This looks nuts. A horror film i may actually watch.

I can imagine this in a horror film. Someone walking down a dark alley. They hear a buzz and turn their head. Nothing. Continue walking, another buzz, this time closer. They look up. Nothing. Turn the corner and and this flying lawnmower comes down the street at 30MPH flipping around like a mechanized butterfly knife!!

I'm not sure I understand why anybody would defend the girls in this video, they were all vapid and clueless. He was making pretty clear advances and instead of simply being straight with him they just acted like nothing was going on. Of course there's an escape, it's called the door, but in true horror film fashion everyday logic is never applied.

Now if this was a proper horror film then everyone who got a piece of Coleman would have transformed into an asshole.

Evening doll! Having studied film and being in the biz for as long as I have, I have become pretty jaded, and was convinced that I have seen it all. There just doesn't seem like there is any original thought left, Hollywood appears to have given up, and watching endless "student films" kinda proved that assumption.

However, every now and then a short comes along that renders me speechless, snatches the breath from my lungs, and makes me stare in wonderment at the screen. Watching a Horror Film as a Young Boy is one, and I keep finding my mind drifting back to it, playing it over and over in my head.

This is why I dig the Sift so much, and really feel connected to it and some of the amazing people here. This does more for my soul than any meeting or therapy session ever could.

No, I don't think there's a single jump scare in the film -- it's unnerving and tense in a way that so few horror films manage to achieve, but never in a cheap "I know something is going to pop up and say boo" type of way. It's legit.

Looking forward to Follow It. I love the soundtrack by Disasterpeace. He did the soundtrack for the game Fez. Love that lowfi shit. And I love me some creepy ass horror with chilling moments made possible by a nerve wracking pace. You're right that It Follows... follows you into your dreams. Like Freddy.

But... I'm not sure it was my favorite film, nor my favorite horror film of 2015. I really enjoyed the horror comedy Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse -- it had zombie boobies, zombie kitten paws under doorways; the entire theater exploded in various combinations of delight and disgust on multiple occasions, like monstrous audience-gasms. And it had a gorefest ending with scout crafted zombie killing machines reminiscent of the lawnmower scene in Peter Jackson's Braindead.

It is also my opinion that it was a more effective comedy than Kingsman. Scout's Guide had the audience roaring, which is such a great moment to experience in a theater. Laughter and screams? Top theater experience of the year. Better reactions than Star Wars even.

I don't know what I think about David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) or Chrisopher Landon (Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) as directors. Each have created a single horror gem reminiscent of 1970/80s horror but for different reasons. I hope they keep making movies like these.

V/H/S, The Last Broadcast, The Blair Witch Project (not the sequel dear GOD), It Follows (soon to have a sequel "Follow It"), The Babadook, and anything spawned from Koji Suzuki's Ring Trilogy -- I bet you didn't know there were THAT many Ring movies, did you? 3 American films (one is a short film), 7 Japanese films, 1 Korean film, 2 Japanese television series, and 1 more American film on the way, executive produced by Guillermo del Toro.

I don't know about this... It looks like a wait and see. Some of those scenes look like they are trying too hard...like WAY too hard; essentially they are trying to scare us using all of the extremely stupid ideas that have been used in all horror films since 2000...

Poltergeist was inventive, and awesome. Not only was it NOT a rated R film, but it STILL imposed a sense of dread that you don't get from many horror movies--because they all rely on two things: the "gotcha" scenes where something unexpected happens too fast for your senses to comprehend...thus it creates fear; and second, make something normal look absolutely not normal (the little girl in the closet for an example).

I hope they can pull it off, but it looks to me like they failed to grasp the reason WHY the first film did do so well. The beginning of the show was hard to even tell it WAS a horror film, and when things start to happen, the family was more in awe and ready to experiment with it...at first (and other signs were passed off as natural phenomena).

This looks like it is straight up: horror. I really hope that is not the case. Poltergeist spent a long time to setup it's scary moments, many of it's most scary moments are actually psychological--because you can see them coming, they never jump out at you (except when things go crazy at the very end). I hope they realize this at least...but as I said, it sure looks like they didn't.

BTW, anyone with the info on it, who is writing it, producing it, and directing it? Otherwise I'll go look it up (and see how bad it is; it already said it was from the producers of Evil Dead...like that is something to be proud of...it wasn't a good remake...).
