2012: The Year The Internet Ends

11714 says...

These are very intelligent people. They used a boobshot for their thumbnail to get us all to watch. and watch we did.

Anyways we should all be scared shitless about this. If the internet goes down w/o a fight it will be a tragedy of un-imaginably large scale. The little people, the small groups, the personal niches of the internet will be steamrolled by money grabbing cash cow companies such as... COMCAST and others. It's comparable to the Berlin wall being rebuilt. Lets fight shall we?

Liz Trotta is SO sorry for talking about knocking off Obama

kulpims says...

>> ^MINK:

isn't there something wrong about diverting the outcry against her by making a retarded thoughtless comment? doesn't that kinda demean your opposition?

still, doesn't make her right, doesn't mean our anger over her thoughtless words isn't justified. i'm tired of people like her getting away with such bullshit and every time we get accross shit like that, we should get angry, we should go primitive. Richard K. Morgan, or rather Quellcrist Falconer, said it so much better than i possibly could:

The personal, as everyone's so fucking fond of saying, is political. So if some idiot politician, some power player, tries to execute policies that harm you or those you care about, TAKE IT PERSONALLY. Get angry. The Machinery of Justice will not serve you here – it is slow and cold, and it is theirs, hardware and soft-. Only the little people suffer at the hands of Justice; the creatures of power slide from under it with a wink and a grin. If you want justice, you will have to claw it from them. Make it PERSONAL. Do as much damage as you can. GET YOUR MESSAGE ACROSS. That way, you stand a better chance of being taken seriously next time. Of being considered dangerous. And make no mistake about this: being taken seriously, being considered dangerous makes the difference, the ONLY difference in their eyes, between players and little people. Players they will make deals with. Little people they liquidate. And time and again they cream your liquidation, your displacement, your torture and brutal execution with the ultimate insult that it's just business, it's politics, it's the way of the world, it's a tough life and that IT'S NOTHING PERSONAL. Well, fuck them. Make it personal.

and we are back to my first comment... moral high ground lost... opposition to this woman weakened... now you try to tell me i am the one who should hold my tongue...

Obama supporter does his homework, impresses interviewer

Goofball_Jones says...

The interviewer was an ass...you could see in the beginning he already had a pre-conceived notion that people don't know the issues or do their homework...so he was constantly trying to drive that home with his condescending tone.

And yes honkeytonk73...he must be one of the "few" well informed voters...because NO one would be as informed as you...you're above the masses and the "little people" right?

Red Dwarf - The Rimmer Song

Zifnab grabs the top spot. (Sift Talk Post)

Zifnab says...

First, I'd like to thank all the little people. Without your votes I wouldn't be here . Seriously though, many thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. Now do I use choggie's brown nose for my avatar? hmmm

mlx has been number 1 since I got here and I didn't think anyone, let alone me, would be able to catch up to her. I can't say enough good things about mlx, she has been a great help to me ever since I got here.

Sifty was a little slow on the uptick but eventually decided to let me have number 1 for now. Now comes the tough part, I have to try to hold on!

Really, I'm just happy to be a part of the sift community. This is most definitely a special place on the interwebs and I hope to see it continue to grow and prosper.

I can't not give Eric some *quality

plastiquemonkey puts us on the map in Hong Kong (Sift Talk Post)

lucky760 says...

That is just awesome, seeing VideoSift mentioned like that, but even moreso that a fellow Sifter is becoming so internationally known. Congrats and thanks for remembering the little people!

>>Why is there so much English on the magazine? Are there that many people who can read the language?

It is a magazine of Hong Kong who, until a couple of years ago, was "owned" and operated by the British for 100+ years, so there is a lot of English used there.

KILLDOZER! Man takes armored bulldozer on rampage in town

rougy says...

I don't know much about this, but it's pretty easy to see instances of big money walking over little people all over this country. Like the pig farm in Las Animas, Colorado, that destroyed the well water for many people nearby, or the fertilizer dumps of big dairy farms in agricultural areas that are invariably built next to small farms. Or places like Rocky Flats, in Colorado, that just wanted to bury the nuclear waste and forget about it.

Big money in America has a nasty habit of making a big mess, moving away, and letting the taxpayers clean up the mess.

It's called "Free Market Capitalism."

Amateur Video shot on September 11th [raw footage]

Enzo, I'm a licensed architect, I think I know just a few things about building systems. And it's nothing like shooting an arrow into a tree, buildings have HUGE empty spaces inside to shelter tiny little people and post-it notes. A tree is a tight web of fibers that an arrow couldn't penetrate, and arrows don't slam into trees at 500+ miles an hour. If they did I would guarantee that it would be in pretty deep.

Edit: you seriously think that all the tons of concrete and steel in a building are focused at whatever area the plane hit at?

A few of Scientology's smear tactics

codenazi says...

sigh... why doesn't all this idiocy get smacked down by libel/slander laws? Theoretically smearing someone like this is not legal. Of course, TRW/Choicepoint/Equifax/etc get away with saying false things about people every day, so I guess libel laws only count if you're going after the "little people".

/still pissed the CoS took down anon.penet.fi back in '95.

Best COPS arrest ever

BBC reported WTC7 Collapse while it was still standing!!

Farhad2000 says...

Rickegee, I would want to agree with you on the point that invading Iraq has certain humanitarian issues that are favorable. And in someways thats the way I resigned it once the war began and I witnessed it in Kuwait.

But realistically if the freedom and democracy in Iraq really was an agenda for the American or Western governments it would have been done in 1991. When there was populist support for the removal of Saddam Hussein, a rebellion in the south and north of the country post the 100 days. However coalition forces let Saddam use attack helicopters to crush these domestic movements for democracy.

So what happened is the international community just forgot about Iraq, US forces occasionally bombed them, the UN sanctions did alot of damage to the civilians, back room dealing allowed the regime to survive. Saddam Hussein became more entrenched in his position because he was the sole provider of anything under sanctions and no fly zones. The civilian population saw the chance of liberation stop and pull back.

History is not the actions of men in power, but what that power means to the little people who have none, to the civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the soldiers who enlist because they have little choice and come from far flung places like Little Rock and Colorado Springs and a million other places we never really hear of.

I hope for one thing that History gives this time it's full needed coverage for it is something I never want to see happen ever again. What I hate most is how cynical I have become about the human race given all this, because quite frankly it shows how far reaching certain people's ability is to fool the most powerful nation in the world into basically falling on it's own sword.

Malcolm X - What America should learn from Islam

Farhad2000 says...

Everything I could have said was said in much better ways by Gwaan. Great comment.

I was born and raised and Muslim. And it never ceases to shock me how little people in the West know about Islam.

Frasera I think it's better to look at the American Muslim Association website, which is lead by a woman. How is that sexist then?

And all religions are homophobic and sexist. I mean Christianity is homophobic and sexist. The entire religion was built to be patriarchal. Yet that is not a fair analysis of it right? What about the Crusades? And so on and so on.
