I got most of these; If you're playing along at home:
Attempt 1: Clair de Lune (Claude Debussy)
Attempt 2: ??
Attempt 3: Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement (Beethoven)
Attempt 4: Harry Potter theme (John Williams)
Attempt 5: Pokemon theme (John Siegler)
Attempt 6: Flight of the Bumblebee (Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov)
Attempt 7: ??
Attempt 8: Russian National Anthem (Alexander Alexandrov)
Attempt 9: Get Along Gang theme (don't know who wrote this)
Attempt 10: Blue (Eiffel 65)
Attempt 11: Thomas the Tank Engine theme (Mike O'Donnell/Junior Campbell)
Attempt 12: Funeral March (Chopin) I'd be surprised/alarmed if she smiled at this (!)
Attempt 13: Jaws theme (Williams)
Attempt 14: Halloween theme (John Carpenter) this too (!)
And the winner..well, you know, a chick song from a chick movie, no wonder she smiles...

One thing I am looking forward to are good polemics as part of the election's post-mortem. In terms of video footage, both Cenk and Kyle over at TYT and Secular Talk respectively went off the rails quite nicely. But the good stuff, the really good stuff, will trickle in, and exclusively in written form.

Lambert over at NC makes a decent start, given his lack of sleep:

The Democrat establishment was warned about their weak candidate, and they were presented with a popular and well-funded alternative: Bernie Sanders. Instead, as the Podesta emails show in lavish detail, they used their control of the party machinery and their service providers in our famously free press to rig the primary in their favor at every turn. When their candidate was nominated, the Democrat establishment tacked right, and proceeded to explain to Sanders voters that their votes were not needed or even desired because, as #BernieBros, they were racist and sexist. Sanders supporters have every right to say #WeWereRight and #WeToldYouSo.

If this were Japan, we’d be seeing Democrat Party leaders committing seppuku, or cutting off their little fingers or — supposing them not to be gangsters — ritually and tearfully bowing to the people they betrayed. This being America, and these being Democrats, they are feverishly deploying the Blame Cannons at racist and sexist #BernieBros, Johnson, Stein, and the dogs who wouldn’t eat the dog food. These assclowns will only leave office if they’re whipped out with scorpions. So get to it, Sanders supporters. This is your time.

And even better, Jeffrey St. Clair's election coverage over at CounterPunch.

always enjoy these kind of videos. adam savage also has a bunch of great ones on his tested channel, that include a lot of great advice on materials and methods.

one tiny revision i'd offer, would be to include the name of the composer of the score, just ahead of the performer. completely understandable, of course, since you're properly quoting the youtube source description, which didn't include it, so unless you're a classical music fan, you'd never realize.

"Clair de Lune" ("Moonlight") was written by French composer Claude Debussy. Peter Schmalfuss was the performer of this recording.

nice sift! thanks for tossing it up here!

Susie Wolff makes F1 history at the British Grand Prix

robbersdog49 says...

This is a great thing, and it will really help break down the barriers to women that exist in motorsport. It was a real shame that Deputy Team Principle Claire Williams tried her best to mess up the message on Sky TV in the build up to the weekend. The Sky team had got a goalie and a goal set up by the side of the track and were getting all the drivers to try to take penalties, some of them really good others couldn't kick a ball for toffee. Claire Williams gets interviewed, the only woman there and her reply when asked to take a penalty was 'I can't do that, I'm a girl...'

Of all the people to say that. A woman in a serious role in a top level F1 team which is trying to help promote women in motorsport. Some of the male drivers asked to take a shot made excuses but just had a go, but she wasn't even prepared to do that and the reason was that she's got a vagina.

I hope Susie Wolff gave her a right good smack when she saw it.

Never heard it before. She has a lovely voice.

Never ceases to amaze me how provincial Americans are -- no way 2/3 of an office could sing along to a song in a foreign language.

There might be one -- the first two lines of Marseilles. Au Clair de la Luna. Oh! And Frere Jacque! Baby French songs. Yep.

It was just on the radio and 2/3 of the office sang along. Great way to start the day!
