I think the noise is a very important factor in the enjoyment of drag racing. I'm not missing the point here, I'm just saying I hope when we progress to a world where we all drive electric cars we keep some ol' school gas guzzlers around for our entertainment.

This looks so much better than the clodz drag racing each other on our main strip.

I'd forgotten about the AWD. Really, that just skews the advantage more towards the Honda in highway racing vs. drag racing. In drag racing, AWD cars are splitting their power through all four wheels, so its easier to get a solid launch, since all that power is going through four tires instead of two, and you don't just sit there spinning tires. Once underway, though, AWD has a higher parasitic drag than FWD or RWD. If that FWD Honda and that AWD Lambo both had 500bhp engines, the Honda would actually be putting more power down to the ground. FWD has a drivetrain loss of around 15%, and AWD has a loss of around 25%, so the Lambo could be outgunned, the the Honda STILL has lighter weight. So in short, while unlikely, it could happen.

I had no idea that drag racing tires reacted like that...would any tire when accelerating so quickly do that?
