It's not only hippies who build these types of homes. Go through places like the Dakotas and Wyoming and Montana, and you'll find that ranchers and farmers have been building huge straw bale homes for ages.

Interestingly, the Director of American Psycho (Mary Harron) has recently revealed that Christian Bale based his character on Tom Cruise:

How did you and Christian Bale develop his character in American Psycho?

It was definitely a process. We talked a lot, but he was in L.A. and I was in New York. We didn’t actually meet in person a lot, just talked on the phone. We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave. And then one day he called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.

First of all, that was HARDLY "freaking out." That was Matt Damon getting pissed because the douche couldn't remember his 5 lines and was overdoing it. Probably you'd get frustrated too if a payed actor couldn't recite something an amateur high school kid could read more sincerely.

Freaking out is when you yell at a crew guy for 5 minutes straight because he walked in your line of vision...like Mr. Bale likes to do.

It looked to me like he just wanted to get it done and it was taking far too long.

It does seem a little to well setup and all, and it reeks of the Christian Bale tape. Also, what moron would keep rushing up to Bruer like that (or anyone for that matter) after being repeatedly told not to?

and not nearly as impressive as his transformation from that directly to Batman. He actually gained TOO much weight, he was too bulky initially.

Apparently, Christian Bale doesn't kiss his mother, but he sure has heck pushes her around.

There are some really odd Nine Inch Nails parallels with this movie. Around the time of it's release With Teeth was still being called Bleedthrough and the NIN web site had quotes from the Lathe of Heaven (Bale's character works with a lathe in the movie).

With this next one I'm very anti-spoiler when it comes to movies so I don't want to say too much, but originally Bleedthrough would have been more of a concept album, and had themes very similar to the movie's. The last song on With Teeth is an example of a song that probably was left over from the original concept.

Also the main character's name, Trevor Reznik... similar to someone else's.

It's an OK film. The marketing mentioned that it was a mix of Fight Club and Memento and that's about right. It manages to be less interesting than either of those films. The revelation/twist didn't seem an interesting enough payoff for what had gone before. Also Bale is left to carry the film on his own and I can't help but feel that he needed better support.

And Bale's weight loss was remarkable but I just wish it was part of a better film.

With this ending we would have never seen the likes of such gems like Terminator 3 and Terminator 4: The flipping out of Christian Bale.
