Oreos have always been my favorite cookie. Did you know that they've been the best selling cookie in the US since they were first introduced in 1912? Everyone has different tastes but my preference is a sandwich cookie. They're fun to eat. Lift up the top wafer and lick the creamy middle, or dunk them in a glass of milk. I don't find them bland at all, if anything too sweet. What do you mean by dry? Because the wafer part is crunchy? Crunching on them is part of their appeal.

a massive surveillance operation.
militarized police forces across the country.
civil liberties made into mere "suggestions" and no longer inalienable.
executions of american citizens with no due process (bye bye habeas corpus).
a standing army that has been in place for over 60 years and a war on terror that will never end.

it is madness.

so i cannot blame my libertarian friends for calling for smaller government.
because the government has become TOO big and no longer is "for the people,by the people".
it serves its corporate masters.
which is why the "de-regulate" argument truly baffles me.

just as my liberal friends who wish to use the system to correct these imbalances.

libertarianism has some very good points while others are a bit...naive in my opinion.

for me the end result is this:
i do not trust power nor authority because i find them to be illegitimate until they prove themselves otherwise.
so i am suspicious when someone tries to force their authority on me based on arbitrary and subjective parameters.(like a cop,or judge or some rich dude).

i am a humanist by nature so my political philosophy flows from that birthplace.
i will never step on you to further my career nor take food out of your mouth.
corporate america has spread a propaganda campaign that is insidious.

Reminds me of my friend's cat, who also has an oral fixation. Nothing to do with ice cream, but if you let him start licking you, he just won't stop -- ever.

Love that. My favorite with my oldest son (so far) is lemon.

I could only get him to lick it once, but it was hilariously cute. (And now he loves when I lick one and get sour-faced.)

Our Shepard was very protective of my mom, and it didn't take beating her to discover that. Well, fake beating maybe. People horse around but animals don't always understand that.

My friends have a dog who hates it when he sees two people hugging and will very rudely interrupt you. The same dog will also "protect" his human when we pretend to beat her up. But in his case, I assume he understands we're playing around because as soon as we stop "hitting" her, he goes back to licking, wagging, and overall drooling he does oh so well. My Shepard, well, let's just say I know from personal experience that she could tell the difference.

I've grown up with protective animals, aka, Shepards, all my life. I expect this from my dog, but from a cat, well, that's a cuteness +1 achievement.

If you think being scared is the best reason to give up your rights to privacy and freedom from search and seizure, you don't understand the USA and perhaps should move to one of those other countries that agree with you, there are many.

You don’t have a right to freedom from search and seizure. You have a right to freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. Living in a free country gives you the right to be as ignorant as you wish about the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, but demonstrating that ignorance in a public forum such as this should be embarrassing.

Now, we appear to have a comprehension problem...I said I disagree with those claiming this was some conspiracy or even a compliance test. I did not say, and have not heard anyone else say (besides the suspects father) that this was perpetrated by the government, that's a pretty big jump there. The implication is that the police are using the fear violate people's rights thinking they'll be either be justified in their actions or at least get away with them.

You said it and then only denied you were one who said it. You went on to truss up the notion of “compliance test”, and imply your agreement of it, with “difficult to argue against that idea”, and then revealed your conspiracy nuttery with “so they don't want to (or can't afford) to do this again”. The next paragraph’s lame appeal to patriotism and nationalist dogma betrays an authoritarian worldview. You don’t have a reading comprehension problem. You have a reality comprehension problem.

Unlike you, I understand what the Fourth Amendment says, but I'm pretty sure I also understand what you and your ilk wish it would say. Again, you appear to suggest that the police may enter your home to search for dangerous criminals at any time they choose in the name of safety because they are dangerous criminals and MAY be in your home, they are certainly in the area.
