Chop Suey in Rock Band 2 on Real Drums with the Omega GM-1

Zawash says...

The sound we hear hasn't got anything to do with the drums played in the video, other than faint thuds from hitting the pads - watch the drum fill at 0:29 - he plays a drum fill, but we still hear the regular drums from the original track.

As well - even if this was a "proper" rock band recording, you'd only trigger the pre-recorded sounds anyway, save for the odd drum fill.

For a Rock Band session to qualify as a livemusic, in my opinion, you'd have to overdub the drums with the sounds generated from a proper drumkit - electronic or acoustic.

And yes, I own and play rock band myself - I have an Alesis Dm10 kit hooked up with MIDI for proper drums, the Rock Band Keyboard for proper keyboard and the Fender Squier plastic fantastic "Strat" for MIDI guitar. It is especially fun with friends and beer.

Why is this not live music ? if sum one was playing the drums from sheet music with a tape recording of the other instruments they are doing exactly the same thing.

PS4 Announcement - Abridged Version

I like the idea of a touch pad on the controller that isn't a gimmick (i.e. wiiu controller, which as of now can only use one touch screen).

If I could toss all my home theater crap in a closet so I never have to see it again, I would. (if I didn't have to fill my closet with snowgear I would have done this.) But I look at a spending $600- $800 on a console as crazy. If I'm going to buy something I need the games, better cords, more controllers, some memory card i won't use, more games, strat guides, etc.. Gosh that is expensive, who does that?!

Then I look to my "new" computer which it will be used to surf here and some games --that's it. It currently sits in boxes. The new box is halfway built, still lacking a mobo/ram/psu and I have about $800 invested in it. Probably going to dump easily another 400 to 500 in it, but that okay in my messed-up-I-need-this-to-live-mind.

because that is sane.

I'm really surprised so many people actually give that big a shit about how the console actually looks. Seriously, how often do you sit and just stare at the console itself?

I've found myself migrating from my 360 to the PS3, it's just a better system for gaming. You can buy most new releases online (Games on Demand is pathetic), you don't have to pay for MP, you don't have to put up with MS's constant dashboard changes that are consistently awful, nor put up with superfluous BS like Avatars and the Welcome screen.

The only thing I don't like is the controller, and the PS4's controller looks great (except the stupid Share button), so I'm quite excited for the PS4, but also keen to see what MS will be offering and if they'll cock it up

Is that considered rude? I thought the point of the game was to win?

People get upset about "cheese" because it's much easier to do than playing a long-term game and tends to rely more on chance than skill.

On the other hand, people tend to lose to cheese because they're either opening with a greedy build (lots of workers and very little defense), they're not scouting what their opponent is doing, or they don't choose an appropriate response to the cheesy strat.

Pros cheese in tournaments all the time. If you lose to cheese then there's no one to blame but yourself.

Best 10pool EVAR -- TheLittleOne (Z) vs Haypro (Z)

Jinx says...

err, I don't understand. What's so special about this game? I kept waiting for something awesome to happen and it never did.

If you want to see some inventive Z cheese/rush go watch Root.Catz play, specifically on Steppes of War back when it was a ladder map. Against P he used to 7 pool, drone up to 9 food and then double extractor trick to get those 6 lings without needing that first ovie. After that he'd contain the P with his early lings, expand to the gold, take both gas and tech to banelings. I watched him beat a player that knew exactly what he was going to do with that strat. <3 that guy, not the strongest player by any means, but always a lot of fun to watch play.

If that doesn't sound like fun then I suggest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NfbGoz3p8g from TSL3. Mondragon decides the best counter for a Protoss air army is...nore roaches. Watch to see why its one of my favorite games.

SOTN is definitely one of the more playable games from that first generation of PS1 games. It really holds up even today and though it is definitely the type of game that requires a strat guide if you have any inclination of finding everything, it is an absolutely great play!

How to win a game of Starcraft 2 in one minute

Terran hides his building by lifting off. Protoss scouts where T's base should be and doesn't find it. Terran writes a fake error message in chat, Protoss assumes Terran never connected/whatever and leaves. Terran wins by default.
For those butthurt over griefing or w/e...srsly? This is a lot less obnoxious than a 6pool, or 5 rax reaper proxy gates or any other kind of all in rush build, and those are viable strats. Maybe not good ones, but viable all the same. Part of graduating from noob is learning how to deal with this shit, and you learn by failing. This particular strat WILL fail 99% of the time, so really no need to feel bad for the guy who got tricked.

I get that, but you win...? So what? Does that affect your stats or something?

I haven't played an RTS since WarCraft 2. They annoy me now.

Stunning Starcraft II TV Commercial

GeeSussFreeK says...

O totally. I know it is exaggerated to an extent, but that is only because I am relating it to other games where there are tons of unit types and larger groups of strats to use. I never said I didn't like SC, just didn't prefer it. The part I hated the most was just the fact that offensive units were always the focus. I liked the idea of building up mega ultra buildings that win the game from your base. SC rewards those who win with their army, which has a certain appeal, but it is/was not what I was looking for in an RTS exactly. In other words, I wanted my game to start at 15 mins not be a forgone conclusion.

Morgan Freeman On Black History Month

8296 says...

I don't know about you guys but I appreciate black people and culture. All of my favorite music was copped from a black man take for instance the original dub music which was called "Blue Beat" into the genius that is Lee "Scratch" Perry which was copped by every little white guy with a strat and suit to create shit-ska, or even much before that - Bukka White slapping his steel string guitar which was copped by many a mountain crooner - Can't forget the crazy zany and otherworldly Sun Ra Arkhestra of which many a neo-post-rock project wish and try to copulate; or how about the little-known noise/trance/congotronic Congolese group I rip off a lot named Konono No. 1? And I mean I didn't even begin to speak about Ethiopian music from the 60-70s (check out Ethiopiques or just try on Muhmoud Ahmed - f'n amazing).

But, outside of music even though there has been a black history month for a long ass time now kids just don't understand Dr. King! Listen to his damn speeches, oh young and flighty ones - he didn't just speak about his dreams he spoke about "RADICAL ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION"! As history repeats itself it is evident to remember to pay attention to your local black community; they know what is going on!

Obama faces racism in West Virginia

Democrat paradox? "Vote for Obama because he's Black."

Hillary lead Obama even among black voters in most of the leadup to the campaign, it was only when the "fantasy" and other comments were made in South Carolina early on in this thing that people started to turn to Obama. I doubt that's when they first noticed he was black. Personally I saw little difference between the two until after the race was on so I didn't much like either, what made my choice was pretty simple. I'll offer you the words of a Conservative icon for why.

The Democrats have firm principled beliefs. What motivates most Republican leaders? Nothing except a craving for power. What do Republicans offer voters? Nothing except “Elect us because we’re not Democrats.”

That's a quote from a recent article written by the man known as the "funding father" of conservative causes and one of the biggest movers behind repub mass mail efforts, he and those like him fed and grew the party over recent years. I don't really agree that dems have firm, principled beliefs, but they do talk them. Now if only they'd vote that way too I might start to believe it. It's the public impression these days though.

http://ultimatejohnmccain.com/blog_post/show/17?eid=35f115ef74d62ec3303825bab766831c

The reason Barrack is doing better than her is the same reason dems in general are doing better than repubs these days. Hillary decided to campaign as if she were the repub and Obama the dem and she did it in the Democratic primary. The nation as a whole has turned away from that type of politics, she was 5 or 10 years too late for that type of strat to work like she wanted it to and just didn't notice that the nation was changing under her. Not quite ready on day one this time.

If she had campaigned with some class instead of aggression she'd have had the nomination handed to her on a platter and Obama would be the VP maybe, instead we heard insults about him from day one and claims about "ready on day one" she couldn't live up to about her. Built up those expectations herself then didn't live up to it. She threw it away, nobody took it from her.
