I have a friend who speaks Brazilian Portuguese and says she can't understand Portugal Portuguese at all. Could it be that this girl is pseudo-speaking a Brazilian dialect? (Just a guess)

@enoch, just for the record, let's be clear about the timeline in this thread. There were a few posts then ching made a post complaining about the video, and making an irrelevant ad hom on Darwin. Some people down voted him for it, and that seems fair to me in that it wasn't a useful or interesting comment. Personally, I didn't, because I know that's what he wanted.

He then got all defensive, and posted more pseudo-philosophical persecution complex bollocks, which I then called him on. It wasn't even a very harsh comment, but then he decided to respond and just kept digging.

Unsurprisingly, other people took umbrage at this.

my problem with @chingalera is not his use of flowery language, but just that he's so bad at it. I can wax eloquent with the best of them and if the situation warrants, I have a positively egregious vocabulary of verbose verbiage in my arsenal of debating devices, argumentative arms and combative communications, but frankly, it's just not needed most of time, and invariably simple language communicates better.

The main issue I have is it's just so pointless. His language is always vague, and I'm increasingly convinced this is deliberate, merely so he can pick and choose how to be offended.

So mission accomplished, another thread derailed, and chingaleras narcissism quotient for the day is filled.

Statism Is Dead ~ The Matrix As A Metaphor

Get yer college money back, they robbed you

"System" are born of control and no model to date has proven beneficial to but a small group of those who have, and of the rest who struggle to imagine-

Name the few facts you mentioned, elucidate on just how blown-out-of-proportioned the succinct statements you imagine are thus, forget the nuanced investigation entirely outside of what you instinctively know to align with your own apparatus afforded you through innate common sense and your experience in the world thus far.

If you're bored with your slave designation my advice to you is, seek professional help or a more righteous livelihood.

Life in this realm...everything but boring.

Perception is a motherfucker.

Statism Is Dead ~ The Matrix As A Metaphor

kevingrr says...

I studied English and Philosophy in school and have continued reading a lot of utopian/dystopian literature since. My familiarity with economics and economic history pales in contrast, but the close relationship with subjects I am interested in has caused me to spend some time and consideration learning what I can.

That said, when I see a video like this I lump it into the same pseudo intellectual/science/news that things like Bill O'Reilly, TYT, Kirk Cameron, Creationists and bigots bring to mind.

Why did I watch this? Well I'm open to listening to legitimate and informative critiques of socioeconomic systems. If they are particularly good it can lead to all sorts of follow up questions and inquiries. I get bored while i'm "slaving" away at work so I put things on in the background...

Then there videos like this. There are very few facts throughout the entire video. The analogies used are misleading. The terrible acts and downfalls of groups, individuals, or particular ideologies are often blown out of proportion entirely. There is no nuanced investigation, no insights, nothing but a self satisfied narrator with droll delivery.

Thanks for rummaging through my videos for dead links. I'll pass on using my downvote on this video.

Not Everyone Is Cut Out To Be A Soldier

Chairman_woo says...

They deliberately treat recruits like children (amongst other things) to put them in a state where they will be more receptive to re-programming. (other things like "yes drill Sgt." also help re-enforce the pseudo parent-child relationship)

It's one of the reasons child soldiers are so effective, if you can get someone into that childlike state of openness and obedience to authority you can basically re write their whole personality. (and naturally that's easier with an actual child)

The same goes for religious indoctrination, get them young enough (or regress an adult far enough) and you can turn them into a genuine fanatic.

What is DMT

shagen454 says...

I agree with ya.

There are a lot of jumping to conclusions and pseudo-scientific & "spiritual" & "mystical" hyper-babble in there.

It's really not about being "right" about anything; I think when people go on their spiels about it - there is a lot of personal fervor and frustration that this is obviously something extremely important to study because it "seems" like the "impossible". That it is so impossible to describe that it seems like anything or everything. Even when I think about times I have been under it and try to imagine what it was like I feel like I am going to bust reality wide open.

I do believe that it is bizarre that this chemical exists and seems to interact with us in an extremely intense and vivid way. It will be interesting to find out what scientists find out about this thing in the next 50 years and hopefully they can figure out more than "It is attaching to 5-HT_ & 5-HT_ receptors".

In 2013 scientists found that a rat's pineal gland contains this molecule so the future is going to be pretty interesting on this topic.

Does this guy think that if he says ONE thing that is correct (or at least sounds correct) that people should believe everything every other thing he says on that topic? It sure seems that way to me.

Cops using unexpected level of force to arrest girl

ChaosEngine says...

No. I'm not doing this. I don't know if you're being condescending or trying to appear intellectual or if you have some genuine inability to communicate clearly, but I cannot be bothered engaging. It's like trying to debate Deepak Chopra... it's just a mass of run-on sentences and points hidden behind pseudo-intellectual mumbo-jumbo.

Also, funnily enough, I'm not interested in arguing with someone who believes they are superior because they alone can see the "programming" that the rest of us sheeple have been brainwashed with.

chingalera said:

@ ChaosEngine-One example of cops barely being able to handle a situation that grows increasingly widespread, reaching into the land of the mounties as well-Believe it ChaosEngine, that prisons and the military and the police all follow the same recruitment scenario with a larger picture beyond what you and most so flippantly believe in using your senses and the programming that has been driven-into you 24/7 365 through constant reinforcement through television commentators, so-called alternative media sources, et-all.

Speaking with someone form Canada recently regarding corporal punishment in U.S. schools, they were aghast to hear that such a thing exists or existed this due primarily to a completely alternate scenario there, their TV programming not having been hi-jacked by perpetrators of the condition that exists in America today, rampant crime, over-bloated prisons, homelessness, poverty of education, a few items on a long list of defective and deliberate aspects of the control-grid of assholes who run the show.

Say that you are not effected by such a ruse and you either are oblivious or from another country. You simply haven't been to war yet nor have you likely never been a victim of injustices that effected yourself on a personal level.

Admittedly, I have always fought the system's cues to conform to injustices, and the fight is daily, as evidenced here in trying to convince those still inebriate, of an obvious condition. SO they whined and justified their actions. Great. The State says its ok, it must be thus, right?

Fox Using Magnetic Field Resonance to Target Prey

rychan says...

What kind of babble is this? Be specific, how is he actually using the magnetic field to tell where the prey is? Why does that depend on being North Aligned? How does facing north help plot a trajectory? Sounds like pseudo-science BS.

Russell Brand's Spiritual and Political Awakening

ChaosEngine says...

Loaf of pseudo-intellectual bollocks.

Yeah Russell, we have limited ranges on our senses (there are more than 5 by the way). That's why we invented tools to detect things outside of our perception.

Meanwhile, he prattles on without offering a single useful suggestion.

Russell Brand's Spiritual and Political Awakening

A10anis says...

His tenet is an old one. And, like so many pseudo intellectual thinkers, his "solutions" are wishy washy, glib, and infantile. He offers no practical answers to serious questions. In fact, he appears to be as clueless as the politicians he derides. Oh, and he said all he had to say in the first two minutes, making the remainder of the video somewhat surplus to requirement. Right, I'm off to meditate, which will put me on a level where I can say; "F*ck work, bills, responsibility and commitments........"

Confronting Strangers with Personal Information - Experiment

chingalera says...

Here's one for the sift: Because I sent an email from an address I had used as an alias on this site to my ex-wife's mother trying to track down my ex and children who, in violation of divorce decree, left the state without notifying me....
My ex-mother-in-law (crazy, paranoid academic) lied and said she felt threatened by my inquiry, made some shit up in a police report in King County, Washington and slapped me with a restraining order. For a fucking email, in which I neither threatened them or anyone they knew.

I am arrested for something completely unrelated 5 years later, charged with threatening the lives of policemen (fucking rant about how small their dicks were and their mommy-issues form the back of the cop car) the State of Texas is charging me with felony obstruction, and some intern in the DA's office preparing for the state's case, goes online, finds my alias and LOW AND BEHOLD-The state has in their hands my dossier from Videosift from every time the user had typed ANYTHING derogatory concerning police in general.

Big brother is up your ass and you people without balls and more common sense than myself....ain't got a fucking clue.

Thanks again Lucky, for eliminating those comments on said behalf, even though they have the hard-copy, which, I am told by my atty., would be of no effect either way to peruse
.-Freedom of speech is utter fucking bullshit in the United States of Now-Thanks to all the ineffectual pseudo-intellectual ass-sniffers who thinks republicans or democrats are any sort of concern or problem OR that your participation in their government machine can do anything but enslave you further. Play a losing game and you wake up in chains.

I'm kinna with the Dark Knight Joker at this juncture...Surprise me again with some motherfucking "change", eh??

It's commonplace nowadays for Twitter, Facebook, etc. to also report your geographic location (latitude and longitude) along with the post so you can share with "your friends" where you were when you posted. Of course, you can disable sharing your location and also limit who sees your posts altogether, but it's becoming more and more common, especially for younger people, to be so unconcerned about sharing their posts and physical location with the world.

I assumed godspam from a new user, from the embed's published date on YT, and the cut-and-pasted description from FLOCKTV.

Also, I hate seeing born-again Christians bullied here when they decide to infiltrate the pseudo-hipsterlectual compound here at Videosift.

Sorry Aubrey, no hard feelings, God bless your *return, and may your contributions here be numerous and interesting-

BTW-There are only about 5 folks on this site who give a damn about the rules of embedding. My motivations for banning have more to do with CONTENT
