Lowes Truck Driver Busted With Hooker

Mashiki says...

I noticed a few people mentioning having more police. Part of the problem is people have to engage in their communities as well to ensure that they dislike that type of conduct. Otherwise it's kill a few rats(or catch and release, because prostitutes always pay their fines and most don't want any help). It always isn't the easiest solution either. When you're working with CPTED solutions, it also requires other agencies to work at it. Since I can't say what type of shit rats are actually in that area I can't even guess.

But I'll say this, from my uniquely Canadian PoV. Victimless crimes are victimless, while society frowns on it; it becomes more of an issue on the spin offs from it. Those being the ones who get hooked on the drugs, petty theft, B&E, and so on. That's the more pressing concern, because as an area continues the slide down hill, it simply picks up in pace.

Regardless of all that, the guy with the camera is an idiot. The community has serious social, economic and civil issues that have to be dealt with, and it's not a thing that's going to change over night. A near-by city took nearly 20 years to get rid of the shit rats, now that area is a fine upstanding area with houses in the 250k-500k range, with no exceptional criminal element in a middle-class section of the city. (It just shifted to a new area, and again the fight begins a anew).

Using nuclear explosions to propel spaceships: Project Orion

gtjwkq says...

>> ^Raaagh:

Nah, I disagree.
its been estimiated that for every dollar the US government put in, they got a return of seven with all the space race technology spin offs. Whats the chances within 3m of you right now there are objects which have some off this technology imbued?

Ever stop to think how much more money could be made if it wasn't inefficiently researched by NASA?

Space research should not be the role of government.

I think there is something fatalistic to turn your back on space.

I'm not turning my back on space, I'm turning my back on government pursuing it. The reason it seems necessary for govt to pursue it is cost, what I'm saying is: let costs go down (or technology advance) and that problem will solve itself.

Thank god there is a plethora of commercial investors (Branson most notably) with the money and the foresight, and most importantly - WILL to move the stars closer.

Agreed.

Jim Lahey from Trailer Park Boys interviewed by Jim Nunn

nerbula says...

It is a good thing they stopped the show, seriously, any idea such as the one trailer park boys was based on got milked already, six seasons, a movie. all based on that happened in one trailer park, they developed so much over the years the best you can hope for is a spin off, which would suck. It is good they are done. Like a peach you want to eat it when its ripe not when its old brown shrivled and nasty. Southpark should think of doing the same. its done with in my eyes, they should of stopped two seasons ago.

I think it's too early in human development to actually go to space. We did go to the Moon and back and sent a robot to Mars with taxpayer money.
Society needs to become a lot more productive, with cost saving technologies that will allow voluntary funding for projects of this magnitude. The space age will fail if it is pursued by governments agencies.
When we find good economic reason to go to space, it will naturally become a worthwhile endeavor for private citizens and companies to profitably undertake.
Right now, NASA is, mostly, a waste of money. That statement will make more sense when the economy collapses.

Nah, I disagree.

Plus there is never a time to not think of space, IMHO. It lifts the considerations of each individual into the realm of infinity where wars, resource scrabling and politics shrink into insignifigance. Space and more importantly, the sparking of the WORLD's collective imagination and hence cohesion.

I think there is something fatalistic to turn your back on space.

Megadeth - "Peace Sells"

blankfist says...

Certainly their best album. Arguably. Without google I can still remember all of the band: Dave Mustaine, Dave Ellefson (sp?), Gar Samuelson (with cigarette burns) and Chris Poland.

Chris Poland had a rad spin off album called 'Damn the Machine' early 90s that didn't do too hot. I still bought it.

Renault F1 Crash @ Dubai Autodrome

EDD says...

^ I mean absolutely no disrespect to rally drivers (cause it's a completely different experience of driving and takes tremendous skill, too), but this crash showed the man really was pretty much utterly incompetent as far as F1 driving goes.

Q: Why did he crash?
A: He was going too slow - there was obviously WAY too little downforce generated, which would have provided the necessary traction for the car to not freaking spin off while GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. If this would have happened in the first corner, I wouldn't make such a big deal out of it - and I wager it's probably what Renault expected would happen - but he must have been instructed against this a hundred times, yet he still made the mistake. So yeah, epic fail.

Responding To A Microwave Hater

So Battlestar Galactica is Over. Thoughts? (Scifi Talk Post)

gwiz665 says...

Lost is superior in every way. BSG was good up until, well, basically everything with Hera was for naught. "Angels" or whatever they were. Kara Thrace ended up just being crap. I like things that make sense and as weird and fucked up Lost is, it makes much, much more sense than BSG. Rest in Piece, BSG, you died a horrible death. Hopefully no one is going to resurrect your stinking corpse in a spin-off.

(oops..)

>> ^EDD:
I'm sorry I only have the time to downvote a couple of pretentious tossers' comments, and sorry that I don't have the time to delve into the revelations at the moment, but rest assured I will take the time in the next 24 hours or so to express how I felt/feel about the finale.
And gwiz, what the frak is that, equating Lost and BSG?... You are dead to me.

Why Spin-offs don't work - 1970s Spiderwoman Cartoon

K0MMIE says...

Yeah, I don't get the point of this title either, she is not a spin-off or a knock-off. She just shares a similar name. She just recently had one of THE most pivotal roles in the last Marvel Event Secret Invasion.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Movie Trailer (Japan)

14087 says...

Ah hell, I'll upvote even though it belongs on the Terrible channel.

How is it Mortal Kombat 1&2 (horrible games) managed to spin off one enjoyable film, but a dozen Street Fighter titles can't lead to compelling trailer?

P.S. I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but Lana Lang is 90 lbs soaking wet. And Canadian. Why not make this Atilla: Battle Angel instead?

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - First Full Trailer

alizarin says...

Looks like they're doing "origins" movies so they don't have to pay the existing actors as much.

From wikipedia:

Each X-Men film was more expensive than the last, with larger salaries and more spectacular visual effects.[17] Fox chose the "divide and conquer" route for the franchise with multiple spin-off prequels focusing on Wolverine, Magneto, the young X-Men, while director David O. Russell expressed interest in a film about Emma Frost.

How do you buy music? (Music Talk Post)

Deano says...

This thing about bands having to perform live to make money while everyone downloads the music for free...
I just don't see it as being sustainable and clearly pre-recorded music sales aren't chump change. Clearly some of the bigger bands are and will continue to be big draws but that doesn't mean everyone can supplement their CD sales in the same way.

The impact of music videogames on sales of recorded music is very interesting. Kotaku cites a Gamasutra report in which it's stated that Aerosmith have earned more from their Guitar Hero spin-off Guitar Hero:Aerosmith than from any single one of the fourteen albums they have released to date.

Interesting article;

It's funny that digital downloads onto consoles with heaps of DRM *is* acceptable by lots of gamers.

Stewie Crushes Grapes

Throbbin says...

Nice. I wonder what the grape-lady thinks of these videos and spin-offs? Someone she knows must forward them to her.

Maybe she'll run for the Republicans in 2010. Or write a book. Or start a website. Or make a country music album.

How to put a bra on

schma says...

From DOA (Dead or Alive). Based on the video game series, mostly known for it's boob physics, and "beach volleyball" spin-off.

I've not seen the movie, but this trailer snippet has been floating about a while.

Little Britain USA - Grandma and Connor

rottenseed says...

>> ^Oblyvious:
OMG please tell me that HBO is not showing Little Britain USA. Oh its an insult to the original. This clip just was not funny at all. Im ashamed.

You're probably one of those "The British version is better" type of people. Well, like America, any spin off Britain is leaps and bounds better.

(not really)
