Hardball: Joe Solmonese vs. Pat Buchanan on Gay Marriage

btw: Who gives one shit what Pat Buchanan has to say about marriage? Jesus fucking christ!

Catholic Charities is not the only adoption agency in the state. They found additional placements for kids without homes. They wouldn't compromise on their beliefs, and the state wouldn't let them only adopt to straight couples. You could just as easily argue that the state's bigotry was at fault, but the real losers here are the kids who won't get to live in a loving household.

Personally, I have no problem if there's a Jewish adoption agency that only finds placements with Jewish families, or whatever, as long as there's a state agency that will adopt to whoever. Getting more kids adopted is a Good Thing, and it sort of makes me sick to think that people would put their politically correct bullshit first over kids who need families.

Hardball: Joe Solmonese vs. Pat Buchanan on Gay Marriage

Lodurr says...

That's kind of a straw man argument. There are all kinds of fertility treatments, and new ones come along all the time, and we're almost at a point where a completely infertile couple could produce a genetic offspring (through surrogates, but genetically theirs). A more valid argument is that since women can produce children simply by going to a sperm bank, why is Pat Buchanan against homosexual women getting married? With sperm easily available, they're even more fertile than a heterosexual couple.

In California, where domestic partnerships by law grant all the same rights as marriages, the gay marriage debate is simply a culture war over a word. Both sides of the argument seem petty to me, one for having couple's rights but wanting a different name for it, and the other for exaggerating the effects of redefining a word.

Oh noes! Obama is really the WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

purposely creating racism while pretending to fight it i think makes a circle neatly back to the nest of being a racist.

Ron Paul debates Stephen Baldwin on Legalizing Marijuana

StukaFox says...

Ron Paul is like Pat Buchanan: he says one sane thing that makes you think, "Wow, that guy's got it together!", then he says something batshit insane, and makes you think, "..."

That said, this is one of his saner moments.

What are Israel's long term goals here? Do they think that if they can kill every member of Hamas that all of their troubles will go away?

Nope, they just want to kill anyone who has or will ever vote for a group like Hamas.

But the real answer is much more Ockham's.. The long term goal is really just the ruling party's short term goal of getting re-elected. They looked foolish and got their arse handed to them, so now they are showing they can be tough against Arabs, even if they causing long term problems.

Ok mharvey, I'll bite... That wikipedia page has to be the weakest "proof" of anti-semitism and I guess it shows that when Israel defenders run into anything even remotely approaching a valid argument they start throwing out this stigma of anti-semite.

The first widespread accusations of anti-Semitism against Buchanan concerned the September 15, 1990, McLaughlin Group program.[124] On it, Buchanan said that "there are only two groups that are beating the drums for war in the Middle East -- the Israeli defense ministry and its 'amen corner' in the United States."[124] He also said, "The Israelis want this war desperately because they want the United States to destroy the Iraqi war machine. They want us to finish them off. They don't care about our relations with the Arab world."[124]

This means.. what? I agree with this, so I must also be a jew hater.

I read through that section quickly, and I didn't see any Buchanan words that show some hateful anti-Jew sentiment. I love how idiots mistake being against Israel policies and anti-semitism, or even talking about Hitler historically and philosophically devolves into Godwin's and anti-semitism calls.

It is just sad and weak then your only defense of IDF bombings is ad hom attack on Buchanan must therefore he must be anti-semite.

On the subject, Jews have been around a lot longer then the recent concept of Israel. It was literally a toss up between middle east and south america, so I really can't understand all these anti-zionist colonialism is somehow anti-Jew. Aside from the obvious PR campaign and manipulation of the US politicians, why isn't it bad to be a racist anti-Arab or anti-Palestinian like you are? Everytime you talk about Palestinians as less then human or child-killing, bomb-strapping, human-shielders.. it's 100x worse then what Buchanan said and technically is sounds to me like you are saying "gas them all" (yea for my Godwin's). But the irony is always lost on those spouting IDF propaganda.

Bush's diplomatic ineptitude in dealing with Palestine has created the conditions for Hamas to come to power. They are a terrorist faction and Israel needs to defend themselves. I hate to pin yet another failure on Bush -- with such a disastrous laundry list of FAILURES connected to him as it is -- but the fact of the matter is, the U.S. serves a diplomatic role for Israel in the Middle East and Bush's staunch pro-Israel / anti-Palestine position these past eight years has functioned, primarily, as a yet another example of black-and-white thinking which characterize most of the failures during his administration.

Oh, and Pat Buchanan failed to mention the concentration camp the U.S. maintained with the Japanese during WW II.

Pat Buchanan is probably a little racist, but mostly if you are black and in the US. I can't see anything he said here that is anti-Jew and I love how you have zero defending this absurd behavior by the Israelis.

Here you go Dirt, do your homework. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Buchanan#Accusations_of_Anti-Semitism
assuming this wasn't a plant by the "Zionist Occupied Government", it may shed some light on your new hero.

And Wtf - It's OK if he's only "a little racist", and just hates blacks? Strange bedfellows you have Dirt.

LOL.. I don't think anyone has ever made it faster to ignore lists, and that includes a lot of people. This harvey guy keeps making ridiculous statements that keep showing how weak this Israeli side really is.

Pat Buchanan is probably a little racist, but mostly if you are black and in the US. I can't see anything he said here that is anti-Jew and I love how you have zero defending this absurd behavior by the Israelis.

Copy and paste this, because it is all your are left with.
- you must be an anti-semite
- it's all Hamas fault
- Palestinians could have ended this and had fabulous lifestyle of luxury
- Hamas hides behind human shields
- israel can't help bombing them, it's for everyone's good
- israel can't help bombing schools, they are hiding in there

Yes, Israel did help create Hamas to undermine the previous political support, but the US also created Bin Laden with money and CIA training. Clearly, it is a country's right to go bomb the hell out of their Frankenstein's monster when it goes all haywire. Who cares what country that happens to be in.
