks any more like the cryptkeeper (There's a sale on downvotes today... available below!)

Clever boy. And there's a lot to be happy about when it comes to unspoiled wilderness even if the definition of "wilderness" is "a place where no-one goes". It's dumb luck that it was adjacent to a National Park.

But, I hope that I don't get labled a troll if I say that if we have oil, we should get it. Responisbly, and as soon as we can, so in short "drill baby carefully drill".

Proceedings for the transfer of the land is held off for the next administration and Amy Goodman implies that it'll be alright when Barry comes to town. I think she will be disappointed.
