Fed charges four officers in death of Breonna Taylor

newtboy says...

Yes, shot 5 bystanders as I recall, then they had a press conference where they minimized by saying “some bystanders were injured during the arrest”, never mentioning it was only police who shot….and they shot directly into a crowd of bystanders.
This is why I despise police. They’re often much worse than the “criminals”, do more damage, and walk away without so much as a “sorry” for shooting 5 people, much less accountability….in fact I recall the same chief, after hiding the details failed, blaming the victims for being on the public sidewalk after dark (in a nightclub/bar area) when police opened fire without warning.

I’ve still NEVER seen this mythological “good apple”.
It’s maddening.

yeah...it's the situation where a person doesn't burn down the house to get to the cockroaches...unless the house is condemned...and there are fire folks at the ready...and the vegetation isn't too dry...damn it...just want some sense when lives are in the balance.

where it'd be like shooting into a crowd to get a perp. akin to the recent event - where cops shot into a crowd to get a perp!

Dog attacks car trying to get to cat

bremnet says...

Or a good hard kick in the nuts or elsewhere for the dog. What a bunch of bullshit. Down here in TX, if a human climbs over my back fence after dark I can shoot the son of a bitch because I think he/she is going to steal my property or cause me harm. But if a dog tears up my car I can't do shit? Hmm. Something's screwed up here. Would be a damn shame if that free running dog got run over one day. You know, by accident. Real shame.

What a useless cop. No taser or pepper spray? Water hose? The lady should have just gotten into the car and driven off. Amazing they would both stand there doing nothing

City Lights To Dark Skies - International Dark Sky Week 2014

Ickster says...

As a kid, I was really into astronomy, but was always bugged by the fact that books would talk about seeing the Milky Way at night, and about the thousands of stars in the night sky. I figured there was something wrong with my eyes or something, because I could never find the Milky Way, and while I never counted the stars, I thought there were only about a hundred at best.

Then when I was about 12, we went camping and on a night with a new moon, I went outside the tent after dark. I looked up at the sky and literally got dizzy at the stunning revelation that was the real night sky.

Nowadays, I always try to plan family camping trips around the new moon so my kids get a chance to see the real sky, but even out in the middle of nowhere it is getting increasingly difficult to find a spot without at least one glaring streetlight or security light.

Mechanized Lumberjack. On flat ground. With skinny trees.

I'm not afraid of the black man running
He's got it right he's got a better life coming
I don't care what the captain said
I fold it right at the top of my head
I lost my sight and the state packs in
I follow my heart and it leads me right to Jackson

Oh Keller oh oh oh
She gave us a medal she gave us a map
Oh Canner Row, oh oh oh
If seeing is right, then look where you're at

I'm not afraid of Nichol's Park
I ride the train and I ride it after dark
I'm not afraid to get it right
I turn around and I give it one more try
I said things that I meant to say
The bandstand chairs and the Dewey Day parade
I go out to the golden age
The spirit is right and the spirit doesn't change

Oh Keller oh oh oh
She gave us mirror she gave us a map
Oh Canner Row, oh oh oh
If seeing is right then look where you're at

Andrew Jackson, all I'm asking
Show us the wheel and give us the wine
Woohoo! Woohoo!
Raise the banner, Jackson hammer
Everyone goes to the capitol line
Woohoo! woohoo!
Colored preacher, nice to meet you!
The spirit is here and the spirit is fine!
Woohoo! Woohoo!
Education, ask the nation
You gave us our sight and the hearing is fine
Woohoo! woohoo!
Andrew Jackson all I'm asking
Give us the wheel and give us the wine

Seattle Shootings May 30, 2012

id worry far more about domestic violence here in WA.. we're all too busy driving to our jobs, trying to enjoy the non-rainy days, and get our medical mj.
tons of guns, not too many people, not too many random shootings. seattle is still that small city you can be safe in.

I wish I could agree with you about the small city vibe ... I've lived here my whole life [minus one year on Kauai] ... I even worked at bars in Pioneer Square back in the 70's ... I won't set foot there after dark in this day and age [and it's NOT because I'm an old fart now either by gum].

So far, just in the past month or two, there has been an overabundance of random, senseless shootings that have impacted many innocent lives. They haven't been confined exclusively to the areas where one might expect such occurrences either. As with many places in this world, few things are getting better and, in Seattle, I feel things becoming palpably worse in regard to public safety.

I do agree with you about domestic violence being a serious issue as well however.

Thanks for chiming in =o)

Triple A is great for situations like that. A lot of people are afraid to let strangers into their cars after dark.

I have never had a vehicle break down in my 15 years of driving. I have had to tow a car because someone decided it was time I drove into their car, but never have I had a fuel pump shit out on me. AMA (Alberta motor association) is not worth the money in my mind, a cell phone is the course I will take from now on. I understood that mentality DFT when I was the one in the cab looking at the sucker with the thumb out, but being on the other side of the glass changed that view. I came to the conclusion while walking that distance that " if no one helps me when I need help, if people can turn a blind eye for fear of what the Internets and other radical thinking bullshit they construed in their heads... next time I am in a position to help I will "

It really kicks you in the nuts when someone pretty well tells you to fuck off when you need help. My balls are black and blue.

I started to come up with a plan for a vest the has led's on it that flashes " help " while you are walking along the side of the road to alert others you are in need and that it signals you are there. But at the and of my journey today I figured I would make the vest with LED's and have it say " fuck off, keep driving " all the while letting others know you are on the shoulder walking.

The Poop Snake

At Dubai's only sewage treatment plant there are long queues and serious delays.
Truck drivers who are paid by the lorry load to collect waste from the city's septic tanks wait for several hours to dispose of their foul cargo legally.
There simply is not the capacity to deal with all the human waste the city dwellers produce.

"After dark some drivers are taking a shortcut and dumping their loads straight into manholes meant only for rainwater."

Bear Stalks Man

I had a mother bear with three cubs living in my back yard a few years ago. I first noticed the bears as I walked into the back yard after dark with my dog on a leash. I went through the gateway, into the back yard, next to a tree. The three cubs were in the tree (up higher) and the mother was in the tree about four feet above my head. The bear slid in the tree, scratching the bark - that's the only way we know it was there.

Sounds very similar to the common Drop Bear attacks here in Australia. Only difference is, you'd be instantly dead

I think the flash of light stalled it enough for me to run back to the front door.
I'll tell you - you don't stop to think. You just get out of there. Where do you go when there is no house to hide in? He mentions just being a short way off from camp and I suspect a vehicle which would be the next best bet.
The bear at my place, then came around to the back sliding glass door and and watched our every move for the next two hours. They stayed for a week feeding the cubs on our apple trees.

My dog slept outside every night before that but hasn't since.
There's much more to the story but it get's long so I'll leave it at that.

Fixed and thanks!

N'worries!
I remember absolutely loving this screensaver back in the day. I think I bought it at Sam's Club for something ridiculous like $35. What were we thinking???

I still love screen savers! I still use them too even though they don't help my LCD monitors. I do love watching funny, pretty, etc. I have 24, Matrix, fish tanks, DNA, etc.
