The picture as I understand it involves not only the farms but the financial profits reap from them.
There has been some conflict of interest reported as government officials have investments in these farms.

The logging of BC forests also impacts the accessibility up creeks and rivers to spawning beds.
Forest companys have guidelines, but some get broken.

Some farmed fish are fed fish pellets that have been produced from other countries fish stock. So they take fish stock from sometimes poor countries to feed fish in farms.
Last year I heard a biology student talking about feeding the farmed fish canola pellets, imagine carnivorous fish eating canola pellets.

Other issues involve the antibiotics they have to give the fish in order to help them survive in the pen. Too many fish locked in one space.
The larger than normal amounts of sea lice is do to the fish being confined. The fry swim past these farms and pick up the lice in lethal amounts.

I was at the Natural History Museum - Smithsonian when the smaller carnivore was there (looks kinda like some kind of Raptor to me, not sure the exact species.) My two nieces (5 and 7) were FREAKING OUT lol. They loved it. Who ever was controlling it you could see clearly, though they had black stockings on to obscure the legs better.

But very cool, very lifelike. The fog works good to cover the large structure between the big dino's legs for stability.

I really thought I'd be a lot more bothered by this video than I turned out to be. This really isn't as horrific as videos where workers are having a good time torturing animals (like kicking them across the room, etc.).

It's not that I just don't care those little guys are suffering so much, but I guess it's an unfortunate aspect of nature. Lots of animals do equally or even worse things to other animals when they're eating them in the wild.

Humans as a species are carnivores. Many people can use their high level thinking to try smothering that fact, but there's no arguing with nature. And unfortunately ugly things have to be done to all things that are eaten (whether plant or animal).

Consider for a moment if M. Night's hypothesis in "The Happening" is true and we discover that plants do feel pain and suffering. Would people stop eating those as well and just eat synthesized food for the rest of their lives?

We ARE built to be omnivorous (not carnivorous as you say). I have NO ISSUE with people choosing to be vegetarian (vegan is a little off the deep end to my thinking, I mean really, do you think a chicken really cares if you use their eggs? Considering my chickens leave them lying around the garden to go off if we don't... I don't think they give a crap)

My issue is with people saying 'The solution is for us all to be vegetarians'. No, that doesn't solve things at all. So, yes we ARE designed to be omnivorous, our bodies need the nutrients gleaned from meat, our teeth are designed to tear meat, if we were purely herbivores we'd have grinding teeth only like cows... and maybe two stomachs.

And seeing as B12 is VERY important for a growing body, and isn't found in ANY part of a vegan diet... well, they can go to hell if they try to tell me it's the way we should all live, because they're taking artificial supplements probably derived from animal products in order to keep up the required vitamins their body needs that they aren't getting because they're not eating meat like they're designed to.

My issue with with those like Peta who put animals over humans, and are hypocritical in what they preach as they have harmed people in the name of stopping cruelty to animals, which seems insane, as we're animals too.

Anyway... I have vegetarian friends, I enjoy vegetarian food, I believe we need to eat more vegetables (you should see the helping we have every night with our meals, and we have our own vegie patch)... but I don't want to cut out meat entirely, I don't think others should be being high and mighty over others who don't want to and feeling all superior for being vegetarian.

That is correct direpickle, as far as I know.
Still its really annoying when people who really are intellegent and have otherwise sound values (yes i´m talking about you spoco2:) conclude that we´re just supposed to eat meat. We are not designed to be carnivours, we can choose.
But I don´t think the killing is the real issue. No human knows how animals or vegetables for that sake experience things. We can only assume. It´s the sympthomes of humans fancying ourselves being some kind of superiour existence that make me feel unpleasant. Even if we assume animals experience pain the same way we do, it doesn´t stop us from treating them like shit. Unnecessarily too.

Here's a gripe about Macs that is irritating me today, simply because I'm dealing with it at the moment. Why does Apple have to release a new OS version every two years or so? Seriously! It's fucking me up with my software (and hardware) purchases!

OSX Tiger was released in 2005. OSX Leopard was released in 2007. Now OSX Snow Leopard is coming out tomorrow. This is fucking me up! I just purchased a brand new, factory-sealed Mac Book Pro in 2007 with Tiger installed and now it's a fucking relic?! What crap. All the new software I need to purchase (or upgrade) requires at least Leopard. Can they just get their OS right and be done with it for a while?

Windows released XP Pro in 2001 and it still works adequately, even though it certainly has it's own problems. I have that installed on one of my machines I use frequently and I never have to worry about software or hardware upgrades requiring a newer version of the OS to work. Sure, they may require an update to the Service Pack, but it's all free and easy to do without purchasing a whole new OS!

Oh, and I just purchased a new Blu-Ray external drive, but the Mac OS won't play protected BD movies. Oh and don't get me started on iTunes updates with a 80MB download that happens every time a new syncable device change happens (which is VERY often)! And most important what do apples and felines have to do with each other? Nothing. It's confusing. Cats don't even like fruits, because they're carnivores.

There. Those are some legitimate gripes for you Apple-Cult hipsters to choke on for a while.

1. "plant"-animal hybrid reference is appropriate because it is the energy pathways being discussed, not the food source.

2. Photosynthesizing humans may have evolved. but they would have been so appetizing in appearance and delicious, that they would have been eaten into extinction by the carnivorous humans before they ever left a fossil record.

3. i think they should study this to see if through reverse-engineering, they can learn to graft discarded human fetal arms onto apple trees, and thereby grow trees that can pick their own apples! Just like in the Munchkinland suburbs!
