Remote control Spy Turtle watches dolphin pods

SFOGuy says...

I was thinking the same thing; for dolphins, which live in an acoustic, not visual world, I wonder if all the coloration and stuff even makes a difference; I mean, to the dolphin's sonar, unless it's been very careful matched, fiberglass/plastic can't be bouncing the same as a flesh and shell---or can they?
Still, cool. Because dolphins, the jesters of the deep...

They can immediately tell it's not real through use of their sonar, which gives them an ultrasound-like picture of the insides of it.

I imagine that's why they find it so fascinating. Had they thought it the real deal, they wouldn't be paying any special attention to it. If the goal of the program was to document natural behavior, it's died aborning.

But selenites would develop acute sensitivity to acoustic vibrations transmitted through the regolith. Good luck bunny hopping back to the safety of you lander, Lander Calrissian.

The Space Lady ~ Major Tom

Some of the best music I've ever heard came form the street performers in SF-Two in particular stand out: One guy on Haight St. played acoustic guitar and all of his arrangements he had learned by ear by spinning 78rpm rarities in his personal collection. His technique was reminiscent of each of the artists (all from the 20s-30s) he appreciated. Carl Kress, Dick McDonough, and Django Reinhardt . Guy was genius.

Another lady in her late 50s would camp out in front of the Castro theater and play musical saws. She was a hit with the gay boys and gals in the Castro, always had a fat saw-case fulla semolians.

One cat, in a wheelchair, played this modified electric slide guitar he had made himself, with the amp and battery supply all included in his wheelchair. His groove sounded like an amalgam of many great rock guitarists from the 60s, Hendrix, Beck, Page....that guys groove was SICK! Always tossed him those dillies on his watch.

It studies wave height, acoustic signals, water temperature and density, and collects meteorological data.

I added this and a bit more information to the video description.

Everything about this terrifies me. I would be on that thing, even knowing and understanding exactly what's going on, hyperventilating with fear and plotting my escape route. What exactly does it study?

I was curious about this question also. The strings are intriguing to me because wikipedia says the instrument traditionally uses silk strings, but they look like catgut and sound like nylon to me. My best guess is that they are actually nylon, so the pickups would have to be piezo/microphone type things instead of magnetic pickups like for an electric guitar.

A piezoelectric pickup (one of a few options for acoustic guitar amplification) just looks like a small disc, so that could be tucked away someplace not highly visible on her instrument which would explain why we can't readily see it. So, that's my best guess but I could easily be wrong.

Just curious. On a technical note, where is the electrical pickup on this instrument? I see that there is a patch cord plugged in to the side but don't see a visible pick up. Forgive my ignorance on the gayageum.
