Sometimes the job doesn't seem worth the pay

And there you have one of the many reasons I'll keep using Android devices. I've never had one break, yet I'm constantly seeing shattered iPhone screens. I swear, they must use the crappiest Made In China glass on the planet.

But I don't mean to derail the thread.

Why would they do that? It's in their interest to make their phones as fragile as possible to sell more phones. If they make something too durable, people will just keep using it.
That's why they keep all the parts glued together..to force you to buy a new device as soon as even the smallest thing breaks.

Hi Lucky, Something strange here. I'm not able to see the video on this submission ... http://videosift.com/video/Ingrid-Michaelson-covers-Radioheads-Creep-on-the-Nerdist I can see everything else (vote tally, description, comments etc). Attached screenshot as example I've checked I've got the latest flash version, and have tried in Firefox v38.0.1 and IE v11.0.9600.17801 on my Win 7 box and Chrome on my S4 Android device. Any ideas? Thanks

dag yo, thanks for making the only site that I visit once a day... other than netflix and, well, maybe xhamster or pornhub or -- what is that, xvideos? It's some porn site.

You have most graciously helped mankind in its quest to see all of the things. Except snuff and cp -- and I know that, however it must pain you, you made the right decision on that one.

All hail dag, the snuff and cp king! Wait no, anti snuff and anti cp. Wait... why am I typing this and not deleting the text? What's going on -- I'm thinking and it's typing oh my god I've been sifted

Flipped Tortoise Gets a Helping Hand

Mac users MUST use hands to communicate!

kceaton1 says...

I thought I'd comment about this extremely old video, in reflection. It's funny how many devices around me and others I know have changed dramatically. The PC AND the MAC are no longer near "the top" or need to be near the top (granted, Windows is still the platform to beat for personal PC's, but when it comes to mobile platforms...something that BARELY registered back when we were throwing insults around when this video was shown, it's amazing; and now it IS the thing to beat). Now it is all about Android, Apple, or Windows, with a few secondary OS "foundations" (sometimes with hardware) thrown in for fun.

I have one of everything now. My phone an Android, my tablet an Apple, and my PC Windows. Though I still have the one major gripe about Windows and Apple as I did back then; for Apple it is it's need to make self-related products that "you need" to make anything work--much like Nintendo's business model. Microsoft is extremely "information grabby" and they love to lock you down into a certain setup, depending on how you buy or bought your computer (for instance, if you put it together yourself, you can get away from most of these issues--which is what I do; but, most people don't have this luxury). To be honest, I find my Android run devices (my cellphone and my Roku--and as I go forward I imagine a few more will go down that road) to be the best of both worlds, and they typically get along with "both worlds" the most.

Not that Android doesn't have it's own (the Borg) problems, especially as we move into the future. But, as these posts show us, within five years something just like Android (Google) can become a powerhouse that has to be reckoned with. I can't wait.

I still hate Macs!

MacBook vs Yoga Dance-Off

RedSky says...

Good metro apps are few and far in between, and the ones that do exist are usually gimped versions. It looks like it would be great with the tablet mode for general browsing, but really, without either iOS or Android's app ecosystem, the usefulness of a touchscreen is severely diminished. I don't believe it has Wacom-level precision for pen input (like Surface), which in itself would make it a great note taking device.

I don't like W8/8.1 on my desktop either, and regret upgrading from W7. For whatever reason I can't get access to user accounts settings (which has for some unknown reason been incorporated into Metro unlike virtually all other settings) because it crashes/hangs whenever I try to open it. So now I'm stuck with entering a password on my account each time I restart when I have absolutely no need to have one.

I had a couple of virtualised apps (I had a version of MS Office in an .exe file that I could run from a flash drive) but that no longer works probably due to compatibility issues.

My laptop's internet settings for some reason no longer remember passwords and I have to type it in each time. Meanwhile I see no tangible benefits. It loads slightly faster, maybe? But with an SSD the difference is marginal. W7's side-snap was genuinely a good idea. Meanwhile, W8 doesn't offer anything like that.

Metro apps are mostly useless to me. I'm glad that they're going to allow them to run natively in the desktop environment in W10 instead of co-existing through a finnicky side-screen mode but unless they actually offer improved functionality or ease of use over desktop (unlikely), I don't see me using them there either.

"Stupidity of American Voter," critical to passing Obamacare

Trancecoach says...

Gruber is a type of statist identified in a cartoon. Obama too, and pretty much most of the liberal elite. The people are too stupid to rule themselves so the elite must trick or force them into submission. For their own good, of course. Gruber doesn't even care to hide it. If Republicans really wanted to, they could repeal Obamacare. But do they really want to? They would have to wait until next election and get 60 Senators. And maybe elect Rand Paul.
