Spider-Woman's Big Ass Is A Big Deal - Maddox
Truth is today's feminists don't even know what objectification is. Mainstream POP music literally advocates rape. It encourages and teaches millions of young boys how to con a "bitches's" trust, sleep with her under false pretenses and and then break off any future contact.
So pop/rap culture celebrating/teaching boys how to rape women isn't considered by marxist feminists as objectification but some nerd rubbing one out to a softcore hand-drawn picture of a woman is "hardcore sexism". It's no wonder most women don't take feminism seriously.
Britney Spears - Alien (NO AUTOTUNE)
My Initial opinion: Who Cares??????
I mean, isn't this the mainstay of the industry these days?
I'm not saying I prefer this stuff, it can be fun, it has it's place.
In no way is it a replacement for someone with a strong singing voice.
But it's not news, it's OLD NEWS. I'll bet this is the same for 70% or more (made-up statistics) of the Pop music released today.
Britney Spears - Alien (NO AUTOTUNE)
I don't give a single fuck about mainstream music, but, you really can't find fault in the artist at this point.
Just like automation has made many of us lazy in day to day tasks, I'm sure the benefits of digitization have made most of todays 'pop' artists not care too much about their real-life performances.
Not that this has to be said, hopefully, but: Ultimately 'pop' music is a construct of dozens of individuals, neatly produced, prepped and packaged for an audience with the sole intent of profit. Those that buy into it are far more worthy of ridicule than the artists themselves, even if the artists and all those who support them are guilty of dumbing down what most people consider art.
In the end, if you don't like this kind of shit, post, promote and value your favorite live bands. At least that introduces people to new, greater-quality experiences, whereas this won't change anyone's mind about the music. It just makes fans turn away, and those who already knew better feel good about themselves.
This wasn't aimed at the poster. Just humanity in general.
How To Write A Generic Hit Pop Song
I think this is a prime example of why pop music is a lot harder than you might think. It's very simplicity is what makes it so hard to pull off. It's not just marketing and promotion either (though that helps, of course). I could paint a picture that, to me, was indistinguishable from a Pollock or a Rothko, but it wouldn't be great art, and nobody would pay me thousands of dollars for it.
A lot of my professional musician friends who have spent years perfecting their art get real grumpy about the success of pop musicians. They tend to say things like 'I could do that, no problem' and yet they don't, and they certainly would if they really could.
Also, to clarify, I'm not necessarily talking about pop *stars* whose talent tends to be more along the lines of looking cool while singing passably, but the producers and song writers who make the actual music.
Why People REALLY Hate Nickleback
I've seen a fair share of crap make it to top spot, here on the Sift, so don't get all elitist about the maturity level in here. Bewbs, cats, and Louis CK all have a dubious percentage of votes in here.
...but honestly, as with most "internet communities" I'm here for the people. Places like Reddit and Youtube itself are just too full of vitriol and verbal diarrhea for my liking. Far too many saying far too little.
My dislike of this person's video has more to do with it's judgmental nature. I really dislike people who put down others over something so esoteric and subjective as music taste. The "Pop" in pop music is short for "Popular". Hating on something for no other real reason than a lot of people like it is douchebaggery at it's most stereotypical extreme.
There's only one Nickelback song I like, so I'm not a fanboi. I have to say though, the fact they are still selling records and and concert tickets kinda proves this guy wrong. They have "struck a chord" with quite a few people. Otherwise, they would have been a one-hit-wonder like the chick down the street from them, Carly Rae Jepsen.
Music doesn't have to be well written, or well performed to be popular, people just have to like it.
You visit Videosift (theoretically) because it sifts through the bullshit videos on the internet and gives you videos of merit. How is the aversion to heavily marketed BS such a seemingly unfamiliar concept to you?
Daughter - Every Saturday For 3 Months
The indoctrination of pop music is strong in this one.
Ylvis - Work it [Official music video HD]
I hate pop music with a passion, so i love these guys
Why Country Music Was Awful in 2013
The actual problem is that we CALL this country music. This is twangy, crappy pop music. Johnny sang country, this is Brittany Spears with a steel guitar thrown in.
Uhh, Johnny Cash would knock you out for suggesting such a thing-Country music has devolved from quaint cliche to flavor-of-the-weak artless poop maybe??
Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You(Chatroulette)
hey, it's that guy with the obsession of cross dressing to shitty pop music again.
What Does the Fox Say
Exactly.
It's a rather clever deconstruction of contemporary pop music trends.
In my opinion they outdid most of Lonely Island's efforts; skewered the industry without needing profanity or sex jokes.*
* i like profanity and sex jokes
It sounds just like every nameless, soulless piece of shit song out there, which is kinda the point, I guess.
Miley Cyrus & Dwarves
I still use "kraut" like old WW2 vets do as an homage to simpler times....I take this license according to my own justifications based on my personal heritage of Euromutt. Plus, using recognizable stereotypes well,....that's comedy 101
Thanks for the lesson on Sclagen (which the g-translator interprets as "beat" or "strike" while schlag is defined as "shock." So why was that crappy pop music that Germans were cranking-out in the 60's called, Schlagen? Was it meant to refer to 'hits or beats' or 'shocking hits?'
"Schlag den Raab" is actually a gameshow where one candidate has to beat the moderator (Raab) in a series of games.
Btw, the german (don't say Kraut, you Yank! ) version of top of the pops was called top of the pops.
One Take Song Mash-Up by the Highland Trouveres
*quality shit. One take is amazing... period. This video will have its detractors because of the pop music choice, but we as sifters should be able to look beyond the sound and upvote in appreciation of the effort it took to make this. Awesome awesome awesome.
Russian Gas Truck Explodes In An Accident
I love how many of these Russian drivers listen to the same crap pop music the rest of the world does.
new zealand has some great music-lorde-royals
Eh... only pop music can simultaneously reject narcissism while being about narcissism.
A Pop Culture Nostalgia Trip to the Year 1986
Uhhhh, Party All The Time-Eddie Murphy? "How bad could music be" should have been the motto that year....For all the fans here of some of the cheesiest music ever released, 86' was one of the weakest and whitest for pop music-The UK dished-out some real cheese that year as well-
I recall spinning only ONE pop LP that year over and over, Better to Travel-Swing Out Sister, the only new talent worth the mustard, engineered and recorded wonderfully, with a sound that stood out as original without rehash.....The mid eighties were a goat turd for good music.
I mean come ON!? Graceland?? Lionel Ritchie?! Mr. Mister??!
I remember losing all faith in rock and or roll that year and listening to mostly trad jazz and heavy metal for the next 4 years. Pop music hit an all-time low in 1986.
