Irish are the niggers of Europe? Reginald D Hunter

JSing and Chaos made the two small leaps here that points to the interpreter as the responsible party to context. Meaning can be elusive to folks who have problems with critical thinking and with regard to 'racism' (the definition and intensity of this label range from arbitrary to anally-exacting considering the range of interpretation) there is no clear, consensual handbook...In the 00's, the word 'nigger' being so flagrantly abused and praised as it has become a filler-word in hip-hop and rap culture as well as a safe-haven for haters who love to toss the convenient label 'racist' around like skee-ball tickets, when they simply refuse to fucking think, or dislike someone, or are simply cunts, etc.

True racism exists but not on the scale imagined by the weak-minded and overly sensitive who both recoil from the very notion of certain words even existing (wouldn't the world be such a wonderful place if the word nigger did not exist and the world could all hold hands and blow soap bubbles and kiss puppy dogs?? Pretentious, American, WHITE PEOPLE have so abused both the concept and history of racism that the waters of it's essence have become murky. Chumps use the label 'racism' as if it were ranch dressing to refer to all manner of perceived evils of the world when their little cruise-liner of self-delusion drifts ever-so-slightly off course.

Man or Astroman? carved-out and rode the punk-surf-space-schtick for years and is still goin' strong-The future of rock and roll will be carved-out in garages and basements once again, this next wave fleshed and transcribed from small home-studios through YT, ITunes-hits, and WOM.
Radio is dead, rap/hip-hop is as deflated and over-cooked in an oven of unwatched souffles, and pop and country???.....Complete shit without a soul. Time for another fat wave of rebellion and focused anger at establishment in music.

I think I'm seeing a trend over the last few years...new bands attempting to redefine what a band does, with lo-tech FX and trippy/space/cheesy videos. Shaka Ponk comes to mind, although they're a bit higher energy (and quality?) than this bunch.

Nice to see that UK hip-hop has caught up with the US in terms of narcissism.
When rap finally has something artistic and existential to contribute, the audience that would listen will not be due to overexposure, and the audience that usually does will reject it for not being the norm.
That's just my cynicism though.

Teens React to....Nirvana

ChaosEngine says...

I really wasn't a fan of Nirvana when they came out. I was heavily into metal (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Sepultura, Slayer, etc) and Nirvana just sounded like a boring watered down version to me.

It wasn't until much later that I realised I was looking at it from the wrong direction. Nirvana were a pop band who used heavy guitars, and that was kinda cool.

I don't believe we will ever see another band with their influence again. Mainstream music today is much more fragmented, so even if someone came along and radically altered hip-hop, for example, the influence would be felt far less in other genres.

SPEAK ENGLISH OR DIE

Yellow Machinegun anyone? They don't always wear the school girl thing, but the first album I owned of theirs featured them wearing schoolgirl outfits and SCREAMING!

This ain't new or news. Lamer, poppier version of something that's been around for more than 20 years.

My wife works in fashion, designs for Urban Outfitters, PacSun, Roxy, Quicksilver, etc. etc. Your girlfriend or wife probably owns either a handbag or an article of clothing designed by her. The styles and trends that are in take us all the way back to Cramps/Misfits/Rocky Horror fashion sense, amalgamated with '90s nihilism and modern pop (often hip hop, but in the case here, J Pop) trends.

Nothing new is happening and that makes it SOOOOOO much easier to anticipate the trends and succeed in making people think something "new" is on the horizon. lol

I can't remember what it is called, those "hand dances" that hip hop artists do. It's driving me crazy. Anyway, whatever it is, this is definitely the lyric version of it. Something new!

I enjoyed that. Thanks for remembering me when it comes to dance. You know my loves!
