Sarah Palin vs. Family Guy.

Shepppard says...

"The voice actor who portrayed Palin's daughter, Andrea Fay Friedman, who also has Down Syndrome, responded by saying, "In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes"

Penn Says: Agnostic vs. Atheist

dgandhi says...

>> ^bmacs27: Let me sober up, and I'll get back to you. I know the gist of my argument will be something like, why should I assume a maximum entropy bound for conscious experience?

Because it requires both information recall and comparison, processes which require energy. Additionally it is only observable in situations where information processing is known to be taking place, and we have no reason to believe that internal narrative is anything but a special case of thinking.

Are individuals with downs' syndrome conscious? How about amoebas that can solve mazes?

Since I'm willing to consider that an engine with a power switch is probably at the bottom of the scale, the human clearly qualifies.

The "amoeba", which is actually a slime mold, does not, because it is responding only to the supply and transport of food, its "maze solving" is a probabilistic event, not an action.

Ants use a similar system to find paths to food, but they use a chemical marker system as a collective memory, here they leverage the same probabilistic event, shorter paths have higher throughput for energy used, but keep track of it in a manner distinct from the source of food itself. Their path finding system is "intelligent" in a way the ants individually are not, but I am not willing to arbitrarily imbue the chemtrail or the probabilistic event with any sort of special quality as a result.

Bmacs27: I'll get back to you when I'm not as drunk as now, but for now I recommend Daniel Dennett's book Consciousness Explained.

It's sitting on the bookshelf in the conference room my journal club meets in. It caught my eye a couple times. I'll pick it up.

@ ghandi...

I'm going to plead the gwizz here. Let me sober up, and I'll get back to you. I know the gist of my argument will be something like, why should I assume a maximum entropy bound for conscious experience? Are individuals with downs' syndrome conscious? How about amoebas that can solve mazes?[citation]

Maddow: Healthcare Bill Intmidation Taking Dangerous Turn

NetRunner says...

That's actually what the left's organizations are putting out, that it's absolutely critical that we not match shouting with shouting, and fight the incivility with civility.

Like I said elsewhere, I think the right move is to just observe and report, and drive the narrative to be about the deceptiveness and crude anti-democratic nature of what's being done.

However, I do think it's worth noting that the right inciting angry mobs to intimidate our politicians and supporters in the hope of shutting down rational conversation crosses an important line between peaceful, rowdy political activism and thuggery and intimidation.

I can't imagine anyone who said anything like this or this would retain any kind of position of authority or respect in the progressive movement.

Fox News is already talking up this incident as if it's an example of Union "thugs" trying to beat down righteous protesters.

Why the hell can't we just have a public debate on the merits of the issue? I hunger for a real, reasonable debate, but it doesn't seem like the other side wants to engage on the merits, just with lies, fear, and now outright intimidation.

Blankfist roasting on an open fire (Parody Talk Post)

thinker247 says...

Even though Blankfist is not supposed to be within 500 feet of anywhere children congregate, he still manages. 501 feet, binoculars and a trail of candy corn sure does wonders for his social life.

Blankfist doesn't rape children for the sexual thrill, but rather for the pleasure of knowing that somewhere a mother is crying, desperate to find her missing Down Syndrome daughter. And because he likes the sound the kids make when they're gurgling salt water.

I heard they were roasting Blankfist and I thought, "Was he caught in Alabama again? How many volts go through the chair?" But then I thought, "Dear god, what does burnt a$$ grav33 smell like?" I'm sure his victims know.

Anyway, back to the pedophile jokes.

Blankfist fucks children, he does it with style.
He covers their mouths with sperm and bile.
Blankfist fucks children, he does it with class.
He fucks little children, from mouth to ass.
Blankfist skews gender, to fit his disease
He fucks boys and girls, and gets off to their pleas.
Blankfist fucks children, of that there is no question,
Except, "Who's next that he'll be molestin'?"

--
Blankfist's girlfriend is an elaborate ruse. In fact, she is actually made of three children stapled together. When her dress falls at night, six arms, three mouths and two-and-a-half vaginas are ready for his every sick desire.

Blankfist dug up the corpse of Stanley Kubrick and buried it in an Indian cemetery in order to bring it bac kto life to give him the secrets of pedophilia. Unfortunately, Blankfist forgot that it was actually Roman Polanski who held those secrets, and he only needed a plane ticket to France.

When Blankfist wants to feel dirty, he fucks an adult woman missionary style, and lets her live. Afterward he cuts himself and fucks a baby just to feel normal again.

Speaking of fucking kids, gwiz is here. Probably under the bed in your child's room. When they complain about monsters, make sure to actually check. But be careful, he bites. And he's covered in lube.

Back to the pedo-du-jour:

Blankfist has no life, so he steals it from children through their genitals. At least that's what he tells me when I'm selling him some Kenyan babies.

Blankfist makes Chris Hansen shudder, then wash himself and set his clothing on fire. oddly enough, that's the reaction most people have when they meet BF.

Blankfist puts his L-shaped penis into little children without their consent. Then he takes a dump and wipes it on their genitals in order to enhance his pleasure. Afterward he spits on the kid and dumps the body into a ravine.

One of these days we will catch you, you son-of-a-bitch!

Until then...

Blankfist is a child rapist.

Good night.

Cops Kill Mentally Challenged Teen Using "Non-Lethal" Force

littledragon_79 says...

Kind of misleading with the title, no? It says he had a learning disability, not Down syndrome. But his Grandma was quoted as saying he was operating at like a 10 or an 11 year old level...not sure if that means reading/writing/math, or overall functioning.

If a person jumps out of a car and runs into an abandoned house, how can cops know how dangerous he is, if he has a weapon(s), if other are people waiting, etc.? That's not a great situation to be in. And just because the kid was small doesn't mean he can't put up a fight. That said, I'm not a fan of tasers and feel there are other, better, ways of handling people.

Like a lot of reports, it seems like we're not getting all the important info. so I think it's hard to say the cops acted appropriately or if the force they used was excessive.

Ron Paul debates Stephen Baldwin on Legalizing Marijuana

HollywoodBob says...

Stephen Baldwin vs. Ron Paul isn't that like setting a 8 year old with down syndrome against Randy "Macho Man" Savage?

Girl with Down Syndrome is named Homecoming Queen (touching)

thinker247 says...

I don't have any heartstrings to be pulled. ABC had a slow news day, and their writing was terrible. "Everything was perfect, except one thing. There weren't enough tissues to go around." Stop. I've had enough.

I've never seen a person with Down Syndrome who wasn't smiling. It's part of being mentally slow; they let go of things that normal people don't.
