Ape with an AK-47
>> ^direpickle:
Pretty sure I've seen this here, but I can't find the original. It's a viral ad for Planet of the Apes.
I see where it could be. Someone will surely find it.
Sgt Dakota Meyer awarded Medal of Honor by President Obama
@charliem:
First and foremost: Would you kindly go fuck yourself?
Now that I have that out of the way, religion has been an integral part of military ceremony throughout the entire history of our armed forces. No one is forced to be religious and the only place it comes us is with invocation at the start and ending of ceremonies.
As far as holding this guy above those that work towards cures for cancer: those researches aren't being shot at with AK-47s and RPGs. How the hell is what he did violent stupidity?
Of course this whole thing was presented in an calculated way. What would you rather? The president just get up on stage, undo his tie and just wing it? Fly from the seat of his pants? "Yeah, so uh, this guy here, welll, there was some shootin' and stuff, and some people got hit, so he and this other dude tooke a humvee to go get em. There was some more shootin' I think, and he save some do0dz lives."
Walgreens Pharmacist Fired For Firing at Armed Robbers
So during the current armed robbery you're supposed to consider the possible consequences upon the next armed robbery? Try this logic. The current armed robbery is your supposed next robbery.>> ^Yogi:

Anti-escalation policies can get people killed. Some robbers will just as easily shoot someone complying with their demands ans someone who tried to resist. I'd take the shot in a heartbeat.
Try this logic. Walgreens guy defends Walgreens with a hand gun...at the next Walgreens robbery a few towns over after this has made national news the robbers come in hyper aggressive with AK-47s. They don't fuck around they just shoot if they think anyone can possibly be reaching for a gun.
I remember when I used to work at Gamestop I helped out at another one...and they told me someone was just fired for leaving too many envelopes of the days earnings in the safe. I thought "That's stupid whats the big F'n deal?" They explained to me that if a robbery had happened and the thieves got away with a large haul...it could potentially put more people in danger because it would get the message out that there's a large haul to be had from Gamestop...people could die over something like that.
Also your "some robbers will just as easily shoot someone complying with their demands..." comment. Is it based on fact or a study?

I'm not sure what bias there would be. I seriously doubt that's the kind of thing you could easily study, so I'm not going to bother looking for data. But we all know that people on drugs, meth in particular, are/can be very paranoid and twitchy. It doesn't take but a bell to ring at the door for them to be spooked enough to pull the trigger while it's aiming at the clerk. Besides, I think that if they had access to AK-47s they'd use them the first time. It's why I go to the range as much as I can to keep my aim as good as possible. If I get the chance to draw a bead on someone who is actively and willingly endangering someone's life, they probably won't live to regret it. 15 hollow point rounds to the chest would make sure of that.>> ^Yogi:

CEO REALLY Stands Behind His Product
>> ^smooman:
i may be going out on a limb here but I'm fairly certain their primary consumer base are contractors overseas, in which case, an ak 47 you'll see 9 times out of 10. Technically you're right about the difference in muzzle velocity but it doesn't really matter when you're marketing your product to people who are being shot at by ak's 99% of the time. and from my experience with "bulletproof" materials, if it can stop an ak, it will still be effective against any other 7.62 weapon system
i would like to see how it holds up against a dshk tho. those are common enough .50 cal weapons particularly in afghanistan and parts of africa and they're scary as hell
>> ^Drachen_Jager:
AK 47 is a relatively weak rifle to test it with. Compared to a 7.62 NATO which is far more common in the United States it has a maximum 1260 ft-lbf of energy at the muzzle to the NATO 7.62's 2500-3000. And 7.62 NATO is not a heavy load either. A .50 cal BMG (as someone suggested) has 11,000 - 13,000, ten times the 7.62 Russian's energy.
Yep, there's something to be said for probability.

what? i have no idea where you would be using this glass, but i can guarantee you that an AK47 is likely the most powerful HANDHELD firearm you're going to be facing next to an RPG launcher or something. everyone from detroit gangbangers to iraqi insurgents to rebels in the congo have AK47s. the next step up for most of those guys is likely a .50 cal mounted machine gun, and at that point you're boned regardless of your GLASS, because that shit can go through relatively thick STEEL.
