Boss's Special attack kills your wifi

uhmmm... you guys really do vote for the person and not for the video. You got logged out of PSN network in the middle of a game... this video has no redeemable value, it isn't funny, nore related to wifi.. and it gets 15 votes.
Videosift is officially dead.

I don't find it very funny either, but your comment is rude. Learn to accept that other people find other things funny and you might be able to relax and enjoy life a bit more.

Oh yes, gives me the absolute craps. I've watched, say, 30% of a video with it in the window, and it's loaded the entire thing already, then I decide I would like to see it larger and the DAMN THING pauses, then reloads the entire rest of the video all over again even though I had already done it. If I wanted to see it at 480p I would select it, don't force it on me.

Yes, yes, yes it needs to be an option to switch this off, gives me the shits.

Their android app is just as bad, it always default to high quality when on Wifi, with no option to disable this (you can only chose that you would like it to default TO high even if you're on mobile).

Yeah, well, for some reason or other my phone doesn't like to play the hi quality streams nicely so I would LIKE to be able to define that I DON'T want it to default to high quality... but NOOO.

It's like they WANT to waste bandwidth.

+1 for Barcode Scanner (it's not great at 1D codes, but very good with 2D QR-codes)
Dolphin Browser HD (better than the built in browser)
PdaNet (allows single laptop usb or bluetooth tethering, instead of paying $30 extra per month for Wifi hotspot)
Angry Birds (highly addictive game)
Andoku (best free sudoku of the several I tried)
Fring (multi protocol chat)

Also, in defense of Advanced Task Killer - it only kills what you ask it to. If you don't get overzealous with the settings, it's useful in killing some of the provider-installed crapware that seems to randomly run in the background for no reason (Sprint Zone, ESPN, Nascar, Amazon MP3 - all apps that I can't delete without "rooting" the phone).

I've got a Sony Ericsson X10. I'm not too sure how similar the two phones are, but I believe they share the same app marketplace.

There's a couple that I'd recommend, they seem useless but actually have their purposes. First and foremost (as sad as this is) there's a Tricorder app in the style of Next Gen. What I use it for (other then nerding out) is it's got a decent wifi signal detector that gives you the names and strength of access points, aswell as a few other nifty things.

Track ID if you don't already have it is nifty, And (not sure if this is exclusive to my phone or not) Google Goggles. You essentially take a picture, the phone scans it, and google comes up with a result (if it finds something). Particularily useful for scanning things like movie posters, or book covers.

and lastly, just because it's something I enjoy, I have "Tune in radio", it streams radio over the web, so you can get your stations no matter where you are. (Walking for instance, although using it without being connected to a wireless hub'll cost you)

Then just use wifi, and don't get any contract, I hope they put out only ONE version.

Android! micro SD card, Flash support, TV out, several key things missing from an ipad... Specs seem nice.

I wonder if they're going to put out a wifi-only version. Don't like contracts.

Internet Stars for Internet Freedom

westy says...

Well the thing is this ,

1) net is not nutral in the first place , web page speed is denoted by how good your hosting is , get a cheep host have a cheep website (so large corps generaly get far faster pages)

2) people are realying on sites like you tube to spred content , thats got nothing to do with net nutrality thats to do with one large company hapaning to take a loss in one airea which alows people to post videos for free and not pay for hosting

3) Your conectoin speed and bandwidth is denoted by your ISP have a shit ISP then your internet is slow again this is finacaily and geographically dependent .

4) larger companies can aford to saturate the itnernet with adverts diverting trafic to there websites and away from indipndent websites and services.

I reolise the piont is that the ISP's and hosts should treat all traffic the same so that you dont end up with totaly clossed off parts of the internert , but thing is ISP's have been controling and throtaling typs of traffic for years now.

allso should the internet get fucked by large coperatoins then there is nothing stoping people from making a new internet protocall and hosting it themselfs , like a NEW BBS or a typ of.

Id actualy love to see a new PEAR to PEAR internet start , im not sure exactly how you would do it or how pheseable it is , but if there was enoughf wifi saturatoin maby you could creat some insane pear to pear web that works kinda like News groups and Bit torrent.

btw i am for a nutral internet , im just not quite sure what that means obvously its easy to get the idea of it but on the grand scheem of things im not sure if its evan possable to have a nutral internet. and that evan if the net was not nutral u can still have services like you tube , wikipdea that provide a voice to people.

I really think he could have nipped the wifi thing if he didn't keep coming back to it after the initial request. Now it's all people are talking about.

Honestly, screw apple with their over priced tech. But he seemed like a sweet old nerd, to finally see him doing a talk.
