Priest comes out, defies church, and Slams Prop 8

I can't tell if this will open the minds of his parishioners or not. There may have been a better way of going about it, but it was a brave move.

Go Fresno!

In case anyone doesn't know, Fresno is a very conservative area. The Yes on 8 people have been out every day for the past two weeks on a random intersection holding up their stupid yellow signs.

Hardly brave, just a way to make yourself look "gayly" tough on the way out of the "ministry." He has no moral responsibility, because he has no moral basis, after pretending to uphold the Catholic faith and living a lie. Clearly he does what is most convenient for himself, since being honest would have cost him when it mattered more. It's not like he knows how to be a man though, since he isn't exactly capable of it. So yes, it's not his fault, duh, what was I thinking...Please, small minds unite, downvote me since you don't want to face the facts!

Eh.... what?

Are you really trying to say that because he's gay, he's not really Catholic? Or is it just because he has a certain political opinion?

"...about the institution of marriage, which is the basis of our society."

Is it just me, or did this strike anyone else as strange? I've heard it many times, but this time it kind of struck me as odd. The more I thought about it the more it didn't seem so. Does this mean that without marriage, our society would never have started? Or without marriage our society would crumble? Or is it just another way of saying marriage has been around forever so it is ostensibly linked with society?

I never understood this Catlickers.. (Who would want to lick a cat?)
I mean, candles, incense, fake blood, cannibalism, virgins, and babies??
Sounds like a pretty far-out magickal cult to me!

Good on ya, Father, for speakin' your heart.

He's a fake Catholic. So he has no moral basis from which to utter lies. Is that short and clear enough?

Sagemindsays...

I'm sorry, but who says you have to be straight to be moral and who says you have to be straight to believe in god (or A god for that matter).

And what gives anyone the right to judge whether someone is faking their belief in god. I would think someone who has dedicated as many years as this guy must believe something in his heart!

A fake Catholic? Even if the bible does say that homosexuality is an abomination, it doesn't say that heterosexuality is a pre-requisite to Christianity/Catholicism.

ForgedRealitysays...

God. I'm so sick of religion. Who cares what the fucking BIBLE says!? Why is it that whenever a religious person is questioned about their faith, or issues of their faith are brought into question, they always resort to their chosen book of worship for their arguments? "THE BIBLE SAYS THIS.. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT...!" Who fucking CARES?! Can't you come up with a more compelling and sane rationale? HUMANS WROTE THE FUCKING BOOK! That particular book has been written, rewritten, translated, retranslated, altered to better suit the reigning party's desires, etc. for hundreds of years. It has been used as a tool for brainwashing and controlling people for all this time, and still, suckers buy into the bullshit every day. Are people so utterly helpless and in need of purpose that they have to stoop to such a level? Just look at all the problems around the world, and think about the many terrible things that happen ultimately because of religion.

Stop fighting and love one another. Isn't that what your fucking book tells you to do? Strange how you all seem to conveniently ignore that little bit.
