Bluegrass Cover of "Owner Of A Lonely Heart"
If you guys enjoy this stuff, check out a series of albums called "pickin on" There are probably around a hundred or so albums of nothing but bluegrass covers. Some of my favorites include

Pickin on classic rock
Pickin on green day
Pickin on AC/DC
Pickin on the White stripes
Pickin on widespread panic
Pickin on the Grateful Dead
The cover of Southern Cross by Crosby Stills and Nash on pickin on classic rock 2 is incredible..
In fact, I think I'll sift a live version of the original, damn that's an amazing song
update edit: http://videosift.com/video/Southern-Cross-live-by-Crosby-Stills-and-Nash
you can preview the pickin on version on amazon but that's the best I could find

Canada is GOLDEN!!! (Canada Talk Post)
As a Capitals fan, I just want to say: F-CK CROSBY!!! The goddam Penguins fans will NEVER shut up now!
A great game nonetheless, but now I'm ready for the NHL to resume.
We hereby claim this website in the name of Canada
Canada!

Canada is GOLDEN!!! (Canada Talk Post)
It was an amazing game. Sydney Crosby really came through. Cheers Canada.
David Bowie & Cher - Young Americans Medley (1975)
Outside of Cher's wig, I don't see anything bizarre at all. Two of the finest performers of their time, at least one of whom has a reputation for being an incredible chameleon (in his musical styles, not just his appearance). Putting them together for a medley of covers seems like a no-brainer to me.
If you want to talk bizarre, the routine with Bowie and Bing Crosby seemed a much more unusual pairing. And -that- one turned out amazing as well.
For those who hate Christmas Carols
The only one I really care for is "Christmas at Ground Zero". Okay, I can bear the duet/skit with David Bowie and Bing Crosby...up to once or twice a year.

Crosby won't do that because he got completely clobbered by the media for pulling a stunt like this in a junior game.

Crosby Behind The Net Goal
He got clobbered for showing vastly superior skill than that of his peers?
Interesting concept. We should all start doing it - secure mediocrity for tomorrow, TODAY!

Cool to watch and the kid shows some good puck control, but I imagine Crosby or Ovechkin would have less luck attempting to slip that one past a goalie that didn't stand on the goal line directly between the pipes...
Fleet Foxes-Mykonos
It's like they're channeling Crosby, Stills, and Nash!
God, they're good.
What's your first memory of rock & roll? (Rocknroll Talk Post)
Didn't hear a whole lot of rock 'n roll in my house when I was a kid. My mom was mostly into country and easy listening (yikes), and my father was old so he liked stuff from Bing Crosby or the Andrews Sisters. I shit you not. However my mom did like Elvis Presley (and still does), but that's not what got me into rock. I pretty much found it on my own, like the rest of my brothers and sisters. I do remember feeling the secret thrill of listening to Nazareth's "Hair Of The Dog" (via my cousin. Maybe Crushbug and I are related).
Hearing "SON OF A BITCH!" in a song is pretty cool when you're 8 years old. In 1975. And lets not underestimate the power of the cow bell.
My first record was Billy Joel's 'Glass Houses', and then after that I bought AC/DC's 'Back In Black', Cheap Trick's 'Dream Police', Styx's 'Paradise Theater', Pink Floyd's 'The Wall', Rush's 'Moving Pictures', Van Halen's first album (aka 'Van Halen I'), sort of in that order, and then a lot more stuff after that, including teh AWESOME 'Dawn Patrol'.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Ohio
>> ^atara:
They were invited to the campus for a memorial service a year or two after the massacre, but CSN&Y refused to come play.
Were they invited by the same authority that invited the National Guard to campus? I wouldn't blame them if they refused a request from Rhodes. I'm just throwing that out there - I have no idea what the circumstances were.
My point is that one doesn't have to have been present at, or a participant in, a cultural event to have been affected by or qualified to comment on that event. Young's song resonated throughout the country (and still does), despite his reluctance to visit. Kind of like "Southern Man". I doubt Neil has spent much time in the deep south - he certainly didn't grow up there like I did, but his lyrics still ring true.
