Witnessing the ice melt in Greenland

"A new study warns that rapidly melting ice in Greenland could result in a colossal rise in ocean levels. NBC’s chief environmental correspondent Anne Thompson just witnessed the dramatically thinning ice near Kangerlussaq." But of course, global warming is a lie, right? Why is the ice lying like that?

It's been mentioned in Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth as well, but with a much bigger implication.
If the Greenland ice sheet melts and pours enough fresh water into the North Atlantic, we'll have far worse consequences than a few meters of higher sea level.

But of course, global warming is a lie, right?

I don't know of any sane people who would argue that the climate is not changing. The main question of interest, at least from what I have seen, is how much effect humans have on the process.

Why is the ice lying like that?

Speaking of which, why do the ice cores show temperature rising before CO2? For that matter, why do they show the temperature dropping when CO2 levels are at their highest? Sure, if you zoom out far enough on the graphs then it looks like the lines are identical, but that is because such a wide time margine hides fine details.

I'd like to prevent the world from cooking to death, but at the same time I want to know that we are chasing the correct process. CO2 and other greenhouse gasses do affect the climate, but it seems that something else is a stronger driver of climate change.
