TURISAS - Battle Metal (Finnish folk metal)

Turisas are a Finnish folk metal band from Hämeenlinna. They were founded in 1997 by Mathias Nygård and Jussi Wickström and named after an ancient Finnish god of war.

Turisas combine elements of folk metal and power metal, with perhaps some influences of symphonic metal as well. The album title Battle Metal has given rise to the term "battle metal" being used as a description of folk metal (used mainly by Metal Hammer magazine and its readers) but it is not a canonical metal subgenre.

Wow, Hämeenlinnasta perkele! =) The Finnish accent still makes me shiver to the bone. And there is no way to get rid of it! I've been in the US for 9 years now, and still about a dozen people still ask me every day 'your accent, where are you from?' ..

And I smile sweetly and say 'Oh, Finland. Evereybody asks because they can't place the accent.' I hatehateHATEHATEhate it! yes, I hate the finnish accent!
Shoot me! I just can't stand it.. =)

Upvote for everything else Finnish though. I LOVE Finland with all my heart, and then some!

I wanted to see them live but failed to when they actually came through Vegas. It'll probably never happen again. *sigh*

seen them live, wasnt bad, crazy metal audience, crazy powermetalish sound, i wouldnt listen to it at home but their show was a nice experience.
