White House White Board: Tax Cuts

Lawdeedaw says...

>> ^quantumushroom:

Number One:
Our government is in debt. How do you cure debt?
Cut spending? Sure. Tho less spending doesn't remove debt you've already accumulated.
To pay off 14 trillion in Debt. You need 14 trillion in Income
Taxes = Income.

Taxes are not "income", as governments which didn't earn the $$$ use force to collect. Government is not a performance-based enterprise, it's a necessary evil.
Reducing government from a tick bigger than the dog it feasts upon to a reasonable size is part of the equation. The other part is LOWERING taxes for all, which paradoxically creates more revenue.
The obamateur's corrupt excuse of an administration--even with majority voting power--has failed.
Number Two:
No one who MAKES 1 million dollars a year EARNS 1 million dollars a year.
Earning implies you did work.
No single person can physically work to create one million dollars in equivalent value per year. Physically impossible.

Income is an indicator of how much others will pay for an individual's performance. While I think it's total nonsense that people worship some asshole that can slam dunk a ball through a metal ring, others highly value this skill, so much so they make these ring-dunkers multi-millionaires. And the team owners that pay these 'outrageous' salaries reap financial rewards that make those salaries a bargain.
The average American only EARNS about 2.4 mill in LIFETIME earnings.
Which means, anyone who MAKES a Million+ a year STOLE the money EARNED by the VALUE of other people's hard WORK in order to write themselves such fat paychecks.

Sounds like socialist claptrap. This "rigged game theory" is what justifies the redistribution of wealth (at gunpoint) that the obamas of the world believe in. If there is any 'stealing' going on, it's being done by the looters who hand out wealth to people who had absolutely no role in creating it.
The left in America apparently learned nothing from North Korean, Cuban and Soviet experiments about the failure that is communism, and nothing about rampant socialism from the collapse of Greece.
November 2nd. Change is coming.

And the right that borrows money to aviod tax-cuts, or avoids cutting defense when it is needed? And before it is said, ALL of the right is debt-lovers but deniers... 1/1000 at least. "Cut this program, cut that program, but NEVER, ever My programs..."

Physicist Leonard Mlodinow vs. Deepak Chopra

Stormsinger says...

His statement was "... the first approximation of Pi, which refers to infinity."

Pi simply does not refer to infinity, the statement is wrong...false...untrue. This just isn't up for debate, it's not opinion, it's fact. If the point of his statement is that Pi cannot be precisely expressed in decimal form, he did a remarkably bad job of saying so.

If he stuck to his metaphysical claptrap, I'd have no real problem with him (I'd just ignore him), but he tries to put pseudoscience forward as the real thing. The man is a con artist and/or a quack. He deserves to be seriously slapped down...just as much as the owner of the creationist museum does.

Yes Men hoax Chamber of Commerce press conference

NetRunner says...

^ The man at the podium is not from the Chamber of Commerce, he is one of the Yes Men. He has duped members of the press into believing that he is in fact a representative of the Chamber of Commerce, and he is announcing that the Chamber is reversing its position on climate change -- in other words, instead of pretending it's not real and opposing all efforts to deal with it, they're going to jump on board, and actually push Congress to go further, e.g. stop this "clean coal" claptrap, and invest in solar.

The person who interrupts is an actual representative of the Chamber of Commerce, who wants to make clear that the press conference (and accompanying fake press release) are a hoax.

Note, however, that he does not answer the reporter who asks him to clarify the Chamber's position on climate change. He's smart enough to know that it's easy to accidentally say something stupid like "that's a hoax too" or "oh, we're still completely opposed to doing anything about climate change".

Pseudo-scientific claptrap, like most of the far right's "scientific support".

And when it's discredited, they'll just change the name and bring it back in a couple of years. Cause they have an invisible old man in the sky on their side, so you know they're right!

Rep. Anthony Weiner Blasts the Critics of Health Care

Asmo says...

>> ^bobknight33:
Let the free market decide the price of health care and let the individuals / Government punish /fine / jail/ those insurers who willfully F@#k over people.

Didn't your 'free market' recently, sans lube, fuck the asshole out of the world economy? Sink the US further in debt? Tank the mortgage market? Force the taxpayer bailout of dozens of companies? Oh the free market works wonderfully when times are good but when corporate greed finally butchers the cow rather than milking it and revenue dries up, guess who comes cap in hand for free money? The 'not so free anymore' market. Surprise sur-fucking-prise.

The free market is incapable of providing quality, affordable health care. It's been proven over and over again. And if there is a push for more oversight to punish the exploiters, the same people shouting down a public option will be shouting that government oversight = socialist interference with the free market.

As for Pennypacker, seriously pal, every piece of "evidence" you provide is either corporate sponsered or right-wing capitalist propaganda. There is not a single piece of objective non-partisan, non conflict of interest information in there... And you use that claptrap to argue with World Health Organisation and OCED stats? Or ignoring the point made by Mr. Weiner, voters would have a choice. If voters flock to the public option, it's a blatant fact that private health cover has failed...

Fair and balanced? Lol, does it even hurt anymore when the right wing nuts shove their megaphone up your butt so the appropriate sounds come out of your mouth?

Speaking In Tongues Makes Your Brain Work Not Good

Rejecting the Label 'Atheist'

8727 says...

if people were shoving in your face about believing in fairies and attempting to change government policies, and children's education around it.. then you'd feel the need to call yourself one of the people that don't believe in those fairies. same with the need for the atheists, gotta counter the claptrap.

FOX NEWS: Obama's mention of nonbelievers "offensive"

spoco2 says...

When he said that portion in the address I at once balked (I hate non-believers, it's like we are not-right), but at the same time rejoiced that the leader of the most powerful country is actually strong enough in his faith and just enough in his views to include everyone. (and to those complaining that he didn't include all faiths in the address... oh come on... it was a symbolic list, and to include atheists over other religions is just to list SOME religions and also those who believe in NO religion, thereby demonstrating he, and everyone in the states (and the world) should accept everyone no matter their beliefs in a divine being).

This is such utter bullcrap beatup pandering to their known base of viewers, hardline right wing christian idiots who can't think for themselves.

I took offense at the amount of praying and other religious claptrap that was laid onto the inauguration. I don't mind if a president/prim minister is religious, and feels they would like to give thanks to their chosen god for the honour of leading a country, but could they do that in a separate service perhaps? Political acts should have no religion in them...

Batshit Crazy Interpretation of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It'

8972 says...

I could only watch a couple parts, but that was more than enough for me. The sad thing is that there are likely some who would take this claptrap seriously. I can't imagine how superior this must make these folks feel, as compared to all of us inferior *blind* fools.
I think beliefs such as these would hasten one to the insane asylum. But, perhaps they belong there.

Wesley Clark: VERY interesting criticism of John McCain

quantumushroom says...

QM, this poll refutes the first half of your post:

http://pewglobal.org/reports/display.php?ReportID=252

Uh, that "poll" doesn't even cover the Clinton years.

And either way, it rightfully illustrates wrong-headed thinking.

Either B. Clinton was/is a rockstar who could do no wrong (according to the liberal mainstream media) in the eyes of the world, in which case world opinion of the USA was higher at the cost of being attacked repeatedly by emboldened terrorists.......OR Slick was as "despised" as Bush supposedly is now, in which case the liberal can't-we-all-just-get-along milktoast claptrap of Clinton was as soundly rejected by jihadidiots as promises of destruction.

In other words, if they don't accept peace, by blowing them to pieces we lose nothing except the risk of future terrorist attacks.

And Richard Clarke's book refutes the second half of your post.

If you want to stand by Clinton's record of failure in dealing with threats to national security as the best he could do, that's your right.

For the survival-minded, Obama is not a risk worth taking.

Jim Rogers says "Abolish the Fed" (2008-03-12)

Farhad2000 says...

(2) start taxing speculative market operations, especially those involving overseas transactions;

I agree with this one, as right now speculative market transactions are done at seemingly no risk. But I would also add compounded debt instruments because its exactly that kind of claptrap created this mess in the first place.

I find it ridiculous that the Fed, the banks, credit evaluators and the investors are basically being bailed out for what I believe is careless, greedy, haphazard gambling of the mortgage market through bundling of various financial instruments.

They got themselves in this mess by seeking ridiculous and unrealistic profits but now they are trying to socialize the costs. No one is being held accountable, meaning that playing of the financial system will only continue.

The financial system should be based on evolution, bad ideas and endeavors should hurt those who took part in them or at the very least punished but no one is. It's ridiculous.

An Important Message from Jon Stewart to Mitt Romney

spoco2 says...

Holy, frigging Moly this is what scares me about the US.

The fact that someone can be even CONSIDERED a running possibility for President while spewing forth this religious claptrap is truly a scary, scary thing.

Argh... just... argh.
