There is an apocryphal story of Groucho Marx meeting the Pope. On being introduced, the Pope said ‘Thank You Mr Marx for all the humour you have put into the world.’

Groucho replied ‘And thank you for all the humour you have taken out of the world’.

‘Airplane, A Melodrama!’ is a re-edit of one of the funniest films of all time with all the gags taken out.

Personally I'm a little surprised they only found 14 minutes of non-comedic footage, I wonder how other films would do in that department.

The 1980 Zucker brothers comedy about a midair jetliner disaster — is a remake of the 1957 thriller Zero Hour!

So, Simon Hollington and Kypros Kyprianou ripped all of the jokes and gags out of Airplane! and turned it back into a drama.

The way movies would have been made if the Germans won WWII.
