It's a good thing I'm white, because I did get caught illegally growing "drugs" at 18, was offered "drug diversion" which was 4 hours watching film strips about drugs and 6 months of lax probation, then my record was expunged with no felony....not even a fine, just $200 for the program fees.

I seriously doubt I would have gotten the same treatment if I wasn't a white college student at the time.

Because of that special treatment, I managed to keep my charge a secret from even my mother until this Xmas when I finally told her.... 30 years after the fact. I know others who went to prison for longer than my probation over a joint....in another state.

I think it's safe to say they let you in on the general idea of what is happening.

Yep. No surprise, that's why they snuck it in last minute and tried to pass it before it could be read. Fortunately, to get the votes they tried to connect some of the tax cuts to economic triggers, which is apparently illegal somehow, so the bill is being rewritten today. This might stay in anyway, it just isn't a secret Xmas present to the zealots anymore.

I think not. Maybe I underestimate their numbers and clout, but never the anger and outrage they cause...I just think it's overblown insanely.

Consider atheists who have endured millions of merry Xmas's, happy Chanukahs, and myriad of other religious holidays we might find insulting or divisive. We don't complain until it's espoused in publicly owned areas. If not spreading your beliefs on my dime causes you utter resentment, you are the one with the problem of entitlement.
If someone gets upset that you said merry Xmas, they have personal issues.
