I first heard about it on the National Geographic Channel when they were talking about the Giant Palm Islands. Overall, it's just really freakin' cool!

Nothing like building a billionaires playpen in the hottest and most humid place on earth. I nearly died there when I went.

If i buy some islands, im going to make my own army, and invade all the other countrys in boats and helicopters. That would be fun.

ok.. so geologicly speakng... there is no protection from tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, or any other natural disaster for that matter.... i mean.. look at these stupid houses.. they sit right about at sea level with virtually no protection...you know.. what.. sure.. go ahead.. build out there.. just ask bangledeshi's how they feel living at sea level on small amounts of land.. the excessivly rich never cease to amaze me...

i was thinking along the same line when they announcer said something about 'absolute piece of mind' ... i'm sorry, but some security boats hopping between the islands wouldn't do it for me ... mother nature sometimes has her own ideas!

Actually Xgerbx, pho3n1x, LadyBug and others there is no problem with nature stomping around and ruining our Vodka Martinis with those cute lil' umberallas.

Basically this is going to be in the Gulf Coast, which doesn't really have tsunamis, hurricanes, and earthquakes. The worst thing that can happen is high tide, however all the buildings are legally made to be built for this. This has been proven with the Bajr Al-Arab.

Neat, upvote, but if I had that kind of money I would build a Bill Gates style place up, down and into a hillside. Not some freakin' castle on an island in the middle east, who the hell would voluntarily move to that region?
