Make Your Characters Straight - or You're Not Published

Porksandwich says...

There are plenty of books that I've read where the characters seem to be bisexual and constantly flirt with the idea, especially female characters. I find it to be rather annoying when it comes up so often in the books that it overshadows the story or in some cases becomes the story.

Try reading Laurel K. Hamilton, that author went off the deep end with her character Anita Blake, around book 9 or 10, she just stops with the teasing and has her sleeping with everything and everyone. It got really tedious reading through the book or two following 10, so I stopped reading the series. Plus the books just kept getting shorter and shorter when I saw her new books released. They went from 250-400 pages to about 150 and complaints full of the sex in the book taking up too much of the content.

These guys could probably find another place to publish. I mean after all Laurel K Hamilton delves into beastiality, criticizing her readers for being prudes when they get tired of story turning into her weird sex imaginings.

Green lantern movie trailer

EMPIRE says...

I don't exactly agree with Dag on the "let's stop making super hero movies" thing... but yeah, I also think it looks lame. The CGI looks terrible (particularly his suit and mask), and even the acting isn't good. And Hal Jordan is not a goofy character. And Blake Lively's acting... just seemed terrible.

I want more super hero movies, but I want them to be made properly.

Looks far more promising than 'Thor' as inferred by the hammer at the end of Iron Man 2. Meh

Ah, Trinity is his younger years.

Hah! I feel the same way whenever I see John Lithgow in anything other than Dexter any more. So funny how a happy go lucky actor can be turned into an evil psychopath in one season of a show.

Actually, he's no noob to the dark side. Dr. Emilio Lizardo/Lord John Whorfin in Buckaroo Banzai, Earl Blake in Richochet. He was especially chilling in Raising Cain, and who can forget Shrek's Lord Farquaad?

help me sabotage the AFA's anti-gay letter writing campaign! (Gay Talk Post)

Dear Chairman Blake:

Good for you supporting the gay community! Some cro-magnons may be against you...but I imagine there was a similar backlash when the first few businesses started openly welcoming black customers in the late 50s, early 60s. Is there any group MORE short-sighted than religious groups? I tend to doubt it.

Anyway, good job. Keep it up!

Screw the AFA

Dear Chairman Blake:

I fully support your company's acknowledgment and recognition of your gay and lesbian clientele. The American Family Association is a despicable organization that would like nothing better than to censor everything that they deem offensive. They should spend less time worrying about what other people are doing, and spend more time educating themselves with something other than the Bible and parenting their own children, except that I fear for those children.

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to proudly patronizing my local Home Depot soon.

Subject: Keep up the good work!

Dear Chairman Blake:

Your company's financial support of gay pride parades is an inspiration to me, my family, and the business community at large.

I realize it must be difficult to stand up to support the gay community in the United States (I'm Canadian btw), and I commend you for your courage and kindness.

Keep up the good work, and don't worry about all the folks from the AFA - any institution as dedicated to bigotry and small-mindedness as they are does not deserve your attention or consideration.

(They're not all bad - I'm currently using their form e-mail/letter template they have on their website to send this e-mail to you

And yes, I too am a Pastor.
