Total War on Islam, Destroy Mecca Hiroshima style: U.S. Army

Total War on Islam, Destroy Mecca Hiroshima style: U.S. Army

chingalera says...

"Give Muslims democracy and they'll chill out because democracy is better than any religion."

Hmm. Not necessarily when one objectively considers the glaring inconsistencies in practice over principle with regard to our so-called, democratic government in the United States. If a good-ol-boy, corporate oligarchy to you is democracy, well??
A10anis' point is valid with regard to the comparisons made between the two "religions": Perhaps the Yahweh-followers of the Old Testament times might stone a woman, homosexual, etc. but society has come a long way since the dark-age examples you describe to draw comparisons to the two. The Muslim faith and her peoples in the middle east are a bit less advanced socially, spiritually. "Love thy neighbor as thyself" and "do unto others.." don't seem to factor into the Diaspora's majority, however: there are always, within any faith those who are bit further ahead of the curve.

Individual devotee's of all faiths serve as points of light or darkness which shape the attitudes of outsiders as a whole. Muslims seem to be a bit less up-to-speed with the rest of the world. For the sake of all, do we really want to allow oil-rich assholes decide the direction of the future for the planet? Besides, modern Persians' don't exactly have the best taste nor do they seem to spend their money wisely. I mean, c'mon?? A frikkin' amusement park in the middle of the desert??!

INSANE Fairground Ride.

artician says...

So many potential points of failure on this. I think the designer was as insane as his/her creation.

One thing that used to freak me out about amusement park rides was whenever I'd hear something metallic clang, or groan or anything. My mind would start wondering "okay... what just broke?"
Would be fun to make a ride that had some mechanism that intentionally made extremely disturbing noises like that, as though the whole structure was going to come down at any moment. Heh.

Tomorrowland 2011 | Official After Movie

Trancecoach says...

If this "movie" is going to show only the good and positive side of the music festival scene, then it's going to lose some of its audience. Regardless of how good the music is, it's going to make it seem like an amusement park, and not the drug-fueled, psychosexual initiation that it could be.

In other words, where are all the people who passed out in puddles of vomit on the floor of the port-o-potty?

Go See Hanna Instead of Cowboys & Aliens this Weekend (Blog Entry by dag)

spoilers...

@dag, but I don't think her emotional and psychological obstacles in the 3rd Act really translated into something tangible enough that she couldn't make quick work of Cate. I think the first time she was taken to that big government facility near the beginning of the movie was much more terrifying. For her and us as the audience. The fear was palpable, the situation was dire, and ultimately the stakes were really high. Then by the end it was just her and Cate in a weird closed amusement park. I get all the fairy tale visuals, and they're a wonderful touch, but Cate was not the biggest threat in the movie. At least not by herself.

Remember that scene where we first see Cate with a gun? She's inept. Not a threat without her team. And in the end, the entire climax is her by herself without her team. At any time Hanna could've snapped her neck. To me, once they got to that old man's home, the movie became sprawling, somewhat unfocused and then it changed its tone so it could shoehorn in a Grimm ending.

It's still a great movie, just not as great as it could've been. IMHO.

Swinging Physics: Potential And Kinetic Energy Working Together

Potential Into Kinetic
Swings work by converting potential energy into kinetic energy, then kinetic energy back into potential energy, over and over again.

The kinetic energy is the fast part of swinging; it’s the speed you have as you rush back and forth.

Potential energy is the high part of swinging.
The higher you go on the swing, the more potential energy you have.

No Joy

daxgaz says...

I grew up in Wichita and Joy Land was THE amusement park for a large area (the next closest park was 3hrs away). I have not been there in well over 20 years, but I still remember the layout of the park and know where each of these shots was taken. It's definitely sad to see somewhere that was such a happy place for many children decay like this.

However, to be fair, Joy Land really was a pretty low class operation for a very long time (as long as i can remember). What you can't see in this video is that there is a sewage treatment plant a few miles away (open pit type) and in the summer it would often waft through the park. Also, it got the nick name of "Gang Land" around town because it was near several bad neighborhoods. The gang kids (yes, there are gangs in Wichita Kansas), would have fights at the park. There were frequent fist fights, and occasionally stabbings and shootings. Additionally, The park was pretty small and the rides were poorly maintained. The scariest part of that roller coaster was seeing the occasional bolt come flying off as the coaster would go by and a regular rain of chipped paint coming down. I think at the time it was one of the oldest wooden coasters in operation and there is a reason they were phased out.

So, this video definitely causes mixed emotions in me. On the one hand, it's very sad to see a part of my childhood rot like this, but on the other hand, it's probably for the best that the place is gone.

I LOVE Elvira, I wish I could see her live lol

YEAH it is!

LOL @ your avatar of Elvira! She used to play every year @ the Halloween Haunt @ Knott's Berry Farm, which is a little amusement park in Buena Park, California. She suddenly wasn't doing it anymore for the last number of years (5-7, or something like that) and I wondered why. She seems like a lot of fun.
