Yep, this is why these oppressive regimes don't allow reporters to cover the events. Its easy to dismiss citizen journalism and question its authenticity. Both Iran and Syria kicked out all international reporters right before the crackdown.

Well to be fair, I'm pretty sure they kicked out all foreigners. Can't really blame them when Foreign Intelligence members are the main instigators of the rebellions.

Your statements are utterly disgusting Marbles. I don't care if you honestly believe the propaganda garbage being spewed by Bashir Al-Assad's government or not. The last time a revolution was tried in Syria, his father went to war with the Muslim brotherhood(not a gang the west is liable to use as a loving proxy) and the Syrian army turned nearly an entire town into a parking lot to demonstrate their 'point'.
Go listen to the accounts of the thousands of Syrian refugees in Turkey who fled the Military onslaught against civilians. Bashir Al-Assad's special forces executed nearly 120 army soldiers when the refused to fire on unarmed civilians.
It's is simply disgusting and inexcusable to defend the horrific onslaught against civilians that Syria is pursuing, even if you do loath America and deem it as the great Satan responsible for all the world's ills, in what world does that make it ok for Syria's army to go around killing unarmed civilians in massive numbers????????

I'm sorry you feel that way. I find it really disgusting you have to make me into something I'm not so you can attack me. I didn't say anything about killing unarmed civilians. The truth is we don't know who is killing the civilians. And for you to get so emotionally invested in it is foolish. BTW The Muslim brotherhood was started by British Intelligence. When you own both sides of the conflict, you always win.
I don't hate America, but I do hate the power elite that use the US government to be economic hit-men all around the world. Don't be fooled. That is exactly what is going on in North Africa/Middle East.

The truth is we don't know who is killing the civilians.

That IS disgusting. We do know who is killing them. The refugees that have succeeded in fleeing to Turkey are telling us it was Assad's troops killing them. The SAME Assad that kicked out all journalists that didn't work directly for him. Defectors who've fled to Turkey have similarly reported witnessing first hand that Assad's secret service executed Syrian soldiers that refused orders to fire upon unarmed civilians.

We KNOW who is killing who. Your refusal to acknowledge it is sick.

I hope she gets the message
Got to get her back, you know
Gonna track her down, I'll find that girl
Gonna tell her that I love her so
Put the word on the grapevine
Spread it all around the world
Sooner or later I know I'm gonna get her
I'm talking about my girl
My girl

Changing a Tire (In case you forgot from the last video)

BoneRemake says...

I honestly think that you should not have your license without knowing how to do such a simple thing as change a tire. All around the world, whatever standard you have, should include the ability to change out a tire.

I have it set in stone in my mind that no matter how sexy the girl, when I help her out in such a situation she is damn well going to be down there doing it with me learning a thing.

My buddy doesnt even know how to to it, he is one of those computer yuppies, piss' me off that people like that exist. relying on Gps and AMA. Whatever, makes another niche in the market for someone else to make money off of.

Two Thousand and Fifty Four Nuclear Explosions (1945-1998)

mxxcon says...

>> ^redyellowblue:

Take away the 2nd and 3rd nuke and I'm gona guess the death toll was near nothing over all those years, because they were tests... in a desert.. or remote area.
If each of those nukes were aimed at a populated city containing stuff people care about and infrastructure. It would be "yabba dabba doo time"

actually death toll from the radioactive fallout around those test sites and in general all around the world is probably much higher than Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.
i know my grandfather died from radiation exposure complication after his battalion was deployed to an area near an atmospheric nuke test site. they weren't told why they were deployed there and govt continues to deny that they there were any experiments involving army personnel.

Empathy is pretty important. He mentioned it at about the 20/min mark.
I remember as a child I was very empathetic, but I lost it along the way.
I know that I have driven past horrendous highway casualties, yet I have seen similar scenarios...on video...from all around the world, and everybody ran to help.
Why don't we run to help each other now, we Americans?
Too busy? Too important?
Or because it would cost us to help our fellow man/woman/child?
We're doing something wrong here.
The world will be better off when we start doing things right.

Because The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed.

That and everyone has a cellphones now. (AAA is pretty cheap roadside assistance in America, at least. There are also callboxes all along our freeways.)

Any MMO-Playing Sifters Out There? (Videogames Talk Post)

atara says...

I play WoW. So does my husband. We both have three level 80s, we raid three nights a week, and we're (reluctant) officers in a guild.

We consider WoW to be our in-home entertainment. We don't have cable or satellite TV. If we did, what would we do all evening? Probably sit on the couch and watch cable, which costs about $50/mo here. What do we do instead? We pay about $30/mo and sit in front of our computers all night. *shrug* We save about $20/mo, it's interactive, and we've met some really cool people from all around the world.

Prospective Principle Guidelines for the USA? (Blog Entry by blankfist)

dystopianfuturetoday says...

If you want to talk about silly ideologies, maybe you should start with your own.

Have you ever considered how convoluted your concept of liberty is? It excludes social liberty, opposes democracy and embraces the free market, which is a constant source of tyranny all around the world. There is no functioning example of this brand of 'liberty' in action, nor has there ever been, yet on faith alone you are 100% convinced that somehow such a style of governance would be a good idea.

Have you ever considered the possibility that you have been duped, and that the American libertarian movement is only telling you what you want to hear? Have you ever considered the possibility that the 'virtue of selfishness' was meant to discourage your own sense of empathy and community?

A coupla points:

-Why does American 'libertarianism' need to be joined at the hip with the so called free market? Doesn't this compromise it's objectivity? Doesn't this hamper it's ability to criticize free market tyranny? Why is it necessary to have a bond with a system that has wrought so much havoc on small countries and big countries alike?

-Have you ever wondered why the libertarian think tanks that tell you what to think (like Cato) are funded by large corporations and dubious individuals like Mellon Scaife? Do you think Richard Mellon Scaife, the Ford Foundation, Wal*Mart, the oil industry, the tobacco industry, credit card companies, etc. really all have your best interests in mind? Or is it possible that they have adopted disingenuous postures of liberty only to further their own interests?

I know you pride yourself on individualism and that in your own mind it is everyone else that has been taken for a ride, but have you ever considered the possibility that it is you that has been duped?

You've admitted that most of your friends are liberals, including the smartest person you know. You work in a creative industry populated primarily by liberals. You hang out on a website populated primarily by liberals.

Maybe it's not everyone else. Maybe it's you.

Amanda Palmer --Leeds United

notarobot says...

After this video was recorded, Ms Palmer's record label indicated a desire to edit out shots that showed her belly (apparently due to pudge?). This caused an outcry among her fans, and led to the development of the reBELLYon website and belly gallery in support of Amanda, her belly, and other bellies all around the world and in the media spotlight. In the end, the label backed down to defuse the situation. Since the controversy, Palmer has expressed dissatisfaction with her label and requested to be dropped from the company's roster.

Obama Speech In Cairo University, Egypt - 6/4/09 (Full)

volumptuous says...

Mustafa Ayad, 34 yrs old Iraqi, father of two, accountant:

"I think Bush has dragged the reputation of America into the mud by his aggressive actions, and that Obama is trying to recapture that former presence it had in the minds and hearts of people all around the world. But he asks us to forgive and forget – that is too much. Forgive and forget a million Iraqis killed over the period of occupation? Forgive and forget the indignities and the humiliation of having to scuttle over to the pavement for the "Lords" to pass us on our streets? Forget – and forgive Abu Ghraib? And the list is long. I cannot forgive and forget my relatives who were killed, displaced or detained and humiliated for mere suspicion. We lost our homes, our livelihoods and our families most of whom fled. But in spite of that I am willing to listen. I am willing to give Obama the benefit of doubt. It remains to be seen what he can do to put my country back together."

US Military Burns Bibles In Afghanistan To End Proselytizing

Yogi says...

This is interesting because the proper way to dispose of a the American flag is the burn it. Yet it's burned up in protest against America all around the world. I guess they used the same logic with the bibles then, burn them so as to properly dispose of them with dignity. Funny how that works, same action, different intentions = different results?
