That was awful, games like this just don't fit in the "coca cola" marketing world.. Firefly universe is dirty and gritty with a good sense of humor, not far from post-apocalyptic genre. It certainly is not Farmville or Sims, where this ad would fit perfectly.. If it wasn't Firefly, this ad would cause zero interest from my part and it makes me think that the game is utter crap.

Total fail. Hope the game is good (their website is down atm and it seems the publisher is not even remotely prepared for release yet, apart from some beer mugs etc merc)

Here's the deal- This place can get fun when someone gets a wild hair and starts promoting stuff, handing out qualities, etc. It's similar to Farmville except it's not fucking gay, AND, it awards effort and emotion, creativity and intent, with something rather than some totey fake tree or goat.....Sentiment. This prize may be regarded as an incalculable spiritual link to us all.

My guess is that the Mists of Pandaria is likely a mobile app or Facebook/Google + type app rather than a proper WoW expansion. Either way I am sure BlizzCon will answer that.

I take casual to be like Farmvile, others say WoW itself is casual so who knows what they meant by Titan being casual. I HATE facebook, and hate lazy marketing people who use facebook because they can't be bothered to actually build their own site too.

Sigh. That was hard to watch. Id actually watch that episode of Dr. Phil just to see what she had to say.

The sad fact is that she is not the worst possible parent she can be.

She's not selling her son as a prostitute to pedophiles.
She's not feeding him hallucinogens or depressants just to see what would happen.
She's not letting him starve to death while she plays FarmVille.
She's not throwing him through a wall (as someone else alluded to previously).
She's not doing any of a gajillion things that would make her a worse parent than what she displayed in this clip.

Is she a good parent? Not by any means.
While a cold shower might be an appropriate way of getting the attention of a stubborn child, having them hold hot sauce in their mouth for a full minute is not. That's abusive.


The goal of disciplining a child is twofold:
1 - To reinforce that there are consequences for a child's actions.
2 - To get the child to consider their actions and why they were wrong.

One offense was fighting over pencils. Does the hot sauce punishment accomplish #2? How about the cold shower?
I think we can agree that they accomplished #1, since the boy knew that was coming.

Another offense was the lie he told.
Now, one could argue that the hot sauce is a suitable punishment for the lie. It's twisted logic, as the burning feeling in his mouth is the consequence for using the same mouth to tell lies. I still don't find it appropriate, but I can at least understand the logic.

Bad parent? In my opinion, yes.
Worst parent ever? Not even close.

Downvote for the scammy link embedded in the video, for the melodrama of the entire situation, and for the sincere claim that the game is some kind of synthetic, life wrecking drug. Seriously, if some old senator were making that claim on the floor of congress you'd all be raising hell about how alarmist it was.

WoW is actually pretty good as far as discouraging endless grinding. It also makes sure that you can never benefit in game from paying money. If you want to talk about a sleazy game, think about Farmville, where every game play mechanic is designed to get at your wallet as frequently as possible.

I've not yet checked out any previews for Civ5 (I know I know, an affront to fellow strategy gamers and my early years playing Civ1), but I'm definitely looking forward to it, and SC2 hype is a given (it's currently slated for July, btw). Having said that, screw WOW and screw the Harry Potter movie. While both are appealing to the masses, I'd hardly call them quality products in their genres (I'd say that WOW is polished and generating an assload of revenue for Bobby fucking Kotick, sure, but like many MMORPGs it operates on an immoral foundation (grinding) not unlike that of Farmville, therefore I can't condone it).

Now entertainment-wise, I'm hyped for to Episode 3 of HL2, which just *might* be coming out this holiday season, Crysis 2, and Aliens: Colonial Marines. As far as movies currently set for a fall release go, I'm looking forward to Red and Tron Legacy.

They need to stop holding on to the Flash does video thing, it is absolutely NOT critical to internet video, not in the slightest. When it becomes easier and standard to serve up videos in multiple formats, Flash for video will be entirely irrelevant.

They should focus their energy on games, since you know, upwards of 82million FarmVille users and who knows how many else playing other crap, will care.
