Tesla China - Shanghai Gigafactory production line

Mordhaus says...

*quality

There is a Chinese car company called Kandi that is planning to build their super cheap EV's here in the US to avoid tariffs and shipping costs. If they go through with it and the cars aren't absolute trash, you will be able to pick up a bare bones EV with a range of 100 miles for about 10k after tax credits.

Bob, nicely done! You outed a fake YouTube account -- this guy? He doesn't exist. Notice he never uses his name anywhere? Not in the videos, not on his channel, nowhere. He has no internet presence apart from this channel. He has no images of himself searchable by Google Images, and AFAICT, he has no Facebook or Twitter feed. Before 12/31/2019, he had no footprint at all. A quick look at his videos shows he's lying about what he said about supporting BLM (the video he put up a month ago about BLM being a Communist front is pretty telling).

How odd that you found him, however, given that the video you linked to has less than 10k views.

Colbert To Trump: 'Doing Nothing Is Cowardice'

scheherazade says...

If you're gonna load 5 mags at the range, you could just load 1 mag 5 times at the range.

I suppose you would have whatever mags you own loaded. Otherwise there's no use in having more than 1.

For some people it's their main hobby. There's some expensive premium stuff out there.
If I wanted to hemorrhage money, I could probably drop 10k on a rifle build.
Heck, here's 3k on just a scope : https://www.usoptics.com/product-category/optics/

Side note, but you wouldn't normally keep thousands of rounds all loaded in extended mags....and this guy didn't pinch any pennies either.

A Gorilla Was Just Spotted On International Space Station

spawnflagger says...

I was just thinking "doesn't it cost $1M a pound to get stuff into space?"
so I looked it up, it's more like $10k (to $25k) to get 1 lb into LEO (low earth orbit, where the ISS is). But between 1lb and 5lbs, that's and expensive gag.

The Israel-Palestine conflict: a brief, simple history

bcglorf says...

@newtboy
If it was about safety, they would have illegally immigrated to the multiple neighboring countries

Right, as if you don't know how well fleeing from Germany to neighbours like Poland or France or Italy would have worked out for them... Seriously?

If the Syrians all went to Belgium, installed their own laws and government supplanting the local Belgians', made the Belgians non-citizens, took their lands and properties, pushed them into one small corner ghetto, then complained about how bad the Belgians are...

Are you suggesting that Jews did all this prior to the outbreak of civil war in Palestine? That doesn't reflect reality in any way shape or form.

it was close to 5% before the invasion.

When do you count Jewish immigration to Palestine as becoming an invasion? Palestine was already 8% Jewish by demographics in 1890. That's enough time for almost a 3rd generation to be born by 1940. Slowest, invasion, ever.

The leap was from 1930-1940, with an additional 450k Jewish Palestinians. In that same time the Arab population grew by 420k, so I guess they were both invading???

The alliance of Arab nations that fought them was much SMALLER militarily, you know this.

Right, Israel's initial standing army was 10k, matching Egypt's 10k. But Egypt wasn't the only one in the alliance of course, Jordan had that many as well. Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the remaining alliance members represented another 10k together too. Sure, in hindsight we know they don't jointly commit their entire forces to the task an outnumber the Jewish military 3 to 1. I'm not quite sure how the Jewish people planning a defense were supposed to anticipate that and 'hold back' accordingly.

Honestly, I just can not comprehend what you expect Jewish people fleeing Europe to have done instead. Fleeing to other parts of Europe still left them in Nazi controlled territory and on a train back to Poland. Standing to fight in other European countries meant getting shot at, defeated, and then on a train to Poland. Crossing the ocean was a far sight harder than going to the middle east. Of all the middle east countries, Palestine was the most promising so I find it hard to fault the folks leaving Europe and setting up shop there. Once arrived there, I again find it hard to condemn them for demanding fair treatment and being willing to fight for it.

I said those illegally invading in the 30's had little to flee (unless you are saying they had a time machine and KNEW what was coming).

Mein Kampf was first published in 1925, it had sold nearly a quarter million copies by 1933 when Hitler took power. How could they ever have seen anything bad coming their way I wonder...

Stephen Colbert on the Democratic Debate

Khufu says...

Bernie said that climate change will limit resources like water and turn fertile soil to dust causing more struggle for what's left, which leads to more terrorism. Think Mad Max. He's right.

And no I don't mean social arts, I mean humans use social behavior to survive, and when civilization began around 10k years ago it allowed for proper division of labor, everyone pitches in and everyone reaps the rewards, symbiotic. Not a scary thing.

And when I said ignorant, I didn't mean it as an empty insult, only that anyone afraid of socialism is ignoring the facts.

Beached Limo vs. Train

hazmat22 says...

I counted maybe 14 cars that went past the crossing, plus the 2 engines, that could be 800' it took it to stop. If he had applied the emergency brakes he still wouldn't have been able to stop in time and probably would have caused damaged to either the wheels, track or both. He was going relatively slowly (it was a populated area with crossings) to stop that quickly with 10k ton behind..

I wonder if they have training and stats on how everyone in their right mind would be long gone from a vehicle that's been stuck any length of time.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Comic-Con 2015 Reel

RFlagg says...

Well, the Star Wars people were saying we'd see nothing new at all... this is why Kevin Smith was saying he'd bet $10k that we'd see new and cool stuff...
I'd guess this is it.
I'm wondering if they'll sneak something in at Pax Prime?

Isn't there going to be a new trailer or is this reel all we're getting at Comic con? (Not that this reel isn't great)
