Star Trek TNG Bluray Old Vs New - Unbelievable Difference
>> ^ChaosEngine:
Ok, it's an obvious troll, but what the hell, I'll bite.
Why? Do you actually have a reason or do you just want the kids of your blurry lawn?
The old version already exists, is fine and watchable, beloved by millions of people and takes no additional work to produce; whereas the new version, which can barely be distinguished in side-by-side comparisons and not at all in normal viewing conditions, needed a bunch of wasted effort to make. It has consumed human labour to no purpose. Also, it is on Blu-ray so worse by definition.
Obviously I say this as an adult who watches everything in the lowest resolution available. Sometimes I even read books with no pictures at all. 1080p gaylords may have other (wrong) ideas.
I am actually pretty surprised you went for that.
The Manhattan Project in 1080P

Just because you have a camera moving rail doesn't mean EVERY SHOT HAS TO MOVE
No, but it means every shot can.

A VideoSift 5.0 Update (Sift Talk Post)
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Lucky is just being modest. I also blame myself for the lack of focus. I've got two kids and for once ... A day job that I feel pretty good about. Part of this post is a confession that I fee guilty about cheating on VideoSift. Did I mention that I bought a 1080p projector?
Highest Resolution Image of Earth Yet
this is wayyyyyyyyy better in 1080P
Give Us A Sexy Pose
needs 1080P
tree of life-formation of the universe scene
Yeah this sequence was my favourite bit of cinema from 2011. Try to find a 1080p encode if you can.
YouTube Slowness? (Sift Talk Post)
On YouTube I have the option "Always choose the best quality for my connection and player size" checked and to play HD when full screen (which it never does). It doesn't seem to matter what quality the video is anyway. It acts like I've lost connection. Reloading and skipping back to where it stopped doesn't work, it just refuses to play from wherever it stopped.
I've always been able to play 720p and 1080p on YouTube without problems, but it does it on the 360 and 480 streams too. I just watched a 2 hour movie in HD from Netflix without a hiccup while my niece was watching another Netflix movie on her tablet.
CryEngine SDK 3.4: Seriously pretty graphics!
This is very pretty, but why would you release a promotional video about graphics and not offer 1080p? And am I now a bandwidth snob?
Wanna File a Police Complaint? (Arrested for Trying)
Why is this such crappy quality? We've got cellphones that can record in 1080p. Come on people lets at least watch the deterioration of American Society in HD!
EDIT: Also where was this...my Police Department (Seattle) has the form online and you can submit pictures and video with it. Of course they'll probably delete it with some other videos but it's on there.
Sixty Symbols - How Do 3D Glasses Work
I have never seen any 3D TV experience that "worked" for me. When its 1080P per eye at 60 fps per eye, we'll be there.
My experience comes from using telescopes. Even though there is one lens, casting one image cone, when you use a binoviewer several things happen. 1) everything looks bigger, though its the same size.. this is reported over and over again by people. 2) low contrast high resolution details are easier to see, even though its the same image per eye. 3) problems you have with one eye are diminished, especially floaters in your eyes just fade away.
Now they are coming out with 3D TV which require no glasses at all, but unless they can pump the signal rate up it still will fall short for me.
Bird Flies Onstage During Bluegrass Show
That's kind of what I was thinking....it seems to kind of fall on him rather then fly into him.>> ^mxxcon:
>> ^spoco2:
happy Man, what wild bird is that tame around humans? Maybe not wild?
watch it on YouTube in 1080p and fullscreen. I think it's a chick that can't really fly and fell off a nest in the scaffolding.
If you watch the whole video from the beginning you can kinda hear it chirp even before it landed on this guy.

History Lesson for the History Channel
I've been heavily thinking of reducing the number of shows I get from my cable company for the specific reason that channels like planet green, history, discovery, science all show a bunch of bullshit that repeats at all hours. Not that I watch TV much but when I do I try and find something interesting and perhaps even educational but it so rarely happens. More often than not I end up turning on BBC anymore.
Besides that any shows that I watch I can find on the internet at 1080p via two dozen streaming websites. I really don't see the use of having cable at all anymore accept for the few shows I really like to watch when they hit, like some of HBO's programming, etc.
US TV just blows chunks anymore. It's just so damn mindless. The acting and writing is shit in most US shows and 3/4 of the channels just repeat the same crap 24/7.
