U.S. Officials Confirm U.S. Attack On Syria

radx says...

AP:

"We are taking matters into our own hands," the official told The Associated Press in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the political sensitivity of cross-border raids.

As if anyone still gives a fuck. If there were any consequences to suffer for such action, they would have suffered them years ago, or decades even. At this moment in time, it's just bad PR if you ask me.

Obama at Saddleback Church - Pro-Choice, Not Pro-Abortion

NordlichReiter says...

I'm going to offend some people here but I have to.

This guy has it all, pro choice and anti 2nd amendment.

Just because I support the 2nd amendment does not make me a religious conservative. I support the constitution, what does that make me?

And know I wont explain it to you naysayers out there, this guy is just the same as the other guy if not worse. He is "A peace loving decoy ready for retaliation." (-Dirty harry gorillaz).

He says he is pro gun, yet he supports the ban in Chicago, and in the District of Columbia even though they struck it down. Yet it is still illegal to own any automatic or semi auto gun? That's every gun except revolvers and lever actions and pump shot guns. Not to mention the class 3 weapons, that are classified assault. That usually means any weapon with a "bayonet lug", recoil suppressors, or heat plating (commonly seen on shotguns particularly the Spas series.)

9 Senators Chuck Schumer and John Kerry had both cosponsored S. 1431 in 2003, a bill that would have banned any semi-auto shotgun that also contained a pistol grip, which the bill defined as "a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip." According to that definition, just about any semi-automatic shotgun would be banned.

11 About the so-called "assault weapons" ban, Obama says, "I believe we need to renew -- not roll back -- this common sense gun law." See supra note 8.
12 See supra note 5.
13 As a state senator, "Obama regularly supported gun-control measures, including a ban on semiautomatic 'assault weapons' and a limit on handgun purchases to one a month." "Obama Record May be Gold Mine for Critics," Associated Press, January 17, 2007.
14 On July 28, 2005, Senator Obama voted for a provision requiring gun dealers to include the sale of a lock-up-your-safety device with every handgun sold. The amendment, offered by Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI), passed by a vote of 70-30. The provision amended the gun makers' protection act (S. 397).
15On July 29, 2005, Senator Obama voted against S. 397, a bill that was designed to put an end to the frivolous lawsuits that were threatening to put many gun dealers out of business. While an argument could be made that a pro-gun Senator might vote against this bill because it contained a lock-up-your-safety provision (see supra note 14), the fact that Obama voted in favor of that trigger lock amendment (but against the overall bill) indicates his real animus against helping gun dealers protect themselves from the anti-gun lawsuits that were aimed at driving them into bankruptcy.
16 On July 13, 2006, Sen. Obama voted for Emergency Powers language that saw only 16 of the most ardent anti-gun senators vote against it. The amendment provides that no money can be used by federal agents to confiscate firearms during a declared state of emergency. The amendment was added to the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill (HR 5441).
17 On January 18, 2007, Senator Obama voted against a pro-gun amendment to strike language in S. 1 that would infringe upon the free speech rights of groups like Gun Owners of America. The amendment, which passed, struck requirements that would have required GOA to monitor and report on its communications with its members, and could easily have led to government demands for GOA's membership list (a.k.a. registration).
18 Obama has frequently made statements which indicate that he would restrict the interstate sale of firearms. For example, he told the NAACP that, "We've got to make sure that unscrupulous gun dealers aren't loading up vans and dumping guns in our communities, because we know they're not made in our communities. There aren't any gun manufacturers here, right here in the middle of Detroit." Senator Barack Obama, at the NAACP Presidential Primary Forum, July 12, 2007.

All i am saying is do a little digging on this. I don't want warmongering republican or a lair democrat for president.

I have know problem with commonsense law, but don't lie about your record. I support background checks and the tests needed to get a CCW.

Get this, in some states all you need is hunters education can get a CCW.

This argument has nothing to do with pro choice or pro life in which case I am indifferent.

Racists-not blue collar white voters-are Obama's bane

quantumushroom says...

Racists - those who judge solely based on race - are also Obam's strength. Black Democrats are voting for him because he's Black. It can't be anything else, since Clinton's husband Bill during his 8 LONG years pumped billions into the Black community. Some thanks.

White Democrats are voting for BHO because he's not-White/same old.

Racism? What about opposing Obama's RED socialism, and then there's that politicized, Farrakhan-honoring "church" of his, which has been a delightful embarrassment.

Racism? Why, Obama has the support of Robert "KKK" Byrd D-WV, the longest "serving" member in Congress. Wouldn’t you expect the endorsement of a (half) Black man by a former Grand Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan to be headline news?

And yet the the Associated Press buried this historic event.

Why is that, do you think?

Do you think if a former Klansman endorsed a Republican Presidential candidate it would be similarly soft pedaled?

Interview with Pilot on Hillary's "sniper" Bosnia flight

- Associated Press, 3/17/08

"Everyone else was told to sit on their bulletproof vests," Clinton said. "And we came in, in an evasive maneuver....There was no greeting ceremony, and we basically were told to run to our cars. Now, that is what happened."

- Clinton speech, 3/17/08
"I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia, and as Togo said, there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn’t go, so send the First Lady. That’s where we went. I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."

- New York Times, 3/1/08
"[S]he evoked foreign battlefields, recalling a trip to Bosnia as first lady, when the welcoming ceremony ‘had to be moved inside because of sniper fire.’ She said she had traveled to more than 80 countries and was ‘on the front lines’ as the United States made peace in Bosnia and Northern Ireland and helped save refugees from ethnic cleansing in Kosovo."

- CNN 1/1/08
"I was the first, you know, high-profile American to go into Bosnia after the peace accords were signed because we wanted to show that the United States was 100 percent behind the agreement. We wanted to make it clear to the Bosnians of all backgrounds. Plus we wanted to thank our American military and our allies for a great job. So, we landed in one of those corkscrew landings and ran out because they said there might be sniper fire. I don’t remember anybody offering me tea on the tarmac."

Clinton said she was "sleep-deprived" and "misspoke" when she said last week that she landed under sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia in 1996, when she was first lady.

Higley Bus Driver Fights Student (FULL VIDEO)

blankfist says...

From Associated Press:

"Friday, February 22, 2008

PHOENIX — Charges may be forthcoming after a fight involving a Higley Unified School District bus driver and three teenagers that was captured on a security video, authorities said.

Gilbert police released a copy of a district videotape Thursday that shows a Williams Field High School girl and bus driver Kim Sullivan in a disagreement last Friday that escalates over the course of 15 minutes.

The tape shows both are verbally combative with each other.

Later, Sullivan takes the girl's cell phone and calls for security and a student on the bus called 911 after the bus had stopped and the shoving match began, the video shows.

Police are investigating three teens and Sullivan, 54, in connection with the situation.

Higley officials have sent a letter home to parents saying they are conducting their own investigation to determine what disciplinary measures to take."

Navy shoots down Spy Satellite

Krupo says...

I love the completely pointless pointing (no pun intended)

Sounds like the Chinese doing more of a "bitching to save face" thing:

“China is continuously following closely the possible harm caused by the U.S. action to outer space security and relevant countries,” Mr. Liu said, according to the Associated Press. “China requests the U.S. to fulfill its international obligations in real earnest and provide to the international community necessary information and relevant data in a timely and prompt way so that relevant countries can take precautions.”

American officials were critical of China last year for using an anti-satellite weapon to destroy a satellite in a much higher orbit in January 2007 and then refusing to confirm the test for nearly two weeks. The Chinese test produced 1,600 pieces of debris that are expected to orbit the Earth for years, preventing other spacecraft from using the same or similar orbits.

Canadian Police Taser Man To Death

Krupo says...

In this article the LIES spoken by the police are exposed: http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/canada/story.html?id=fd8c0fe5-d78e-4219-a0cb-cef362f6f798
My above-comment on the fact that 4 trained officers can handle a civilian without resorting to tasers are backed up by an American policing college instructor.

Or perhaps these cops WEREN'T trained?

The concerns raised: Donald Van Blaricom, former chief of the Bellevue, Wash., police, said police should have made Mr. Dziekanski sit up as soon as possible after he was Tasered to help him breathe normally.

He said Mr. Dziekanski's resistance after being handcuffed may have been due to his inability to catch his breath.

The 2005 report concluded many Taser-related deaths are likely due to the way suspects are restrained after being Tasered, rather than the Taser itself.

The report recommended that, after a Taser shock, a subject be restrained in a way that allows him to breathe easily, preferably face up.

Lyman is the instructor I cited earlier:

"I don't even think batons or Mace would have been necessary, given that there were four officers on the scene," said Mr. Lyman.

Polish government demands prosecution: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/11/16/poland-taser.html

RCMP officers involved in the fatal Taser takedown of a Polish immigrant at Vancouver International Airport should be prosecuted for their "excessively brutal and unjustified" actions, a spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry said.

"No attempts were made to use other means to solve the situation, but from the very start the toughest means available to the police was used," Robert Szaniawski told the Associated Press.

Good for them.

Unlike 99% of the governments around the world, including Canada's, that just let people get SCREWED by the Man.

I'm going to go down to the Consulate to file the papers to apply for my Polish citizenship as soon as I get some time off work.

Seriously.

Marie Osmond Faints on "Dancing With The Stars"

youdiejoe says...

Update from ET:

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

They should call it the Samba de la muerte. After kicking off last night's live broadcast of Dancing with the Stars with a lively samba performance, Marie Osmond fainted. Moments before dropping through her dance partner's arms like a sack of sequined potatoes, Osmond was jumping around and giggling at the judges' comments.

"She was laughing and then sank like a stone … Everyone froze," ABC publicist Amy Astley told Associated Press.

As the camera zoomed out to show Osmond splayed out on the dance floor, the program quickly cut to commercial. After the break, host Tom Bergeron did his best to inform viewers of Osmond's condition.

"I want to just quote her exactly … The first words out of her mouth when she saw us all leaning over her were, 'Oh, crap,;" said Bergeron. It remains unclear as to whether Osmond was reacting to her on-air fall, or to agreeing to being a Dancing with the Stars contestant.

After commercial, Osmond was seen back on her feet awaiting the judges' scores. Dance partner, Jonathan Roberts, though, was seen spooning the mother of eight tightly enough to keep her from a repeat spill.

Osmond, who turned 48 on Oct. 13, explained away the incident, saying on-air with a giggle that "once in awhile that happens to me when I get winded. I stop breathing." Yikes. ABC, however, is expecting Osmond to undergo a medical examination before the next episode, AP reports.

This woman got out just in time...

This is the text from Fox News on that "background story" link firefly posted (in case the news link dies in the future):

From Associated Press via Fox News at http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,302604,00.html

"I do think that he was a godsend," Betsy DeVall said in a story published Wednesday in The Greenville News. "I would be in a body bag in a million pieces."

No major injuries were reported.

Greer Police Sgt. Marcus O'Shields said he was parked nearby when saw DeVall turn onto the tracks early Tuesday. DeVall appeared to be lost, and she was on her cell phone trying to get directions to a friend's house, he said.

Another officer told O'Shields by radio that a train was coming, but DeVall could not move the car.

"About the same time is when I heard the train coming and I started to coaxing the driver and telling her we need to get out of the vehicle, we need to get off these tracks," O'Shields told CNN Wednesday. "At first, I don't think she realized what type of danger she was actually in until the train actually struck her vehicle."

Amtrak engineer Scott Lynch was going about 72 mph when he saw tail lights and O'Shields waving a flashlight, according to a police report. Lynch applied the emergency brakes, but could not stop the train in time.

A video from a dashboard camera in O'Shields' cruiser showed DeVall's car bursting into flames as the train pushed it down the tracks.

Two people on the train were treated with oxygen and one person suffered an injured knee, according to Amtrak spokeswoman Tracy Connell.

The train was delayed for 5 1/2 hours, then continued its journey from New Orleans to New York City.

Shooting in a Casino Elevator

Lithic says...

Some background in case someone is as interested as I was, the suspect currently on trial is named Shepherd in the following quote:

"Police have said a fistfight preceded the 4 a.m. shooting after Shepherd confronted a 19-year-old man who made a comment about Shepherd's younger sister.

Shepherd, who police said was punched and knocked down in the scuffle, is accused of retrieving a gun from a vehicle, returning to the lobby and opening fire at Terrance Aubry, who police say made the comment.

Aubry was not wounded, but Vance Davis, 20, was shot in the arm and Markael Ballou, 23, was wounded in the leg. Both were treated at a Las Vegas hospital and released.

Police have characterized Davis and Ballou as bystanders with no ties to Aubry."
-By Ken Ritter, Associated Press Writer

Terrance can probebly thank his lucky stars the guy didnt know how to use a gun properly, if he had actually had a round chambered when he tried to fire (he cocks the gun after raising it as the elevator doors open, giving the guy he's amining at time to run away) he'd probebly been a lot worse off.

Screw Blue! Michigan lost 34-32 to Appalachian State

Pro-Surge Propaganda Denies Reality on the Ground

Bill Moyers is simply presenting/culling reports from various media sources; White House Press releases, Bush's own speeches, Ad campaigns from Freedom Watch, National Public Radio, US Army Ads, The Observer, NBC news, Associated Press, Stars and Stripes, US Army website and the New York Times (a story written by soldiers from the 82nd Airborne).

I don't even know how you can compare that to Fox News.
