was gonna say, "ew" 'cause cats roll in dirt, deal in vermin and often bring down government drones (birds aren't real).

reasons for the adverse are; licking a - cat - one might expose themselves to Ted Nugent Syndrome (aka Cat Scratch Fever), ring worm, T. gondii, Salmonella or Campylobacter.

the potential symptoms run along the spectrum of flu-like symptoms, serve diarrhea, stomach cramps, fungus among us, and associated risk with a number of neurological disorders – particularly schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. [having your cat drag in one of those black-op drones is way uncool too]

Everything We Think We Know About Addiction Is Wrong

shinyblurry says...

The love of a God didn't save me from trauma, sexual and gender identity issues, clinical depression, and the ever looming bipolar disorder. Living is hard, even if it's also simultaneously fun and easy for me to succeed; because the concept of my personal identity isn't flush with the expectations that society and my family have. Being myself almost always gets me in trouble and is misunderstood with sometimes violent repercussions. This forms further cognitive dissonance which is a psychological isolation that has physical isolation as a matter of course. Depression runs in my family, despite all of their love and adoration of Jesus. Southern Baptists, bless their hearts.

I'm sorry to hear about all of that poolcleaner. I think maybe you have the idea that Christians, according to the bible, are supposed to live pain free lives. That isn't what the bible says, though. Jesus promised that Christians would suffer, not only persecutions but grievous trials, physically and spiritually. A Christian is supposed to die to himself, take up his cross, and follow Jesus.

That means a Christian can become depressed, or have gender issues, or any number of other infirmities or temptations. Christians can and do screw up all the time. People have a picture of churches filled with people who think they are perfect, but it is the opposite. Churches are usually filled with people who have screwed up everything royally, and God rebuilt their lives from the ground up. Churches are filled with people who know and proclaim that it is only by Gods grace and mercy that there is anything good happening in their lives; they are filled with broken people who are held together in the loving arms of almighty God. They fall apart sometimes and God puts them back together again.

There's almost nothing logical about anything you say. The only logic is that you make things make sense according to the Bible. If it's scientifically logical but goes against the teachings Christ or God, it's wrong. If the Bible can support the science, it's good!

The most destructive thing in a mans life is a lack of integrity. When you cheat, you aren't getting away with it because no one found out; you are going to reap a bitter harvest from the bad seed you have sown. A loss will occur, whether it is financially, or even mentally and emotionally, and it will far outweigh the temporary gains. It is the same with lying, hating, lusting, etc. Sin in our lives is destructive physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The bible describes it in exacting detail and it matches reality because the true reality of mankind, what he is really like, and why, can only be found in scripture. The bible is right about everything it says about mankind. Although the bible does match our observations of the natural world, I think it is more remarkable how it matches the reality of the inner universe.

I don't know if think you think this is science or not, as far as the video goes. As far as I can tell it is speculation based on a few studies the author researched. Has anyone tested his theory?

You, on the other hand, make every excuse to prove your stupid philosophy is true and that science is wrong for not agreeing upon the truth of your hippy God love cult. Prove me to be objectively incorrect in my perspective and I will give up on my convictions. Because what is a conviction if it's a false one based upon circular logic and feel good analogies? Oh, them feels. Them Jesus feels. Jesus hippy love.

I'm not a Christian because I thought it was a good idea, or because it made me feel good. When I gave my life to Jesus, I didn't feel any differently at all, except perhaps with a realization of some things I had to change in my life. I became a Christian because God revealed Himself to me, and He showed me Jesus is the messiah. No one ever witnessed to me or explained the gospel in my entire life; it was entirely because of personal revelation that I became a Christian.

I'm not here to prove anything; I post when I feel motivated by God, and the intent of my heart is care and concern for your souls. I started coming here when I was a new christian, and I got into arguments with people over petty issues. To me, now, the real issue is where you're spending eternity and I am praying for that. Perhaps I will never be known on this forum as anything other than an unthinking zealot, but God knows I am sincere at least about that.

Everything We Think We Know About Addiction Is Wrong

You do realize the people who have the whole world as their oyster are in an entirely different form of isolation, right? You're oversimplifying the concept of isolation in an effort to push your Jesus drug.

I understand this because I have lived that life; being both the life of the parties at fortune 500 companies and a solitary hermit, addicted and lonely in a world that no one else fully understands. Not because of a lack of Jesus drug, my friend. I tried the Jesus drug and it is the cause of much of my cognitive dissonance.

There are so many other factors you're ignoring just so that you can present the lamest of analogies of seeds on dry soil and sin cages.

Sin cages. Ignorant science versus the logical sin cage. Nuff said.

There's almost nothing logical about anything you say. The only logic is that you make things make sense according to the Bible. If it's scientifically logical but goes against the teachings Christ or God, it's wrong. If the Bible can support the science, it's good!

But that's not how science works. Scientists do not make stupid excuses in order to support prior written works which lack evidence. If something doesn't make sense, a scientist no longer uses it as a basis to explain the world around them.

Stephen Fry Confesses 2012 Suicide Attempt

This thought can be short-sighted. For every great musician, artist, etc who suffers from bipolar disorder, there are hundreds who don't produce excellent output due to their condition.

Most of my clients who suffer from this do not produce the creativity that is sometimes erroneously associated with this disorder. It is not a fun problem to have and I hardly think that it exists for a reason. It is rather torturous for those who suffer from it.

Charlie Sheen Says He's 'Not Bipolar but 'Bi-Winning'

Porksandwich says...

My brother acted a lot like him. Drug use and bipolar disorder. They can answer a question and it might sound like they actually believe it or mean it. As the conversation continues, their viewpoint/excuse/answer will change to similar questions and when you point it out to them you don't understand. But if you just let them talk and don't show any kind of opinion or show any kind of agenda or direction in your questions, they will just keep on answering your questions with what you might think is a smartass response until you look at them all and see the insanity and at best circular logic if any logic can be applied.

And the drug use switch on/off.......my brother totally did that. Also claimed he wasn't addicted, even though he talks about marijuana and how good it is for you even now. If you listen to him, most diseases would be cured by it, car accidents would never happen, you think more clearly, it doesn't have any negative side effects on your lungs or health, you can't die from it or do something that could cause your death while under the effects of it, people would never lace it with anything, etc etc. Basically your standard miracle cure all, never suffer from anything ever if you had it whether it be food shortage or money issues. Never mind the fact that the stuff pretty much fucked his world sideways on multiple occasions because he couldn't moderate his usage. It was all in all the time, or never touch the stuff.....until he couldn't stand it anymore and back into all in. Oh and it's not a gateway drug ever for anyone, despite the fact that he moved into other "stuff" every single time.

And now that he's more like an actual human being, he talks about how the drugs that bring him back to human status make him feel bad. Because when you're bipolar, you go from feeling super amped can accomplish anything in 2 hours or less to feeling like doing anything at all is a major task and will probably kill you. I mean you could see him flip from one to the other, and even now on script drugs still see it.

The problem with the disease in general is that only the naturally violent ones actually get treatment forced on them. Unless you do something or say something that would indicate you might harm others police typically don't do anything, and when it comes to yourself..they only seem to act if you say you're going to kill yourself. And often times even if they do act and put you on a medical hold, the doctors at the facilities can hold you for 72 hours and release you at any time unless they find cause to show you might be off the deep end, no possible way you could function in society kind of insane.

Untreated mental conditions are fun to deal with. Bipolar is one of those things where if the person can hold it together in front of cops and judges and keep from getting violent...they can go on for years flipping back and forth between super nice dude, normal, and super insane pissed off guy until something gives. Either end up killing themselves, break in front of someone who can force treatment on them, or a myriad of other things. Age seems to worsen the condition. Just another reason we need universal health care, because then there's no excuse to not be treated once diagnosed especially if you are a danger to yourself and others through substance abuse as a coping mechanism (drunk driving, impaired driving via illegal drugs).

I have a brother with a bipolar disorder and I suspect it comes from my moms side of the family because as she's gotten older she shows more symptoms and a lot of the males on her side of the family have killed themselves. So I suspect one day my brother will end up in the same boat because he won't take any medication prescribed even if it's something he requests specifically....saying that the government is trying to get him to take chemicals..blah blah. All that paranoia shit that comes with bipolar. No one can make him take medications unless he becomes loud, obnoxious and has the appearance of being on the verge of violence by ranting and stalking around....which he learned from experience when the cops took him away.

So........having all that experience with my brother's condition and how he reacts. This recording sounds familiar. Irrational complaints that skip all over the place with a lot of repetition of the same exact argument over and over. If she had tried to reason with him much, I suspect he'd just repeat it over and over until she stopped...or he'd have hung up. It's like an irrational "fight or flight" response to stupid things or "out of the blue" things that didn't seem to bother the person the day or week before.

I suspect an overdose is in Mel Gibson's future, only way he can see to "deal" with the demons...because he's not sick like everyone keeps telling him he is...they're just out to get him.

What a douchebag. His career pretty much reached its zenith in 1995 and then had nowhere to go but down while he brooded about it and became an alcoholic/druggie/fundie with bipolar disorder. Like everything, a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Free will is a a subjective feeling with no basis in physics.

no i'm with berti on this one. it's kind of bullshit. it's a pretty thought, but silly and immature.

i have some up close intimate personal in depth experience with the bipolar disorder, i assure you the problem isn't the "rest of the world is crazy" or that "i'm special! they won't recognize i'm special!" what a juvenile thought and an absolute cop out.

The Tragic Life of Ludwig Boltzmann

crotchflame says...

I don't mean to be picky, but I don't like the title. I don't think you can call his life tragic just because it ended in a way most of us wouldn't choose. The presentation here is a little over dramatic, I think, but it does make the story entertaining. But saying that his equation for entropy killed him or that his life was a tragic struggle against the established view of science is a little off the mark. He did suffer from bipolar disorder, but that seems more unfortunate than tragic.
