Donna Brazile: HRC controlled DNC and rigged the primary
There is still some debate on the authenticity of this.
I read an article last night by a lawyer (uninvolved with the DNC) who openly questioned whether Donna Brazile was looking at the 2015 or the 2016 JFA. The reason she was asking, was that the 2016 JFA, of course, contains nothing but mentions of HRC because she was at that time the nominee, which is to be expected.
I don't know the answer to any of these questions, but it was a fascinating article. I spent about 5 minutes trying to find it right now, but I read it last night at home on my iPad, so I don't have the history handy to find the article again easily.
Subliminal Messages in 60's TV National Anthem
I can't say I'm surprised. I think "They Live" memory's fed my bias. Here is a fascinating article about this topic, Should I kill the video? Or add fake?

And the solo damn near brings me to tears everytime I hear it. Such an amazing piece of playing... as he says, it's not super technical, but the feel Gilmour puts into every bend.... it's magic.
Also, it's insanely cool that you can play it in harmony with itself.

Comey Testifies Under Oath That Trump Lied Repeatedly
Fascinating. I can't help but feel a bit sad for the man. But there are some aspects of his testimony that leave me scratching my head:
"[T]he administration then chose to defame me and more importantly the FBI by saying that the organization was in disarray, that it was poorly led, that the workforce had lost confidence in its leader. Those were lies, plain and simple."
http://www.politico.com/story/2017/06/08/full-text-james-comey-trump-russia-testimony-239295
"Yet there is a growing consensus that Comey has wielded the powers of the directorship more aggressively than anyone since Hoover—to the consternation, and even anger, of some of his colleagues."
http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/09/james-comey-fbi-accountability-214234
"Mr. Comey got so many calls from former agents and others after he decided this summer not to pursue charges that he had to change his phone number posted online. And at a recent meeting with retired agents, he was still fielding tough questions about the decision."
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/29/us/politics/fbi-clinton-emails-james-comey.html
I think it's fair to say that Comey helped to create a "turbulent" atmosphere at the FBI during the past year, one probably not matched since the firing of William Sessions in 1993.
I wish someone had thought to ask him what he'd imagine the results of the "hopes, loyalty and leaks" would have been if he hadn't been fired.
Vox: Why underdogs do better in hockey than basketball.
The content of the video wasn't bad, but the tagline / title they chose gives a very faulty perception, I think.
I guess "how accurately can the skill of players on a team relative to players on competing teams predict their aggregate regular season success in various sports" doesn't roll off the tongue quite so easily.
I love hockey largely because a great team can be good at everything OR specialize in being offensively skilled / big and mean / fast and opportunistic / defensive system minded / whatever. Take a team loaded with extremely skilled superstars and put them up against a team of low-skill bruisers that play tough but legal and work well as a unit, and the pure skill team can easily lose. Makes for fascinating interplay between philosophies / rosters / coaching schemes.

Must Love Bugs
I was going to major and work in entomology when I was younger since I love living bugs like ants. I even hung out with a few local entomologists like Robert H. Crandoll (RIP since he passed away in 2006). He had a cool insect collection (dead and alive) in his house.
However, computer science took over since I love computers especially their digital bugs. I don't like the chemical odor/smell, traveling, low pay, etc. However, I am still fascinated with nature today as an old fart.
