It's OVER For San Francisco

newtboy says...

Market Street/downtown has been a declining shithole for decades. Other parts of the city are thriving. It’s not one of the most expensive cities in America because of the weather.

Yes, petty theft is a problem, but incarceration didn’t solve it, it just cost the state hundreds of millions to house shoplifters. I don’t have the solution, but clearly effectively decriminalizing theft isn’t it.

Looked at the source’s videos, apparently according to him every city in America is failing rapidly and will be a wasteland by 2024….but then he said America’s economy was over, total collapse imminent 9 months ago….and the auto industry was collapsing, tech sector collapsing, Turkey collapsing, Chicago collapsing, New York collapsing, California collapsing, China collapsing, global shipping collapsing, stock market collapsing.
This guy is ridiculously pessimistic even by my standards….and tends to ignore most of the facts. Booooo.

A Trip Down Market Street Before the Fire Prelinger 4K to 2K scan from best existing film material

This scan of the legendary pre-earthquake film was made from the best existing material at 4K (4096 x 3072) resolution and transcoded to 2K (2048 x 1536) for YouTube. It was scanned by Adrianne Finelli at Internet Archive on October 11, 2018 using a Lasergraphics ScanStation scanner at 5120 x 3840 and scanned to 16 frames per second. Due to the limitations of Final Cut Pro, every second frame is doubled for a playback rate of 24 frames per second, so the running time remains the same. The part of the image that lies between the film preparations is exhibited here for the first time.

Anyone may reproduce or reuse this scan. Please attribute it to its source: Prelinger Archives.

Walgreens Pharmacist Fired For Firing at Armed Robbers

shagen454 says...

Oooo, I have a fantastic Walgreen's story. My friend was in Walgreen's getting some prescription medicine when an african-american woman was detained by Walgreen's staff for theft. She was yelling & making a scene & the employees handcuffed her to a pole.

My friend FLIPPED out on the Walgreen's staff surrounding the woman they were holding captive - I forget what he said since I wasn't there - I'm pretty sure he was telling them to let her go, they have no right. He probably went on a Zizek-esque political rant.

Anyway, a couple of days later was the World Series, in which we won. The streets became a riot, people were burning buses, people were running over crowds of people in their cars, it was crazy. My friend happened to be witnessing the mayhem unfold down Market Street. He was passing by that Walgreen's with the entire affair still burning him up on the inside - when he noticed one of the people that had taken part in this incident standing by the entrance to the Walgreens also watching the mayhem unfold. He walked up to the guy, "Hey, remember me, motherfucker?" And then proceeded to SHOVE HIS WHOLE HAND DOWN THE GUY'S THROAT. Haha! Bizarre. This is only one of the reasons employees at large corporations should just let 'em go & let security deal with these issues.

Patriot Guard protects against Westboro Freaks

choggie says...

Again, enough already. Giving the freaks an audience-Why not simply pay the man at the State Fair midway, and see alll the freaks!
"Funny how a group of people committing hateful acts can bring the rest of us together!"

Funny how instead of dealing with our own dysfunction, we gravitate towards others', and point, gawk, deride, and condemn.

Had some zealots set up across the street opposite my building while living in San Francisco-Market street: Saturday morning @ 8am....because the city said they could....They started in to playing instruments poorly and loudly, preaching through a crappy P.A., and otherwise fucking up a peaceful a.m. coffee session.
Did choggie call attention to them??? No. He marched up to the roof with determination and water balloons, and soon the bible thumping amateurs, packed up and left.....They were not preaching the dangers of homosexuality as it relates to the afterlife, they were fucking with an otherwise chill morning in San Fran.i.e. bothering choggie!!
Did he point out their errors, or attempt to incite a mob to agree that they were dicks??? No. Nuked em' quite well with death from above.
Point being, these viddies that divert attention by turning a camera on throwbacks, so the civil world at large can gawk....are tiresome and fucking offensive!!
Fuck westboro, could care less they hate fags!
